During her childhood, Kang Yu-ra lost her parents to villains at the tender age of nine.

Specifically, it was a villain with the rare taming ability who controlled monsters that led to her parents' deaths before her very eyes.

"Graaargh!"

The SS-class monster Juggernaut Knight, clad in a specialized reinforced suit resembling a humanoid warrior, let out a deafening roar. Its sharp lance, imbued with deadly mana, had pierced through Yu-ra’s parents, leaving massive holes in their abdons as they collapsed.

"Damn it, I made a mistake. I wanted to capture the girl alive, not have her resist like that... Tsk!"

The villain responsible for her parents’ deaths was Park Hyung-tae, an SSS-class villain. Clicking his tongue in mock regret, he approached Yu-ra’s mother, Yoon Ji-hye, and lifted her lifeless body.

Though he infused mana with healing properties to nd the gaping wound in her abdon, it was futile—Ji-hye’s life had already ended.

"Guess I have no choice. At least I can take the body," Park Hyung-tae muttered nonchalantly, stroking Ji-hye’s pale cheek.

"Still warm... Hehe~ Just wait a little, Ji-hye."

With a sinister grin, he placed Ji-hye’s lifeless body into a subspace artifact, preserving it. Then, his attention turned to Yu-ra, who sat frozen in shock.

Kang Yu-ra’s parents, Kang Tae-ho and Yoon Ji-hye, had been enjoying a peaceful stroll with their daughter when they were ambushed. What had been a joyful outing was transford into a living nightmare in an instant.

Unable to comprehend the tragedy, Yu-ra denied reality, calling out for her mother and father even as Park Hyung-tae reached for her to take her away.

Though resistance was futile against an SSS-class villain, Yu-ra was in such a state of shock that she didn’t even attempt to fight back.

"You’ll be even more delectable than your mother, little one. Hehe~"

With a twisted smile, Park Hyung-tae hoisted the trembling girl over his shoulder.

"I’ll raise you well, train you to be the perfect slave."

However, fate intervened that day. Kang Yu-ra was spared from abduction by the tily assault of the Kangin Guild, who attacked the scene.

While Park Hyung-tae’s rare taming ability allowed him to control monsters, his direct combat skills were inferior to those of other SSS-class awakeners. After losing most of his monsters to the guild’s offensive, he barely managed to escape.

Unfortunately, though Kang Tae-ho’s body was recovered at the scene, Ji-hye’s corpse was taken by Park Hyung-tae.

"Mom..."

The loss of her parents drove Yu-ra to resolve to beco stronger.

The Kangin Guild, the most powerful organization in Korea and the foremost force in hunting and eliminating villains, beca her goal.

The guild, which had saved her from being abducted, was the most effective organization for avenging her parents and finding justice.

Yu-ra had both the talent and the financial ans inherited from her parents to chart her own path. Choosing not to enter the Kangin Orphanage, she lived independently.

The Kangin Guild offered her so help by assigning trustworthy individuals to manage her assets safely, a gesture for which Yu-ra was deeply grateful.

With her finances secured, Yu-ra dedicated herself to training and preparing to join the Kangin Guild.

At 15, she entered a specialized hunter training facility operated by the guild, separate from Kangin Academy.

The facility catered to individuals aspiring to join the guild. While the rigorous training proved challenging, Yu-ra quickly adapted.

‘Will I be able to do well?’

Despite her determination, her naturally introverted personality often led her to doubt herself. She worried whether she could truly succeed in the Kangin Guild.

More than anything, however, she was haunted by the question of whether she could exact revenge on Park Hyung-tae, the SSS-class villain who had taken her mother’s body.

By the ti Yu-ra turned 20, she decided to solidify her position within the Kangin Guild by enrolling in Kangin Academy.

Simply joining the guild wouldn’t be enough to defeat Park Hyung-tae or recover her mother’s remains—she needed influence and standing within the organization.

‘Ugh.’

On the day of the entrance exam, Kang Yu-ra couldn’t stop her body from trembling with nerves.

Though she had spent years training at hunter facilities and occasionally clearing dungeons, this was her first ti being in a place filled with so many candidates her age.

Even though her sharp instincts quickly identified that most of the other candidates were weaker than her, she couldn’t calm the nervousness gnawing at her.

Moreover, she disliked being the center of attention, as so many eyes seed to be drawn to her.

