Chapter 61: PUSH AND PULL

"You don’t seem to understand Lucian. If I noticed it then Hunter and Alpha Lobo did," she explained further.
Conri and I remained silent, and Anisha shrugged her shoulders and stated, "Fine. "She stomped off to her car and Tala joined her and they drove off from the construction site.
"You know she is right. We just need to be all on the sa page. "Zeeb drawled
"It’s too dangerous, "Conri huffed and walked to the car. The bodyguards had already arrived, and they paced up and down in frustration. We had hired them to guard , but with the current ss, they must have felt useless.
"Whatever happened, you better tell Elder Zaya, "Everest insisted.
"I agree. "Zeeb nodded
"Fire the new security team. One of them leaked our whereabouts. Contact Elder Zaya and request her to give us a new security team that will guard the construction site," I instructed Zeeb.
"Noted. I am off to the office. Will you be coming in?" Zeeb inquired.

Zeeb waved his hand as he left the construction site.
"Deal with your husband, CEO Lucian," Everest drawled, pointing at the waiting cars.
"I have a question for you. What head, is this about the many rogue wolves? "I demanded.
"I already inford Conri. You guys need to have a long talk so that you are on the sa page." Everest backed off and walked into the construction site.
The ride to the mansion was a quiet one, but when Conri pulled his hand into mine, all the tension eased from my shoulders. We got ho, took a shower, made breakfast, ate, and then went to bed.
Snuggling close to Conri, I breathed in his scent and whispered, "You seem distracted. "
"Yes. The Tizheruk’s words are ringing in my head," Conri confessed.
"The Adora crystal? You felt its power?"
"Yes. The day I walked into the room, it lit without
touching it. Unlike the KODA council mbers, who have to all be around it for it to give them power. Tizheruk stated they are the guardians of the crystal. And I am left to wonder when it says that the power is diminishing, could this be the reason Godmother is ill?"
"That could be it. I suggest we visit the KODA council late at night in the na of reporting this attack and then try to sneak into the room with the crystal"
"No need to sneak into the room, we shall ask Godmother to take us there," Conri cited.
I chuckled and whispered, "You seem to be the upright dear husband. "
"That is not Lil’ pup. I have this feeling that sothing big is coming. I can’t shake it off"
"Freki said the sa thing." I moved from his embrace and sat on the bed looking down at him.
"The wolves were far too many for my liking. What has Alpha Lobo been doing all these years? "Conri’s worried voice rose.
My eyes widened at the train of his thoughts. "What did Everest tell you?
"The mangy rogue wolves feed on the Cinnabar crystal. The land that has the mine is close to a piece of land that I own. I could sll sulfur today and sothing else close to gold. And I fear that Alpha Lobo is speeding up his plans"
"You suspect that there is more to today’s attack ?"
"I feel that he wanted to test our powers. And I fear that the Tizheruk coming to our aid has worsened his greed and need for control. He was too calm when he inspected the adow. And not forgetting the way Hunter was surprised."
"The Tizheruk is a myth," I exclaid.
"But not to soone like Alpha Lobo. He must have been sending the enforcers to test
every single ti I was up the mountain. Once I ca down the mountain, he had been waiting for the perfect opportunity to test . And finally, he found it last night"
"What the fuck does Lobo want?" I seethed.
"He wants the power of the Adora crystal. He wants to control everyone"
"Husband. He wants you," I stated.
"Impossible. "Conri pulled my hand and placed it on top of his heart. " You are my mate"
"I know Husband. But-"
He pulled
down, and our noses touched. " Are you in doubt?" A small smile played on his lips.
"Your worry is my worry," I stated.
"We need to rest," He insisted and pulled
into his arms. I pulled him closer and closed my eyes while murmuring "Okay"

It was five hours later when I woke up and found myself alone in bed. My senses picked up the sll of roasted at and I knew Conri was in the kitchen. I took a shower, dressed, and called Zeeb.
"How is everything? "I demanded when he answered the call.
"Slow. Elder Zaya already dispatched guards to the construction site, "Zeeb inford .
"That’s great. I need you to check sothing for . If there is land that Conri owns that is next to the Cinnabar gemstone. What activity is going on near the land and anything out of the ordinary? "
"Okay. But exactly what are you looking for ?"
"Anything that reads Alpha Lobo," I seethed.
"Okay. Will give you feedback. " And he disconnected the call.
Walking down the stairs, I found Elder Zaya seated at the dining table, eating.
"Godmother "I rushed to her. "When did you get here ?"
"Sleeping beauty finally wakes up, "She teased
and I hugged her.
I stood up and smiled happily. " Welco to our ho. "Conri appeared with a place full of at, mashed potatoes, and sausages. "Your food is ready," He smirked. I sat down and we enjoyed a hearty al. Once done, I cleared the table with Conri while Elder Zaya sat in the living room waiting for us.
"When did Godmother co? Why did you not wake
up" I scolded Conri, who only smiled and said, "She can hear you," pointing into the living room.
We went back to the living room, sat down and Elder Zaya spoke up. " What do you know about the Adora crystal?
