Chapter 138: Enova Level-seven
Ever since the news spread that Yuri was an SSS-tier beta, the energy around Planet alpha was palpable, breaking all historical records for visitor traffic.
The route between Military Academy No. 1 and the Grand Theater buzzed with activity each evening. Countless people would wait there every night. Yuri would pass by on her way to the theater to conduct her Sea of Consciousness grooming sessions for the alphas waiting there. The people lined the route hoping to catch a glimpse of Yuri.
But what they didn’t know was that Yuri usually slept in the car, oblivious to the world outside and the people waiting for her.
They only saw a car pass by.
But they weren’t disheartened.
Soone posted about it on the interstellar web and asked, "You guys wait for so long, just to see a car?"
One person replied quickly, "Of course not, we’re just hoping that one day, our heroine might roll down the window and wave at us."
"I’m different from the rest. I’m not here to see Yuri, but to protect her. My family still awaits her help, and I don’t want any harm to co to her. There’s nowhere else I could be but here. If there’s any danger, I’m prepared to risk my own life to protect her."
"Exactly, that’s also my goal. To protect Yuri, even if it’s just for a short distance."
"So, we all feel the sa way."
"FYI, Yuri’s mostly sleeping in the car, like deep sleep."
"Understandable. The Sea of Consciousness grooming must be draining, she should get plenty of rest."
"..."
The Grand Theater was massive, it could easily accommodate tens of thousands.
Nowadays, the alphas needing psychic power grooming were mostly of lower levels, and Yuri had Officer Lyao increase the number to a thousand.
It took her four hours to groom a thousand people. She arrived at the theater promptly at seven every evening and left right at eleven.
Tuss accompanied her every night without fail.
He was worried about her, especially when she was at her most vulnerable after the grooming sessions. He didn’t trust anyone else to take care of her.
While Yuri was grooming others, he would read a book or handle so business matters.
"Looks like these busy days are going to continue for a while," Yuri sighed.
Tuss rubbed her temples and said, "If you’re tired, have Officer Lyao call it off for a while."
"It’s not that. I’ll be fine after a good sleep. I wake up feeling better than the day before, I feel my Enova is near level seven. I feel bad for you, always accompanying
here, your training has been disrupted," Yuri said, sounding frustrated, "The people from the Empire never let us rest easy. And that Jira, after causing so much trouble, got off scot-free. I swear, if I ever see her, I’ll make her pay."
"Officer Lyao has been cleaning up the Alliance internally, but the Empire’s infiltration is deep and can’t be purged overnight. We need to be cautious. As for Jira, she’s been avoiding you lately, she’s scared of you," Tuss said.
"Humph, she should be. If I see her, I’ll give her a taste of her own dicine," Yuri grumbled through gritted teeth.
"That day will co," Tuss comforted her.
Another evening, Yuri finished her grooming sessions for the alphas and was on her way back from the Grand Theater to the gates of Military Academy No. 1. As soon as she stepped out of the car, gunshots rang out.
Tuss, holding the sleeping Yuri, darted away at a speed that was faster than the bullets. When they reappeared, they were already inside the campus.
The skirmish at the school gate lasted only a few minutes. All enemies were defeated and so of their guards were injured, but thankfully no lives were lost.
Yuri was still asleep, and this ti Tuss was too busy dodging bullets to envelop her with his Enova. Given the noise, she should’ve woken up.
"Yuri?" Tuss whispered.
Yuri frowned but didn’t wake.
Tuss thought she was exhausted, so he hurried back to their villa. It took less than five minutes. He laid her on the bed and examined her complexion.
She was a bit flushed.
He felt her forehead. Her temperature was normal. What is going on?
Confused, Tuss was about to ssage Professor Gawk when a loud buzzing noise echoed from above Military Academy No. 1. He looked out the window to see a sky covered in darkness. What is that?
Tuss used his opticomputer’s high-power lens to take a few pictures and searched the interstellar web.
"Necroflutter, level-five insectoids looking like butterflies, specialized in psychic power attacks."
Even Tuss, always calm, was taken aback. He imdiately sent a ssage to Officer Lyao, contacted the school’s guard team, and then inford Ender and the Daleks.
After that, he hurriedly closed the windows and doors and turned off all the lights in the villa.
Above Military Academy No. 1, chas had already taken off, and fireballs exploded in the sky.
"How did these things get here?"
"They must have been lured."
"My head’s about to explode. Fall back! Long-range attack!"
"Where are the students?"
"In the dorms. With these level-five insectoids on the ground, stepping outside would an certain death."
"United Army, exterminate these bugs."
"Yes, sir."
The "necro" in "Necroflutter" demonstrated their lethal power.
The psychic power of these level-five insectoids, especially in groups, was overwhelming. As they descended, the students at Military Academy No. 1 were jerked awake from their sleep. Those with weaker abilities bled from their orifices and passed out imdiately.
"We can’t go on like this. The students won’t survive."
"Send soone to evacuate the students."
"Who can withstand the psychic pressure of the level-five insectoids? Moreover, how many can we evacuate?"
"Every life counts."
"Go."
The dorms were filled with cries of agony as the students twisted in pain, their bodies convulsing.
"Am I going to die?" Soone asked.
No one could answer; they didn’t know either.
The students’ eyes slowly began to glaze over, their gazes vacant—
In the villa district, Tuss stood at the window, controlling the tal and eliminating any level-five insectoids approaching the villa.
His own condition wasn’t good. Nurous psychic attacks were targeting him, and he couldn’t hold on much longer.
"Yuri, wake up," Tuss called out.
On the bed, Yuri’s eyelids fluttered.
Who’s calling ?
Who’s screaming?
Who’s crying?
Yuri heard many voices, so familiar, so not. Each one was filled with pain, and it tugged painfully at her heart.
The next second, she jerked her eyes open.
At the sa ti, a level-seven psychic power pressure surged like a tide, radiating out from the villa in all directions.
Wherever her psychic power reached, all of the Level Five insectoids instantly beca stupefied, rigid, completely motionless.
"Eh, the psychic attack has disappeared."
"Look at those Death Star Butterflies, they’re not moving."
"Shoot one and see."
"It’s dead."
The soldiers and guards were astounded. Almost all of the Necroflutters had died within a second, leaving everyone wonder who had just saved them.
