Chapter 144: FRIDOLF’S HEAD
LOBO ARIA’S POV
It was almost dawn when Zineb banged on the door of my room repeatedly. Aria sensed the panic in Zineb and rose to the surface. I rushed to the door and yanked it open and Zineb yelled, "Brother, we are screwed."
"Can speak clearly," I growled and her eyes widened as she staggered back.
The scent of blood hit my nostrils, and I saw the blood that was laced in Zineb’s hand. She slid to the floor and said "Outside" while raising her hand and pointing at the exit.
I rushed over barefoot and got to the door of the house. Laying on the floor was Fridolf Due’s head. It had been chopped off and his eyes rolled backward. I staggered back and cursed.
"What the hell?" I yelled out loud.
At that instance, Jaxton ca running from the guest room and stopped short when he saw what lay ahead.
"Fridolf?" He muttered in shock. "Is that Fridolf?" He pointed at the head.
"Get soone to clean it up," I commanded him and turned back to go to my room. Zineb was nowhere to be seen. After a shower, I dressed and hurried to the living room and found Zineb and Jaxton pacing up and down.
"Where did you keep it?" I demanded.
"In the spare cooler in your basent. " Jaxton shuddered.
"I asked him to do it, "Zineb interjected before I could speak.
"Fine. We better head to the KODA jail and find out what happened to Fridolf," I seethed.
"My gut feeling tells
that the n who ca here did this," Zineb spoke up.
"What?" I turned to her.
"I can’t explain it, but I have a bad feeling. At first, I thought it was nothing when the man yelled out loud when we ntioned Lucian Freki. But now it is clear that one of them knew him. What if they decided to work for Lucian? I don’t trust anyone" Zineb’s voice trembled.
"Oh no," Jaxton shook his head in disbelief." If they killed Fridolf, we are next"
"Shut your mouth," I yelled at him. "Stay behind and guard the house. Don’t ss up or your head will end up like Fridolf, "I snickered and walked out of the house.
We got into the car with Zineb and headed straight for the KODA council. On arrival, the office was packed with pack enforcers and security. As we descended, their eyes widened, and they remained stoic as we walked in. We found Luna and Everest at the entrance to the jail.
"What happened?" I asked.
"Lobo, to what do I owe this pleasure? " Luna spoke up.
"I am here to visit Lyal, " I lied with a straight face
"Kindly wait for a bit. The enforcers and morticians are here to clear the body of Fridolf Due."
"What?" I growled.
"Soone snuck in and chopped off his head. His head is missing, but the other part of the body is lying in the jail cell." Everest stated.
"How?" Zineb demanded. "The KODA council jail is a fortress. How dare anyone sneak in ?"
"What are you trying to imply?" Luna stepped forward towards Zineb.
"Are you trying to gag ?" Zineb pressed on.
"Well, well, well, what do we have here? "Levy spoke up from behind us.
We all turned around and there stood Levy with a smirk.
"What did you find?" Everest asked.
"The person left a note behind," Levy said and handed a note that had blood splutter.
Luna walked over, took the note snickered, and walked over to hand it to .
"What?" I said and then took the note and read it. All the color drained from my face for the first ti. I felt fear. The note read " LOBO ARIA YOU ARE NEXT"
"What the hell?" I heard Zineb curse.
"What is the aning of this?" I raised my voice.
"Do you have anything to do with this?" Everest asked.
"Where is Lyal? Is he okay? " Zineb screeched.
"Yes, he is fine. ’’ Levy started and then the enforcer and morticians walked out of the jail cell carrying the body of Fridolf and we gave way as they walked past us.
After a minute of silence, the enforcers walked out with Lyal. He looked out of it and was in shock. "Lobo, please help . It was the devils. They ca in and chopped his head in one swoop. They were animals. Beast. Not human. Help , Lobo," Lyal scread.
"He has been rambling since this morning. I suggest we admit him to the hospital and have him sedated, "Luna stated. "Plus, he is a witness to such a cri. I have instructed the enforcers to offer him protection.
