Chapter 112: A Jealousy Alpha
Arix’s mind snapped back to reality.
As soon as she rembered the ss from the psychic world, she smacked Cassian on the head with her paw. But the second she did, she realized Cassian’s parents were right there.
Her paw froze. She quickly switched to a gentle pat, rubbing his head softly instead. Everyone around noticed but acted like they didn’t see a thing.
Luna Athyst turned and chuckled. She then coughed to cover it up and, with a kind smile, picked up Arix. "Arix, is the healing done?" she asked, gently stroking Arix’s back.
Seeing that no one called her out, Arix sighed with relief. She nuzzled against Luna Athyst and said in a cutesy voice, "Don’t worry, Cassian is fine now."
"Good, on behalf of Cassian, thank you, Arix." Luna Athyst’s voice was sweet and soothing, her eyes as gentle and captivating as a spring lake.
Arix got lost in her beauty, even drooling a bit. She thought, ’Such a beautiful Luna...’
anwhile, Alpha Leonidas watched with a hint of jealousy, because her wife was seldom so kind and gentle to him.
With a stern face, he said, "Athyst, they’ve had a long journey. They should go back and rest, especially the little cub who needs plenty of sleep."
Snuggled in Luna Athyst’s soft, fragrant embrace, Arix felt so peaceful. ’Gosh, Alpha Leonidas, you’re a grown man, how can you be jealous of a little cub? Can’t she hold
a bit longer?’
Though frustrated, Arix didn’t dare confront Alpha Leonidas. She just burrowed deeper into Luna Athyst’s arms, pretending not to hear him.
Luna Athyst, sensing his jealousy, gave Alpha Leonidas a knowing and slightly annoyed look. Only when he sheepishly turned away did she snort.
"Arix, ignore this old man. Would you stay with Auntie for a few more days?" Luna Athyst’s face softened into a doting smile as she looked at Arix.
Arix was about to agree when Scion’s voice cut in.
"Sorry, Luna Athyst. Everyone back at the clan is waiting for Arix. If she’s done here, I’ll take her back now," Scion said, cold yet polite.
"Fine," Alpha Leonidas quickly agreed.
Luna Athyst rolled her eyes, speechless. She had seen dads sabotage their sons, but never like this. A rare chance for her son to bond, wasted by his own father.
Since Alpha Leonidas had spoken, Luna Athyst couldn’t argue. She sighed inwardly, thinking, ’Son, you’ll have to woo your bride yourself. Your mother did her best.’
With a helpless sigh, Luna Athyst handed Arix over to Scion. She gently patted Arix’s head and said, "Arix, co visit
often, okay?"
"Okay," Arix nodded obediently, rubbing her head against Luna Athyst’s palm for comfort.
Luna Athyst’s heart lted at Arix’s cuteness.
Scion was patiently waiting aside. After the two said goodbyes, he finally took Arix in his arms and left the palace with Duke Glendale.
Shortly after they left, Cassian woke up. The first thing he did was look around anxiously, but there was no sign of Arix.
Thinking it had all been a dream, he let out a depressed howl and slumped back, looking completely defeated.
Luna Athyst covered her eyes, embarrassed by her son’s cluelessness. "Arix has already left. If you go now, you might catch up with her," she said. She pretended to be annoyed but, she was unable to hide her concern.
As soon as she said that, the previously listless Cassian sprang to life and disappeared in a flash.
Watching the empty bed, Luna Athyst shook her head and turned to Alpha Leonidas with a look of disdain. "Look at what you’ve done to our son. He’s so foolish that I almost don’t want to admit he’s mine."
Alpha Leonidas didn’t dare argue; he just smiled and kept quiet.
Seeing that Athyst was still upset, he changed the subject. "Athyst, do you want that little cub to be Cassian’s mate?"
"Yeah, got a problem with that?" Luna Athyst looked questioningly at Alpha Leonidas.
"But she’s from the Alliance," Alpha Leonidas pointed out the crux of the matter.
The Alliance and the Empire, while not mortal enemies, had been at odds for a long ti. Even if they agreed, the other ministers in the Empire would likely oppose it.
After all, Luna was supposed to the role model of all females of the nation. Allowing an outsider to take such a position would surely cause an uproar within the Empire.
Hearing this, Luna Athyst’s eyes, usually soft like spring, instantly turned cold. Her voice icy, she said, "I don’t care if she’s from the Empire or the Alliance. As long as my son likes her, she can even be a non-human. If anyone objects, I’ll beat them into submission."
Alpha Leonidas didn’t argue. Instead, he gently put his arm around his wife’s shoulder and said affectionately, "Athyst, you’re as intimidating as ever."
"If I weren’t, how could I have beco your wife so smoothly?" Luna Athyst poked Alpha Leonidas’s chest with her finger, her tone teasing.
Luna Athyst’s background wasn’t great. When she was young and fell in love with Alpha Leonidas, many ministers opposed their relationship.
Fortunately, she had excellent abilities. Whenever a minister objected, Luna Athyst would find their sons or daughters, who were also her classmates. She’d spar with them daily, always giving them a thorough beating.
This not only vented her frustrations but also kept her actions within the bounds of sparring, avoiding any serious repercussions.
As for retaliation, no therian in the Empire dared to touch Leonidas’s woman.
Getting beaten up by Luna Athyst might result in so injuries, but if Alpha Leonidas got involved, several lives wouldn’t be enough to cover the cost.
In the end, Luna Athyst got what she wanted, but the ministers of the Empire were left pulling their hair out.
Each ti they returned ho, they were greeted by their battered and bruised sons and daughters, who would desperately beg them to stop picking fights they couldn’t win.
As a result, no one dared to oppose Athyst becoming Luna. The ministers had learned their lesson well.
Thinking back on those days, Leonidas’s lips curled into a smile, and his eyes were filled with even deeper affection for his wife.
With her small hand constantly poking at his chest, Leonidas felt his breath quicken.
He swallowed hard, then swiftly scooped Luna Athyst into his arms, disappearing from the room in a flash.
