Chapter 120: SAFE
I arrived at the pack office and found the entire office busy with a loud buzz. All the enforcers rushed over to
and each gave
an update of the situation. Lobo has sent a team of secret enforcers to Sitku two hours earlier. He called the law enforcent of Sitku and now they would hit the ground and search for my family.
I nodded as they briefed
and then I walked into my office, closed the door sat down on the chair, placed my head on the headrest, and closed my eyes.
"You need to remain calm. " Hemming pushed the words through our mind link and advised.
"I know," I responded through our mind link.
"Lobo’s wolf is cunning and will sense if we don’t remain calm. That is why he rushed back to your ho last night. It seems that one enforcer has very good tracking skills and scented our mate, " Hemming said.
"But I know Tizheruk is powerful. He will hide his tracks well, "I responded.
The door of my office opened and my eyes snapped open. Lobo Aria stood by the door and said, "There has been no word from Sitka. "
I stood up and walked towards Lobo and pleaded, "Alpha, you know I have very good tracking skills. Allow
to go to Sitka. I need to find my family"
He remained silent for a few seconds and then said, "Take Keith Isla and Jaxton Carter with you"
"Thank you Alpha" I nodded in acceptance, knowing well Lobo was testing .
"I expected you to object to knowing how much trouble those two are. " Lobo raised an eyebrow.
"I could use all the help. My priority right now is to find my family. That is all that matters. "I responded. " But I don’t get it. Why would soone take them? I have nothing that they need to use?"
"What about testing your loyalty to ? That is sothing soone would use, " Lobo growled.
"Alpha, there is more to this than that," I huffed. " For the first ti in my life, I feel helpless"
Lobo stared at , not knowing what to do. I knew he hated emotions and hence I openly pretended to display my affection.
"Co to my office," Lobo said as he turned around and I followed him, slowly pretending to drag my feet. When we got to the reception area, Benjamin Gold stood in waiting, and when he saw Lobo, he approached us.
"Alpha Lobo, I ca unannounced, but I hope you can spare a few minutes" Benjamin’s voice was stern and cold.
"What is now? " Lobo asked in frustration
"The KODA council eting is scheduled for today, " Benjamin announced.
"I have an urgent matter at hand. Hunter and I are traveling to Sitka, " Lobo Aria stated.
"Let it wait. The KODA council will be waiting for you. " Benjamin turned to leave.
"Alpha Lobo will not be able to attend the KODA council eting today, " I growled.
Benjamin pretended to be surprised and turned to . " Lil pup, whom are you growling at ?"
"There is an ergency that requires Alpha and I to travel to Sitka. I need him there with ," I said and made sure my voice trembled and croaked.
Benjamin raised an eyebrow as his eyes bore at .
"I need a valid reason as to why we should postpone the eting. " Luna Elijah’s voice rose from the entrance of the pack office as she walked towards us.
"Honey, why did you get out of the car? " Benjamin asked as she walked over to him and wrapped her hand on his arm.
"You were taking too long, " Luna snapped.
"Since when do I have to explain myself to you?" Alpha Lobo demanded.
"Unless I get a valid explanation, I will hold the KODA council eting. And if the council decided that you snubbed the eting, we have no problem declaring that the Golden shifter pack has no Alpha. "Luna shrugged her shoulders.
"What the fuck?" Lobo growled.
"My family is missing. Alpha Lobo and I are going to Sitka in search of them," I spoke up. "Please hold the KODA council eting another day"
There was pin-drop silence in the reception area. Luna’s eyes widened and then Benjamin patted her arm.
"Fine" Benjamin responded. "Alpha, let us know when we can have the KODA council eting to decide Lyal’s fate. We shall be waiting. "And with that, they left the Pack offices.
"Why the fuck did you give them information that is only privy to the pack office? "Lobo Aria growled at .
I turned to him and my eyes were blazing when I responded, "Privy? "
He remained silent, and then he turned and walked to his office. I stood by the office reception, fuming in anger. A few minutes later, I walked into Lobo Aria’s office, knocked on the door, and then walked in. Lobo was by the window, with a whiskey glass on one of his hands and the other was clenched into a tight fist.
"Hunter Hemming, it has always been my rule never to trust anyone until I accomplish my goals. I am afraid if I leave the pack now, I might co back and find the tables have turned. Hence, I prefer if you go to Sitka by yourself. " Lobo stated.
"Thank you Alpha," I responded.
"Take my jet. That way I will worry less," He instructed.
"Thank you, Alpha," I nodded and then walked out of the office.
The ride to the airport made my heart be filled with anxiety. I took out my second phone and called Tizheruk. He answered on the first ring and asked, " What happened ?"
"I am headed to Sitka in the pretense that I am going to find my family," I explained.
"I will et you there" He disconnected the call.
I arrived and found a set of enforcers waiting for . We boarded the plane and left for Sitka. Five hours later, we touched down at the airstrip and found two cars waiting for . We drove to the Sitka police post and the officer in charge had a brief. The security caras had been disabled, the enforcers assigned by Lobo were missing, and nothing in my mum’s ho had been taken.
"Thank you, officer. " I nodded at him. We left the police post and headed to Halibut Point where Ma lived. When we got to the house, there was no scent of any wolf. I smiled inwardly, knowing that Tizheruk had been thorough, and promised myself that I would ask him later.
I walked around the house as I stared at the pictures of Ma, Aspen, and Addison. There was another woman in the picture. So this is what Tala ntioned.
"There is no scent of any wolf living here. How is this possible?" I spoke out loudly.
"Sir, that is the status. We searched the area, and no one seems to have seen them. It’s unlike they vanished into thin air," one enforcer responded.
"No one can vanish into thin air," I muttered and went upstairs to check the rooms. After a round of sweeping the house and checking everything, I huffed and said, "Keep guarding to see if sothing or soone cos up"
I left Halibut Point and headed to the hotel since it was already night. After a shower, I left the hotel and took a walk around town. I ended up in a small bar, knowing well that Lobo was following , but I needed to allow Tizheruk to find . Two hours later, I realized that it was getting chilly, and it was about to rain. I left the pub and rushed to the hotel. I was soaking wet when I walked in and decided to use the stairs, as the lifts were already full.
"You are too troubleso," I heard Tizheruks’ voice once I got to the third-floor staircase.
"I have been waiting for you, " I snickered as raindrops dropped from my hair.
"I arrived earlier, but it seems Lobo is no fool. He has Sitka surrounded with enforcers. " Tizheruk chuckled as we went up the stairs.
"But you outsmarted him, right? " I chuckled. "Where are the enforcers who had been sent to protect Ma?"
"You are not bad at acting. Dead. It was best to kill them. " Tizheruk shrugged.
"What?" I gasped.
"Calm down. I had initially locked them in a shed. But I let them go this afternoon and put them in a boat headed to Canada. They will be fine," He responded.
"You are too much," I scolded him.
"Am I? " Tizheruk teased and then took out his phone and dialed. He then handed the phone to .
"Hunter," I heard Ma’s voice at the end of the call.
"Ma," my voice croaked as I heard her burst into tears. "Oh Ma, am glad that you are safe.
"We all are. " Aspen’s voice ca through the phone.
"We missed you so much, Hunter, " Addison’s voice croaked.
"Keep a low profile. I will co to you in due ti. Take care of Ma, please, and send your greetings to Haida. I hope to et her soon, "I responded.
"Thank you, Hunter," Ma whispered. "We shall wait for you"
