Ling Feng chuckled, "Being in the provincial city is just perfect!"
Then he repeated the matter concerning Zhou Yi and hinted to Wang Laogen that he had already inquired with Zhang Lan and Li Yun.
Upon hearing this, Wang Laogen chuckled and said, "You’re quite ticulous, turning such a trivial matter into a conspiracy. Can’t people just like Huaihua for her appearance alone?"
"That’s certainly possible, and I do hope that’s the case."
Ling Feng smiled and continued, "But I’m just worried about the ’what ifs’. If there’s any targeted conspiracy, I really can’t bear to see her get involved. She can’t handle that!"
"I understand, just give
a second," Wang Laogen said.
After saying this, the sound of keyboard typing could be heard from the other end. About a minute later, he suddenly exclaid, "Huh."
Ling Feng’s heart tightened, "What is it?"
"This woman, she really is a bit unusual!" Wang Laogen declared.
Ling Feng was taken aback, then asked eagerly, "Can you drop the habit of keeping people in suspense and just tell
what’s unusual about her?"
"She’s not from the provincial city; she ca from the south. She’s been here for only two months. Do you know what the first thing she did after she arrived was?" Wang Laogen asked.
Ling Feng, holding his patience, asked, "What did she do?"
"She bought a company first!"
"The company was originally valued at 30 million, but this woman offered a flat rate – she paid one billion to take over and beca the general manager straight away!"

Upon hearing this, Ling Feng couldn’t help but exclaim; he had seen spendthrifts, but never soone who threw money around like this!
"Being rich is one thing, but this is too unusual!" Wang Laogen said.
"You’re so capable, finding out her information in an instant. Didn’t you discover anything else?" Ling Feng asked.
"No, that’s all there is. This woman is very low-profile. She’s hardly had any social activities afterwards!"
"Alright, I got it."
Ling Feng nodded, ready to hang up the phone.
Just then, Wang Laogen suddenly asked, "Wait, Anna is with you, right?"
"Yeah, that girl has latched onto ," Ling Feng said sowhat helplessly.
"Don’t play innocent after reaping the benefits. Isn’t it good that she’s attached to you? Taking her in is like having half of the Qiao Family’s resources, which is a massive wealth!" Wang Laogen laughed.
Ling Feng was exasperated, "I’m telling you, old man, she is your disciple, after all. Do you talk about your own disciple like that?"
"Er, let’s keep matters separate. She likes you, can’t I see it? I’m just speaking about the matter at hand!" Wang Laogen defended himself.
"Alright, alright, fine, you’re great, OK?"
At this point, Ling Feng suddenly rembered what Chu Nan had said and thus asked, "Right, there’s another thing I need your help with!"
"What is it?"
"The Lu family has an ancestral prescription. Can you help
get my hands on it?" Ling Feng asked.
He had thought Wang Laogen would agree, but instead, he flatly and promptly refused, "No way. Unless I could fly, there’s no chance!"
"Really? You can steal top-quality Spirit Stones, but a prescription is too much for you?" Ling Feng asked.
Wang Laogen chuckled, "Whether it’s difficult or not, let’s put that aside. The Lu family is the Security Bureau’s biggest financial backer, providing several billion in funds and supplies each year. Do you think I’ve gone mad to steal from them?"
"There’s such a thing?"
Ling Feng was startled, his eyes widening as a sense of alarm gripped him.

Knowing that Wang Laogen wouldn’t be angry, he didn’t take it too seriously. Lying back down, he pondered from the perspective that Zhou Yi had ulterior motives, speculating what the other party really wanted to do.
The more he thought about it, the more Ling Feng felt that the matter might involve him.
Yet, it also seed a bit far-fetched, since he didn’t have much contact with Huaihua—only having t her once in the provincial capital during Luo Beihai’s birthday.
Could it be that Zhou Yi learned of his connection with her through that encounter and started approaching Huaihua because of it?
Unable to figure it out, Ling Feng eventually fell asleep while pondering.
The next morning, both Li Yun and Zhang Lan called him, saying roughly the sa thing: they had heard of Zhou Yi, but didn’t quite understand her background.
Ling Feng had anticipated this outco so he didn’t make much of it and thanked them before hanging up the phone.
Afterward, when he saw Huaihua, he didn’t bring up the matter about Zhou Yi again.
Two days went by with a nagging discomfort in his heart, and unable to bear it any longer, Ling Feng decided to make a personal trip to the provincial capital.

After hanging up, Ling Feng watched the road ahead while letting out a wry laugh.

After arriving in the provincial capital and picking up Zhang Lan at the city center, she got into the car and asked, "Where are we headed?"
