Chapter 36

Layla Lowell saw her, first surprised, then frowning, "Why is it you?"

Chloe Collins lightly patted the seat next to her, "Sit down and let’s talk."

Layla put her hands in her pockets, looking defensive, "If you have sothing to say, just say it."

Heijii couldn’t help but make a sound and said, "You girl, our boss is kindly helping you, what’s with your attitude?"

Layla raised her eyebrow and sneered, "Boss?"

She looked at Chloe Collins with an incredulous gaze, "Who the hell are you?"

Chloe Collins pinched a photo between her fingers and threw it to her, "Do you recognize this person?"

Layla skillfully caught the thrown photo, looked down, and a trace of astonishnt flashed through her eyes.

"It looks like you recognize her." Chloe Collins concluded.

Then, she slowly said, "You’ve been assisting Professor Howard in his experints as his assistant since you were seven. After returning to your family at the age of fifteen, you proposed a plan to reform the company. However, after Professor Howard suddenly passed away, your proposal was not adopted by your father. Ever since then, you’ve been hanging out with the gangsters around Long Street. On the surface, your behavior has changed drastically, but in reality, it’s to secretly guard the underground laboratory nearby."

Pausing for a mont, Chloe Collins slightly hooked her lips, "If my guess is correct, that laboratory was established by Professor Howard to avoid trouble. All these years, he’s been secretly conducting a dical experint that was ordered to stop eighteen years ago, right?"

Layla’s gaze beca deep and guarded as she looked at her.

"What do you want to do?"

Chloe Collins said lightly, "Do you know Joy Taylor?"

Layla’s palm began to sweat, "I know, but what is the relevance?"

Chloe Collins smiled slowly, "I am her daughter."

Shock shattered Layla’s expression, and it took her a long ti to say anything.

Chloe Collins signaled to Heijii to bring out a contract.

"This is a contract. I sincerely invite you to join my research team."

"In exchange, I will handle Luna Lowell’s matter for you. You should know that if Luna Lowell signs a contract with Therand, the Lowells will soon beco a subsidiary of Therand."

Layla gripped the corner of the contract, "Why should I trust you?"

Chloe Collins was not in a hurry, just replied, "You can think about it. After all, it’s quite difficult for you to protect Professor Howard’s laboratory on your own. If trouble cos, you won’t be able to handle it."

As she finished speaking, her gaze shifted forward, "Heijii, start the car."

Heijii responded and imdiately got into the car, closed the door, and drove off.

Layla stood there holding the contract for a long ti, without moving from the spot.

-

Heijii checked the ti, and it was exactly one thirty. He asked, "Boss, are we going back to school now?"

"..." No response.

He glanced in the mirror and saw Chloe Collins leaning her head slightly on the backseat, asleep.

He hurriedly turned off the music and tried to breathe as quietly as possible.

He had been following her for almost three years, from initially looking down on her to now completely obeying her, he felt deep emotions.

Every decision she made was very accurate and hit the nail on the head.

For example, this ti, she rely provided a direction for him to investigate Luna Lowell’s birth information and effortlessly stopped the signing of the contract.

Chloe Collins also found a breakthrough in the underground laboratory that Layla had been struggling to protect. She traced half a year’s worth of Layla’s activities and easily found the truth.

Although she was very powerful, she was still a mortal and would get tired too.

It would be nice if soone could share half the burden with her.

Heijii thought about it for a while, but couldn’t find a suitable candidate.
