TALA’S POV

Please have reined in the Golden Shift Pack for the past four months. Things went on normally but Hunter spent less ti with . He was so busy with the enforcers and always ca ho late.

I was getting pissed by the day but chose to stay silent.

By the ti I left the house, Hunter had already left and I got to the Golden shifter pack and found the place buzzing as usual. I got to my office buried myself in work and skipped lunch since I did not want to interact with anyone. Moresore Hunter did not get in touch, call, or text and was irritated that he kept away.

I pushed the thoughts to the back of my head and got in touch with the guards around the Chugach mountains ensuring the border guards’ rotation as well.

It was later in the day when I received a call from Lucian’s Aunty Sasha. I stared at the phone and let it ring for a while before accepting it " What is it ?" I drawled.

" We need to talk " Aunty Sasha’s voice was cold over the phone.

" Do we?" I retorted back.

She was silent and then proceeded to say " You owe

this much. You need to hear the side of my story"

" That’s true. I need to find out why you went rogue" I stated firmly.

" Zineb Aria lied to . I was caught flatfooted and she deceived

about Luke. The rest is history."

Her voice told

that she was trying to cover up for her mistakes and justify that whatever she had been doing was right.

" Fine. I will co to you tonight" I announced and ended the call.

I ran my hands through my hair in frustration and then the pack secretary knocked on the door and announced that she was leaving for the day. It was already six p.m. I nodded as the door closed behind her softly. Leaning back on my chair, I closed my eyes for a minute, catching a breath from everything that had happened within the week. I must have dozed off since the loud ringing on the phone made

fully awake.

Anisha was the one who was calling and I connected the call. " Zeeb sent

a text and told

that Lobo’s old friend Simon Mark is back in town. He spotted him by the pier. I know that this will be difficult for you since you were best friends and all worked for Lobo Aria"

" That fucking bastard" I seethed as I stood up.

Simon Mark was a Beta who had been loyal to Lobo Aria. We worked together and he was a friend of Hunter and . He had disappeared a year ago and Lobo never searched for him. We all asked about him but Lobo brushed it off saying he had gone on holiday. I used him to push Hunter away and did not want him anywhere near us now that Hunter and I were mated.

There was a rumor that Simon Mark had gone for an undercover job for Lobo since so of the gold shipnts went missing and Lyal was unhappy about it. I wondered if the call from Aunty Sasha and the appearance of Simon Mark were a coincidence.

" I also hacked his phone. It was difficult at first since the guy was smart. The problem is that his phone is filled with pictures of you and Hunter. That guy is creepy. Keep this confidential since I have not even told Zeeb about it" Anisha whispered.

" No worries’ ’ I said as we bid goodbye and I disconnected the call.

The door of my office opened and Hunter walked in looking tired and deflated. He stood by the window and I spoke up " You are finally caught a break "

He nodded " I was busy ensuring the enforcers don’t overstep. I also went to the pearl farm since Conri asked we beef up the security on the island "

" I have news for you. Simon Mark is back in Chugach "

Hunter laughed and then stated, "You are joking right?"

" Why would I? "

Hunter looked utterly shocked by my statent.

" Surprised?" I growled.

" I haven’t spoken to him since he left Alaska, ’’ Hunter confessed.

" He was spotted by the bar at the pier. He must be looking for you" I snickered.

" He knew that I was in love with you," Hunter confessed.

" Did you spill your guts to him and tell him about us?" I yelled.

" I was drunk one night and I shared my secrets with him, " Hunter stated without sha.

" You told him about us being mates?" I asked.

He looked back at

with defiance written all over his face " Yes I did.

Hunter’s explanation thawed all the anger that I was feeling.

"I confessed to him how much I pinned for you but you were not ready to be my mate "Hunter rasped. We moved in unison and Hunter pulled

I felt calm by his words and nodded. " Fine. But you need to find Simon Mark ASAP before he causes trouble"

" I am tired. It’s ti to leave and go ho" Hunter stated and we left the office for ho. When we arrived, Simon Mark was standing at the entrance.

" Hunter, sorry I ca unannounced. " He drawled as his eyes widened and remained glued to the spot of how we held our hands.

" Let’s talk inside. " Hunter stated.

Once we settled in the house, Hunter turned to Simon and said " Was there sothing urgent that made you co back to Chugach "

" Not really. I missed you old partner " Simon stated

" Cut the crap " I scolded him.

" Tala has always been mine. I just needed more ti and for sure I could change her mind. I wonder what you did to convince her to sleep with you"

" Because we are mates, " Hunter yelled.

" Calm down" I placed a hand on Hunter’s thigh. Simon’s eyes widened and he huffed.

one reason why I should not snap his neck," Hunter growled.

" You are nothing but a mutt. An enforcer that was serving Lobo" Simon snickered.

" Under normal circumstances, Hunter would have already killed you for speaking like this. But I know that he is holding back because I am here. He does not want to upset . I accept it. I made a mistake by flirting with you and using you to make Hunter jealous. But fated mates are the moon gods’ grace. I would never be with you as I am already mated to Hunter"

Simon Mark looked stricken by my statent and hurriedly left the apartnt.

Hunter muttered, " What the hell ?"

" Why the fuck did he co back? " I growled.

" We better be prepared. I will ask Anisha to track him again"

He was silent for a while and then turned and went up to the room. I was left in the solace of my silence in the living room, regretting my behavior in the past.
