Chapter 1852: Chapter 1851: Ambush

Ling Feng chuckled and then said, "Mr. Her, you’re overthinking. Though I’m greedy, I only take ill-gotten wealth from others!"

"There are no grievances between us; why would I rob you?"

"At most, it’s just curiosity that brought

here, with no intention of snatching treasure!"

After those words, Her seed relieved, nodded, and said, "Then I must thank you once again, Mr. Ling!"

Just as he finished speaking, Li Tong interjected, "Mr. Her, if it’s treasure like gold or jewels, it’s fine. But if it’s sothing very important with strategic value, I’d still like to discuss it with you!"

Her was taken aback and looked at her, "Please, Miss Li, go ahead!"

"In Huaxia, we have a saying: ’A gentleman carries no guilt, but a precious jade invites trouble!’"

Li Tong paused and then continued, "It ans even if you’re blaless, possessing a treasure can attract unwanted attention and trouble!"

Ling Feng understood her aning, so he added, "Like that diamond!"

Her was stunned for a mont and then said, "I understand what you two an. I can guard wealth, but certain special items do invite covetous eyes. I won’t risk my life for such a treasure!"

"I’m glad you understand, Mr. Her. It’s too early to say anything now; let’s discuss after we find the item!"

Li Tong remarked, turning to enter a tent.

Ling Feng smiled, observed that Her said nothing, and followed her into Li Tong’s tent.

Seeing him enter, Li Tong was montarily stunned and asked in Huaxia language, "What’s the matter?"

"Nothing much. After hearing you earlier, sothing dawned on !"

Ling Feng smiled slightly and then asked, "Do you know what the item at the mission site is?"

Li Tong was taken aback, her eyes flickering, "Why do you ask?"

"Nothing, just a hunch."

Ling Feng shrugged, "From what you said, it seed like you were hinting to Her that if the item is significant, you’d want him to hand it over to you, right?"

"Indeed!"

Li Tong nodded, "That’s what I think, but it doesn’t an I know what’s there!"

"Okay, I’m not wary of you. We’re all from Huaxia; whether you take it or I do, it doesn’t really matter!" Ling Feng laughed.

Li Tong looked at him, "That’s good then!"

"I won’t disturb you. You rest first!"

Ling Feng said, turning around to leave.

Just then, Li Tong suddenly asked, "Wait, you’re not planning to stay in the sa tent as Nina tonight, are you?"

"Hmm? How’s that possible?"

Ling Feng was startled and quickly shook his head, "Isn’t she with you? I prefer staying alone!"

"Oh."

Li Tong nodded, saying no more.

...

...

By evening, everyone in the camp had eaten dinner. A guard remained at the campfire while others returned to their tents.

Ling Feng sat cross-legged, while his Divine Sense enveloped the surroundings, entering a state of Self-Forgetfulness.

Originally thinking the night would peacefully pass, unexpectedly at ten o’clock, there was a deafening roar from the distant jungle!

Soon after, the earth began to shake.

Everyone was instantly awakened, with Ling Feng being the first to rush out of the tent.

Li Tong followed, rushing out as well.

"What’s going on?"

She looked at the lit-up horizon and turned to ask.

Ling Feng squinted, "There should have been an explosion, about ten kiloters away!"

"It’s not where we’re headed, is it?" Li Tong continued asking.

"It shouldn’t be!"

Ling Feng shook his head, feeling the explosion’s intensity was more than a shell could achieve.

"I’ll go check it out!"

Li Tong said, quickly withdrawing her Longsword and leaping up.

Ling Feng didn’t stop her, watching her fly away on her sword, disappearing in an instant.

Turning around and seeing the frightened faces, he quickly said, "Don’t worry, everyone. We’ll know what happened soon!"

"Mr. Ling, such a large explosion, could soone have brought a cache of weapons into the jungle?" Her asked.

"It’s possible!"

Ling Feng nodded, "If that’s true, it ans our whereabouts are leaked. Mr. Her, you need to consider how this happened!"

Her’s face changed instantly, unable to resist looking back at his subordinates.

Everyone appeared clueless, with no one showing guilt.

Monts later, a white light streaked across the sky, and Li Tong swiftly returned, landing on the ground.

Without Ling Feng needing to ask, she said in a solemn voice, "There’s a team eight kiloters away, attacked or mishandled the explosives, leading to an explosion that obliterated the entire camp!"

"With such a strong explosion, there can’t be any survivors, right?" Ling Feng asked.

"No, all trees within a hundred ters were destroyed; nobody could survive!" Li Tong replied.

Ling Feng clicked his tongue, "What a pity!"

"Anyway, we need to enhance our guards here!" Li Tong stated.

Ling Feng looked at her, "No need to panic. The guard here is always strong. With

around, I’ll detect anyone within five kiloters."

"That’s good, thank you!"

Li Tong said, turning and going back to the tent.

Seeing her go inside, the others didn’t stay outside either and returned to the camp.

Ling Feng was the last to enter, glanced at the sky’s red glow—trees ablaze, indicating the fire would last a while.

With suspicions, he stepped back to his tent.

Unable to ditate, he lay in his sleeping bag, appearing asleep, but his Divine Sense continued monitoring the surroundings.

Minute by minute passed, after an hour, Ling Feng finally saw a silhouette!

This person moved quickly, shortening the distance to the camp at once, entering a four-kiloter range.

Ling Feng sat up imdiately, raising an eyebrow!

This person was fast, faster than himself!

Clad in black, face covered except for eyes, Ling Feng wondered, "Who is this? Dressed so in the jungle, worried about being recognized?"

As he pondered, the shadow reached the camp periter, only a few hundred ters away.

Ling Feng remained still, focusing on the figure until the person moved rapidly, preparing to act. Only then did he suddenly activate the Mind Soul Art!

The shadow trembled but didn’t fall.

Ling Feng seized the mont, dashing from the tent, directly extending his finger at the figure!
