Chapter 44: RESORT CONSTRUCTION SITE
CONRI DOLF’S POV
"What? Lucian growled. I moved to place a hand on his back to calm him down.
"Exactly. "Rex’s smirk made Dolf rise in my mind.
Everest’s eyes darted between Lucian and Rex, and I could see that he had realized that he had made a huge mistake.
In an instant, Lucian’s phone buzzed, and he answered on the second ring. "Hi Godmother," He calmly said. I watched him listen in, and then he handed
the phone.
"Conri, my child" Elder Zaya’s voice ca over the phone
"Godmother, have you been keeping well? How is your health" I responded while my hand remained glued on Lucian’s back.
"I am a fine child. Let
bring you up to speed about Rex. The Koda council chair forced my hand. And I could not refuse. I suspect it’s Alpha Lobo who is pushing for this. For now, you need to manage the process and keep Lucian out of it. "
"Yes Godmother," I agreed.
"Thank you, my child, "And she disconnected the call.
I handed Lucian the phone and back. He looked at
in anger and I just smiled warmly in assurance. Taking one step forward, I stood towering over Rex. I could feel Dolf raising himself, and I opened my senses to listen to Rex Wolf.
"He is not a match for us or our mate. " Dolf finally yawned and then went back to sleep.
I extended my hand and said, "Hi. I am Conri Dolf. Lucian appointed
as the head of this project. " It was a way to command my authority and suppress Rex.
He looked surprised, and the four n who ca with him seethed. Ignoring my hand, he smirked "I know who you are"
"Great. If you do, I hope you have no problem following orders. I will run this project as I see fit. If anyone wants to quit, let them do so. " I took a step back and stood beside Lucian.
I watched the conflicting emotions run down his face. He was holding back his anger and then his deanor changed and he laughed. "No worries. We will follow orders. "
The n behind him looked surprised and one of them said, "Why the fuck should we follow the order of a rogue?"
Amid the gasps from the workers, Lucian moved even before I could blink. He grabbed the man’s throat in seconds and squeezed the air out of him. "What the fuck did you say?"
Rex blinked twice and then raised his hand to stop Lucian from strangling the man. I moved my body in between to stop his actions and he took a step back.
"Don’t touch him," I growled at Rex. "Lil pup, let him go"
Lucian pushed the man on the ground and order him, "Get the fuck out of my land. "
The man stood up and walked out of the site while the rest of the workers at the construction site cursed him.
I pulled Lucian closer and rubbed his neck affectionately. "Calm down Lil pup. You do not need to get angry over such small matters.
"Husband, disrespect towards you will not be tolerated," Lucian asserted.
I turned around and t the surprised look on Rex’s face. He must have been watching the interaction between us.
"Rex. If your n don’t plan to show respect to Conri, they better leave, " Everest announced. "If you aim to cause trouble, please just leave. We all respect Conri and acknowledge him as our boss. "
Rex fisted his hands to the side while his eyes blazed. He turned around and left the site, trailed by the n who had accompanied him.
"Did you replace the initial team you had hired? "I turned to Everest in question.
"Yes. Elder Zaya made a last-minute change. "Everest explained.
"Get the team that was initially assigned back on site, "I commanded, and the workers all cheered up.
A small smile played on Lucian’s lips and leaned down to whisper to him, "I got this" Lucian’s laughter was loud and infectious and it eased the tension around the construction site.
An hour later, we had already agreed with Everest on the project plan and Conri shared the designs. He presented the whole architecture of the resort and all the workers acknowledged it.
As we stepped out of the little iron container that had been set for the office, Anisha and Tala appeared.
"Are we late for the eting?" Anisha smirked.
"Yes," Lucian responded." How did it go at the KODA council?"
"As usual, Carter was being difficult until Tala showed him the pictures of the car. It was satisfactory to see Hunter uncomfortable and Alpha Lobo reeking of anger. Mother put her foot down and demanded why he was attacking her precious daughter. "Tala chucked, and we all laughed.
"The eting ended with Alpha Lobo promising to investigate. He was not happy about it either," Anisha added.
"Serves him right," Tala retorted.
Everest walked out of the office and spotted us. He rushed over in a hurry. " Anisha. We already finished the eting. But I can take you and run you through as to what was discussed." The blush on his face was evidence that he was attracted to Anisha.
Tala shook her head, and Lucian smirked.
"Thank you, Everest, for the office, but I will co in tomorrow so that you can run
through everything. For now, we are headed back to the office. " She politely declined.
"Okay. "He smiled, but disappointnt was laced on his face as Anisha and Tala turned around and left.
He went back to the office looking dejected, and Lucian leaned over to nudge . " You better tell him"
"How? That is none of my business," I pointed out.
"He is your friend. You will save him the heartache, husband," Lucian pressed a kiss on my cheek. I pulled him closer and leaned down to whisper into his ear, "How is the bite mark on your thigh"

"See you in the evening. Co ho early. I will be waiting. " I responded teasingly.
He chuckled and shook his head as he walked out of the site. My eyes did not miss the slight limp on his leg and knew that with every step he took, the sensitive mark pushed him to the edge.
"Dolf, you are too much," I pushed the words through my mind link.
"You agreed to the idea, right? Having his ex around drove you crazy!" Dolf noted.
"Our mate belongs to us," I asserted with authority.
"And now the second part of mating has been done. When are you going to complete the mating? " Dolf demanded.
"Soon" I responded.
"We need to complete it, make him and Freki ours," Dolf insisted.
I walked back into the office container, deep in thought, and sat down.
"Conri, there is sothing I want to ask "Everest walked over to my desk, hovering in anxiety. I knew it was about Anisha and nodded in encouragent.
"It’s about Anisha. I know the rumors about her and old man Odwolf are not true. She is calm and polite regardless of how much interest I show her. "Everest’s anguished voice rose.
"Get straight to the point. "I urged.
"Would you know if she is seeing soone or interested in soone?" Everest’s hushed voice reached my ears.
"She has a mate," I dropped the bombshell.
Everest took a step back in shock. His hand clenched and unclenched and then he inquired, "Who?’
"You need to ask her yourself. "I pointed out. I was simply not going to tell him about Zeeb. Having a mate was a private matter.
"Thank you Conri" He nodded but his face was filled with anguish and pain.
" You are most welco. Now it is my turn to ask for a favor," I pressed on.
"What is it Conri?" Everest looked eager.
"Don’t ever allow Rex back into this project. No matter who begs or instructs you to do so. If they push you into a corner, send them to . "
