Chapter 70: Snatching from the Jaws of Disaster
"Holy moly, the lev’s been launched into the sky!" Tyrone shouted, disregarding everything else as he rushed forward in his cha.
"It’s too late, we’re too far away."
"Dang. It’s starting to drop."
"Oh no, what do we do? This is horrible."
"Everyone, hurry up and help!"
"Where’s the insectoid queen? Is it dead?"
"....."
Aside from Tyrone and a few military school students, most people chose to stand by and watch.
As the lev plumted down, Tuss gritted his teeth, trying to prop himself up on shaky hands. But his frail body offered no strength, and he crashed into the ground again.
It’s too late. Tuss knew it, his crimson eyes filled with regret and defiance.
He still wasn’t strong enough.
Just as the wrecked the lev seed about to crash to the ground, a flash of red and green suddenly entered everyone’s field of view.
Who is it? What are they going to do? Before anyone could think, they saw the red and green the lev suddenly open its car window, launching out two tal chains, thick as a child’s wrist.
The lev’s color looked so familiar, and so the way it moved. People recalled the scene at the Yuda morial Hospital. Their eyes open wide, filled with excitent and anticipation. But last ti it was a healing pod. This ti it is a large the lev, dozens of tis heavier. Can those two chains handle it? Cand the small the lev bear the load?
Under everyone’s gaze, the two chains, seemingly sentient, instantly wrapped around both ends of the lev. The chains tightened, and the red and green the lev shook violently, tugged by the falling lev.
"The big the lev is slowing down."
"It’s under control, unbelievably."
"How did those ordinary chains wrap around the big the lev? I need an explanation."
"Sa question."
"Maybe it’s so mystic art."
As the word "mystic" surfaced, silence fell on the public channel. But within two seconds, soone shouted, "The small lev can’t rise. It’s going to land."
"Hang in there, small lev."
"It’s struggling to ascend."
"It can’t hold much longer, its power unit is smoking. Now we need to find a place to land the big the lev."
"Find a place? It can’t even fly."
"Wait, Tyrone is here."
Tyrone, who had rushed over, finally arrived. Without any hesitation, he maneuvered his cha underneath the large lev, propping it up from below.
Seeing this, others who had arrived later followed suit.
For now, the large lev was safe.
"Is the insectoid queen dead?" Soone asked again on the public channel.
But no one could answer.
Yuri was flying the lev towards the safe zone, with Tyrone, Hoolin, and others accompanying him. Left behind were a group of unconscious soldiers, and Tuss, conscious but unable to move.
"Tuss, are you still alive?" Vernon asked over the public channel.
"Tuss, if you’re alive, give us a sign." This was Delamak.
"Should we also go check it out? The insectoid queen hasn’t moved." Jo suggested.
"Let’s go check it out."
And with that, they left him behind.
Tuss lowered his gaze, his eyebrows heavy with sorrow. He knew her decision was right, but he still felt a profound sense of loss.
Sadness and loneliness sprouted from within him, taking root and growing uncontrollably.
A knock echoed from the outside, "Tuss, are you okay?"
Tuss pursed his lips, choosing to stay silent.
"Tuss, if you’re alright, give us a sign. If you don’t respond, we’ll assu you’re unconscious and will forcefully dismantle the cha from the outside," the person outside said.
"I’m alive. Leave
alone," Tuss replied with a note of desolation.
The people outside the cha exchanged confused glances. What happened?
"Should we check on the others first?" soone suggested.
Others nodded, "Since he’s alive, let’s leave him be. An advanced alpha’s physical resilience is remarkable; he won’t die that easily."
Tuss thought to himself, ...Is that what Yuri thinks too?
Laying out flat, he muttered to himself, "If Yuri won’t co, then I won’t get up."
Elsewhere, Yuri and the others had safely delivered the Lev. Those waiting at the safe zone imdiately began rescuing the people inside the Lev.
When they returned, a protection and dical team was dispatched from the safe zone to accompany them.
Upon seeing the massive insectoid queen, the team mbers turned pale, "There was a level-five insectoid queen on planet 132?"
The thought of living so close to such a creature for so many days sent chills down their spines.
"Thank goodness it’s dead," one of the dical team mbers said.
"Is it really dead?" Tyrone asked uncertainly.
"It’s dead. We can tell whether it’s alive or not," a doctor confidently stated.
"Died in a mysterious way," Tyrone mumbled.
Yuri, who had been quiet, stowed the lev inside the dinsional button and walked towards the nearby cha.
"Yuri, quickly check on Tuss. He’s refusing to co out," Vernon urged anxiously.
Yuri frowned, quickening her pace.
The person inside the cha, presumably Tuss, had a slightly weak but regular breathing pattern, indicating no serious issues.
As Yuri approached the cha, the hatch door opened.
Seeing this, Vernon and the others smirked to themselves. So, it has been a waste of our concern. Tuss, the double-standard jerk, we’ll rember this.
Once inside the cha, Yuri detected a faint woody aroma.
"Headache?" Yuri gently pressed on his temples, massaging them lightly. Tuss needed ntal soothing, but having just engaged in a psychic power struggle with the insectoid queen, her Ocean of Awareness was injured, limiting her assistance.
There were two A-tier betas in the dical team she had seen earlier; maybe they could help.
Yuri considered this but didn’t speak up. Her intuition told her that ntioning it would only upset Tuss.
"I can endure it," Tuss straightened up, asking in return, "What about your head? Does it hurt?"
Yuri nodded, "Yes, it hurts. A mix of pain, aching, throbbing, and numbness."
A flicker of concern passed through Tuss’s eyes, "Go get so sleep."
The pain of the Ocean of Awareness couldn’t be alleviated with dicine, it could only be slept away. The best redy was to get ample sleep, allowing the brain to rest.
Tuss held Yuri’s hand as they exited the cha together.
The people present looked at them, then silently shifted their gaze away, scoffing inwardly, Such a grown man, still needing to be coaxed. Shaless.
Yet they did also feel a strange twinge of envy.
They decided to sleep in the lev and continue their volunteer work after they woke up naturally.
Yuri entered first, and as Tuss was about to follow, one of the A-tier betas from the dical team spoke up, "Tuss, please wait a mont."
Tuss looked indifferent and impatient, asking, "What is it?"
It was the first ti the A-tier beta had been treated so coldly. Far from being angry, she found it refreshing and said with a laugh, "Your Sea of Consciousness is in disarray. You need a beta to help you sort it out. I can assist you."