Given her introverted nature, Yu-ra had struggled to socialize even during her ti at the hunter facility.

"Excuse , are you okay?"

A fellow candidate approached her, concern evident in her expression.

This girl was stunningly beautiful, with white hair and golden eyes, and her attire was distinctively Japanese, a white outfit that hinted at her cultural background.

Judging from her appearance, she was clearly a Japanese candidate.

"You seem very nervous… Are you all right?"

Her tone held nothing but genuine kindness and concern.

"Ah, yes, I’m fine. I just… tend to get nervous easily, that’s all. Haha…"

Yu-ra managed a small, awkward laugh, attempting to downplay her anxiety.

The Japanese girl nodded in understanding.

"That’s good to hear. My na is Moriya Yuka. I’m 20 years old—well, in Korean terms, I’d be considered 20."

"Oh, I’m Kang Yu-ra. I’m also 20, so I guess we’re the sa age!"

"Really? Then, can I speak casually with you?"

"Sure… Can I call you Yuka?"

"Of course! Then I’ll call you Yu-ra! It’s funny—our nas are so similar!"

Their introductions quickly gave way to a more personal conversation, with Yuka leading the discussion and Yu-ra mostly listening.

"Oh, I see… That must have been tough for you, Yuka."

"Yeah. Everyone keeps calling

Japan’s pride or hope… Honestly, it’s overwhelming."

"Ahaha… I can imagine. But still, you ca here, so you must want to do your best, right?"

"That’s right. Even without all the expectations, I want to grow stronger. My dream is to beco a hunter known by everyone in the world."

"A dream… Yeah, that’s a great dream."

For Yu-ra, it wasn’t so much a dream as it was a goal—to avenge her parents and recover her mother’s body.

Even though she had started to grow close to Yuka, such a heavy topic felt inappropriate for a first conversation.

"Yu-ra, do you have a dream?"

"A dream… It’s more like a goal. I want to join the Kangin Guild and climb to a high position. Then, I’ll eliminate villains."

Sothing in her tone hinted at a deeper reason for her ambition, and Yuka seed to pick up on this. Respecting Yu-ra’s boundaries, she refrained from probing further.

"Wait! Look, it’s Kim Ho-jun!"

"What? Really?!"

"Seriously, it’s him! And Seomun Ye-jin is with him!"

Suddenly, the crowd grew noisy as excitent spread among the candidates.

The cause of the commotion was the sight of two figures observing the candidates at the entrance—Kim Ho-jun and Seomun Ye-jin.

Yu-ra’s heart began to race as she caught sight of them. For her, these two represented a critical part of her future goals.

Kim Ho-jun, as the head of Kangin Academy, was undoubtedly close to Choi Kang-in, the master of the Kangin Guild. Otherwise, there would be no reason for him to hold such a position.

Additionally, Kim Ho-jun and Seomun Ye-jin, a renowned SSS-class hunter couple known for eliminating countless villains and monsters, embodied everything Yu-ra aspired to beco.

‘If I could get their help… maybe…’

The thought tempted her. If she wanted to secure her future, this was the perfect opportunity to approach them and prove her worth.

With their influence, they might even assist her in the Kangin Guild or help her locate Park Hyung-tae, the SSS-class villain responsible for her parents’ deaths.

But Yu-ra was paralyzed by her own reservations. The idea of using soone for her own purposes conflicted deeply with her values, making her hesitant to act.

Moriya Yuka, however, seed to sense Yu-ra’s dilemma.

"Yu-ra, do you want to go greet them?"

"Uh, wh-what?"

Caught off guard, Yu-ra stamred, but Yuka flashed her a playful grin.

"Perfect! I wanted to introduce myself to them, but I was too nervous to go alone. Co with , Yu-ra! It’ll be easier if we go together. Please?"

"Uh… okay?"

Before Yu-ra fully grasped what was happening, Yuka had taken her hand and led her through the crowd.

To her shock, Yu-ra found herself standing directly before Kim Ho-jun and Seomun Ye-jin, with countless candidates watching their interaction.

"Hello, Kim Ho-jun-nim, Seomun Ye-jin-nim! It’s such an honor to et the two of you! My na is Moriya Yuka. I’m one of the candidates for admission to Kangin Academy, and I’m here to take the entrance exam today!"