"How could such a thing happen in the KODA council?" I insisted.
"Yet the note has your na. This has to be investigated, "Luna asserted.
"I had nothing to do with him," I said defensively.
" Yet your na is on the note from the killer or killers," Luna stated. "I suggest you protect yourself from now on. The persons who did this are dangerous and lethal. They snuck into the KODA council and executed a powerful wolf-like Fridolf. That ans they will not stop"
"Has Eliana Due been notified ?" Levy asked.
"We are trying to reach her." Everest stated, " She has said she had returned ho to her family in Denali. She needed to recover from the loss of her children"
"How is she not a suspect?" I spoke up.
"How could she be a suspect?" Levy piped.
"Whatever," I snickered and left the KODA council, with Zineb hot on my heels.
We followed the car that took Lyal to the hospital and waited as they settled him in. Once the doctor sedated him, we entered the room. Lyal lay asleep, and I turned to the doctor and asked, "What is your diagnosis?"
"He saw sothing so shocking that he was incoherent and in fear. That is why he is in this state," the doctor inford us.
"What would you advise?" Zineb asked.
"His family has to be around him always so that he can recover fast. " The doctor said.
"Thank you, doctor," Zineb nodded as the doctor left.
"Lobo, they betrayed us. " Zineb moved closer and whispered.
" Fuck" I rubbed my face in frustration.
She removed her phone from the bag and dialed. In seconds she stated, " Jaxton, don’t open the door to anyone, and send an alert once you hear anything suspicious’ ’ She then disconnected the call.
"We need to hire guards or one of us will end up following Fridolf to their grave, ’’ Zineb added.
"I agree. And these n left their na behind, " I cursed out.
"Do you know if what they said about Elian due is true?"
"She has been missing since she testified against Fridolf at the KODA council," Zineb stated.
"She would be the one who negotiated the deal to have Fridolf killed. "I whispered "At the mont I trust no one"
"Of course, brother. We also need to ensure that Lyal is protected. But based on those n, they want you dead. So soone must have struck a deal with them. The question is who?"
"Did Jaxton get information about where Hunter is in Canada?" I asked.
"The n are still searching. They can’t hide forever," Zineb assured .
"Ti to leave and go back ho," I urged Zineb, and we left the hospital and headed ho. Once we got there, we found Jaxton in a panic and the sun had already set.
"What is it?" Zineb asked.
"Soone called
from the Golden Shifter pack office. It seems that the people who did this had an inside person who opened the jail door for them. They suspect it’s Levy Isla"
"What?" I yelled.
"The pack mbers also say that Levy is bitter about his brother Keith and his father, Isla. Hence, he is the one who ordered the hit, "Jaxton rambled on.
"I doubt it. Levy is not bloodthirsty. A vengeful person did this hit" Zineb voiced her thoughts.
"I suggest we stick together from now on," I instructed. " I am going up the mountains to bring back the wolves. I will have them protect our ho. I will be back before midnight. "
I left the house and walked into the woods. Shifting, I used the secret routes to the mountains and got to the Cinnabar valley. The mangy wolves must have sensed Aria as they growled and ca out of the caves. One by one, I counted ten wolves. I shifted and walked to the secret cabin by the caves and dressed. They surrounded the cabin as Aria penetrated their minds and controlled them. Once I walked back to the entrance of the cave, I deduced that they were full and the guard by the cave rushed out after he sensed the commotion outside.
"Alpha, it’s a pleasure to see you. ’’ He bowed in greeting.
"It’s ti to leave the mountains. Have the other guards bring the Cinnabar Crystal to my ho before dawn," I instructed.
"As you wish Alpha" The guard nodded and rushed back into the cave. An hour later, we left the mountains, and I whistled my way down as the mangy wolves followed .
"It’s ti that everyone felt the power of Lobo Aria. " I snickered out loud and laughter bubbled from my chest and the wolves responded with howls.
