Chapter 40: SAFE
"A large rogue wolf. Sothing a hunter keeps. It’s strong enough to topple the car. Drive faster," Tala responded in a panicked tone.
"Shit" I cursed and decided to head to the Freki mansion" Hold on" I advised her and turned the car around to speed off.
I watched from the side mirror but did not see a thing as darkness had crept in. I opened my senses and let my wolf give
the vision of the night. Two seconds later, I spotted it. A large black wolf approached from the left rear. I swerved and sped off, hitting the bumps on the road and Tala held on for dear life.
"We should be clear in a minute or two. They can get on Freki land," I inford her. Not a second later, I felt the car hit in the right rear and we swerved again. This ti the car skidded and got off the road, but I was determined to lose them. And pressed on the gas pedal, held onto the steering well, and got us back on the road.
"Freki land" Tala yelled in happiness as the sign ca into view we left the main road and got into the lane that led to the Freki mansion. Speeding up without stopping, we drove and, as we approached the gate, I kept on hooting. The guard knew my car and opened it up and we entered the driveway and parked the car. We got out of the car and Conri rushed out of the mansion.
He took one look at us and then saw the dents on the car.
"Who?" He demanded.
"Hunter and his minions, "I seethed and pulled Tala close.
"Fucking bastard. How dare they? Get in the house and keep the doors locked," He commanded. We rushed into the house and slid the doors closed. We watched as Conri paced up and down the driveway, then he stopped and in seconds he had shifted into his wolf.
"What the "I whispered while Tala pressed on my hand.
Conri Dolf’s wolf was brown. Twice the size of normal wolves, lethal and nacing. He stood in the driveway and then he growled. A sound that shook the entire house and pushed us to our knees.
"By the moons," Tala whispered as we watched him pace up and down and then sat on his fours and waited. I pulled Tala up and we watched Conri. A few minutes later, he shifted back to his human form fully dressed.
"Are you seeing this Tala?" I whispered.
"He is fucking aweso," Tala praised him.
Conri walked to the doors and slid them open.
"They are gone. But it would be safe for you two to stay put. "He advised.
We could only nod as he raised his hand to show that we should have a seat. He walked to the couch, and we followed suit. Sitting down and staring at him in admiration like two fan girls who just t their idol.
"I guess they were following Tala, right?" Conri asked.
I could only nod.
We heard the skid marks of a car, driving into the mansion and then doors being opened and being shut hurriedly.
"Lucian is here,’ Conri confird our suspicions.
We listened to the sliding of the mansion door and then Lucian appeared with Zeeb hot on his heels. Conri stood up and Lucian rushed to him.
"I heard you. What happened?" His voice was laced with worry and concern.
Before he could answer, Zeeb pulled
into his arms and said, "Thank God you are safe."
Tala chuckled while Lucian grinned. "About ti. "
"Shut up Lucian "I scolded him.
"You can all continue. I am just here to watch, " Tala taunted.
"Let us have a seat," Conri suggested.
Once seated, Lucian demanded, "Can soone tell
what is going on? "
"You said you heard Conri? "Tala raised her eyebrows.
"More like my wolf heard him. We were on our way ho. Zee was driving behind ," Lucian explained.
"Hunter and his enforcers have been following
since yesterday," Tala explained.
"I took matters into my own hands and moved Tala into my apartnt. And from now on, she will be my PA. We need to protect her, "I added.
"Why the fuck were they following you?" Zeeb demanded.
"They must have realized what I did. We left the office in my car, but Tala left her car in the parking lot. The person who was following Tala must have called Hunter. He set his wolves on us"
"The fucking Lobo is taking everything out on you?" Lucian seethed.
"What hit the car?" Conri asked with curiosity.
"Hunter’s black rogue wolf, "Tala explained. "He keeps it as a pet to threaten the golden pack weaklings. But Anisha here is an excellent driver. And she has great vision and got us out of the predicant, turned around, and drove here"
"They are afraid of approaching the Freki lands" Anisha shrugged her shoulders.
"Really? I doubt it. I could sense them getting into the Freki land. Especially the rogue wolf. Driven by the hunger to capture and kill. It was determined to get to you but it is no match for "
"So that is why you released your power" Lucian nodded.
"You were in danger and you did not tell ?" Zeeb interjected and asked Tala.
Tala’s eyes widened, and she looked down with embarrassnt.
"Stop it. She is already frightened. And she told . I believe that is enough, ’’ I scolded Zeeb.
"Agreed," Lucian added.
"Pfft," Zeeb huffed and leaned back on the couch.
"Is this the reason you ca with Rex to the office? Alpha Lobo is the one behind Rex coming back to Alaska?" Lucian inquired.
Tala nodded, and she explained, " He recalled Rex back to Alaska. But his flight was delayed, and he never made it to your marriage ceremony. I suspect that they ca up with a new plan. To have Rex be part of the Freki Resort project. "
"Who is the fuck is Rex? "Conri asked.
