Chapter 2199: Chapter 2198: Divine Tree
Ling Feng was confident, believing those insects would definitely complete the mission.
But unexpectedly, when over four hundred nanobots were placed on the statue, a massive explosion turned the room upside down, yet the statue remained unhard!
Upon hearing this news, Ling Feng was at a loss for words!
Clearly, he had underestimated the situation. The material of the statue was unusual and not sothing explosives could destroy.
Ling Feng didn’t stay long. After bringing Little Fei with him, he teleported back to Lingyun Island.
Then he went to Gu Li’s office, and after sitting down, he said, "The mission failed; the explosives couldn’t damage it!"
"Huh?"
Gu Li’s eyes widened in astonishnt, "What kind of thing is so sturdy?"
"I don’t know either!"
Ling Feng shook his head and squinted as he thought, "It’s quite unexpected. The Pantheon Hall must be in chaos now and might have guessed sothing. I feel the statue has likely been moved!"
"Thinking from their perspective, that’s definitely the case!"
Gu Li nodded and continued, "We’ve stirred the waters, so they must move the statue, and finding it will be quite difficult!"
"Hmm!"
Ling Feng nodded and then smiled wryly, "It seems destroying the statue might be impossible; we can only wait and see!"
"There’s no need to worry too much, boss. Even if Odin can reach the Mortal World through the statue, I don’t believe he can do anything too outrageous. If he does, he’ll be an enemy to all humanity!" Gu Li said.
"That’s true, but the antagonism with the Pantheon Hall is now irreparable. If he cos, he will certainly target the Ling Corporation, and we might lose our advantage!" Ling Feng said.
"There will always be a way! Just take your ti to think about it."
Gu Li smiled and comforted him.
Ling Feng didn’t speak, falling into contemplation.
After a while, he left Gu Li’s office and went to find Ling Yao and Amaterasu separately.
However, neither of them knew anything about that mysterious statue material and had never heard of anything so hard.
Just as Ling Feng was in despair and prepared to give up on the statue, Sato Saori ca to find him.
She asked Ling Feng for help, and he, wanting to take his mind off things, agreed without hesitation and imdiately went with her to the Arctic.
As ntioned before, Sato Saori and Shinozuka Haruko were working on archaeology here, but they had temporarily halted because of the Belial discovery.
Now resuming work, they faced a problem neither could solve, prompting Sato Saori to seek Ling Feng’s help.
After briefly explaining the situation, Ling Feng teleported with her and quickly reached the heart of the Arctic Circle, over a vast ice field.
"The ice layer here is tens of thousands of years old, and our machines simply can’t penetrate it, so we found you to help!" Shinozuka Haruko said.
It had been a while since Ling Feng had seen her, and she seed more beautiful than before, so he smiled and said, "Leave it to ; with the God Slayer Saber and Kai Tian, I can cut through anything, no matter how hard!"
With that, he stepped to the drilling site, where a nearly ten-ter-deep pit had been dug below, but the ice layer couldn’t be penetrated further.
The drilling machines had been removed, and Ling Feng leapt down with the God Slayer Saber into the ice below.
Then, with a thrust downward, the drill-head-proof ice beneath the blade was easily cut like tofu!
Ling Feng smiled and started rotating the God Slayer Saber, slicing away large chunks of ice.
After working for a while, he managed to dig about ten ters deeper.
Though not as efficient as the drills, it was still quite an achievent!
Later, Sato Saori wanted to co down and check the situation, so Ling Feng expanded the digging area, increasing the space, and shortly, she ca down too.
As he dug, Ling Feng asked, "How deep is it under here exactly?"
"Our surveyed depth is fifty ters. If you feel tired, you can rest. No need to hurry!" Sato Saori said.
"I’m not tired, just curious about what you’re excavating in the ice again. Was it a sunken ship last ti? What about this ti?"
Ling Feng asked as he continued to dig the ice.
"It’s another sunken ship."
Sato Saori replied.
Ling Feng acknowledged and asked no more, focusing back on the excavation.
A little while later, Shinozuka Haruko joined them as well.
Seeing Ling Feng at work, Shinozuka Haruko, feeling a bit sorry for him, decided to accompany him.
As they chatted and dug, Shinozuka Haruko remarked with a smile, "Your God Slayer Saber is so sharp; it seems it can cut through anything!"
"Not really!"
Ling Feng shook his head, "The God Slayer Saber has encountered things it couldn’t cut before; not everything in the world can be sliced by it!"
Speaking of this, recalling the statue from the Pantheon Hall, Ling Feng sighed, "There’s sothing I would like to try cutting, but I doubt the God Slayer Saber could manage it!"
"What is it?"
Sato Saori and Shinozuka Haruko were both intrigued, asking simultaneously.
"A statue!"
Ling Feng smiled, considering neither an outsider, so he recounted the events from the Pantheon Hall to them.
Upon hearing it, Sato Saori’s eyes widened in astonishnt, "A statue that can’t be destroyed by explosives, what kind of material is that? How was it even sculpted?"
anwhile, Shinozuka Haruko furrowed her brows slightly and said, "I might know what that is!"
"Hmm?"
Ling Feng was taken aback and looked at her, "What is it?"
"Do you know what material that sculpture is made of?" Shinozuka Haruko asked.
"Well...."
Ling Feng mused for a mont and then took out his phone, "I’m not sure about the material, but it looks like this..."
Shinozuka Haruko and Sato Saori leaned in to take a look.
Then, Shinozuka Haruko said, "That’s right, this is made from what I know as Divine Tree. It appears to be stone, but it’s actually processed wood!"
"Wood?"
Ling Feng’s eyes went wide in disbelief, "Wood that can be so hard, even explosives can’t affect it?"
"Yes, this type of wood is quite mystical. It’s said to have so sort of spiritual connection. I believe using this material for a statue is deliberate!" Shinozuka Haruko said.
Listening to this, a lot of the confusion in Ling Feng’s mind cleared up, and he replied quickly, "Indeed, it certainly has a purpose!"
He then proceeded to share the details of what he overheard back then.
After listening, Shinozuka Haruko nodded, "That makes sense; using the spiritual connection of Divine Tree to link two worlds, swapping Odin over from his place, amounts to a form of teleportation!"
