Chapter 724: 302 Great Show Begins!_2

What’s even more terrifying…it wasn’t the records that were lost, but the safes that locked the records, each weighing over ten tons.

When these safes were discovered, they had been torn open from the side, the most important contents inside vanished without a trace, and the self-destruct systems of the safes had failed to function properly.

At that ti, the Great Elder had already guessed who the person behind this was.

On Emperor Star, apart from the Supermodified people controlled by the Elder Court, both openly and secretively, there was only one individual with such formidable destructive power and the ability to move freely on the highly-guarded Emperor Star—they surely had an identity plate.

“Is the Emperor truly going to act against us?”

The Great Elder sighed.

He sat in the Senate’s lounge, on a sofa, staring at the clock that had hung on the wall for many years.

The clock was made of an alloy.

Various types of alloys, the most commonly used materials in daily life, the essence of alloys is mixing, blending, allowing the tals of each elent to be proportionally harmonized under set conditions.

Isn’t power the sa?

Stable power is like a pair of gloves mottled in black and white—there is no purely black or white, no simple opposition, nor a clear sense of right and wrong.

It has been customary for generations in the Elder Court to control dead soldiers; he was rely following the traditions of the Elder Court.

Unexpectedly, this had beco the handle that the Emperor used to grasp them.

Now that things had co to this, what could the Elder Court still do?

Strike first?

The Great Elder furrowed his brows and pondered, his gaze inadvertently capturing a pigeon flying past the window when he sighed again and took out the communicator, issued to all elders, from his coat pocket.

“Inform all mbers of the Elder Court stationed on Emperor Star, to assemble at the Imperial Palace module and wait.”

“Have the Supermodified Organization mbers protect all the elders’ safety.”

The Great Elder sighed again, gazing blankly at the wall.

Catherine, dressed in a black trench coat, sat quietly by the window of her residence.

Four supermodified female team mbers waited inside or just outside the room, occasionally glancing at Catherine by the window, each harboring a hint of worry in their eyes.

She had not spoken for half a day.

On the plate beside Catherine were so reheated fast foods, and the cup of warm water, sipped just once, had long been untouched.

A female team mber sighed, “Captain, not drinking water, not eating, even as supermodified people we won’t last, we are still biological beings.”

“The White Ghost might not necessarily be in trouble, Captain, think about it, the Ancient God Life Forms are so powerful, with that level of explosion, there should at least be so remains left, and yet there’s nothing, it must… Ouch! Ouch!”

The speaking lady was abruptly silenced by a teammate covering her mouth and sternly chastised:

“If you can’t speak properly, then shut up!”

“Thank you, I’m fine now,” Catherine’s hoarse voice ca through, she turned her head and smiled, “Everyone go back, there are patrol duties.”

“This patrol duty is aningless, Emperor Star doesn’t need us supermodified people to function.”

“Yes Captain, let us stay with you, if they want to dock our allowances, let them.”

Buzz, buzz!

Ding ding!

“Black Magic Pretty Girl Transformation! biubiubiu! I represent Emperor Star to eliminate you!”

The communicators of the five supermodified people in the room went off simultaneously; Catherine and three female team mbers looked towards the one who had been silenced earlier, who now displayed a silly smile while sheepishly scratching her head.

“Captain, the command center has issued orders; assemble near the Imperial Palace module, ensure the safety of all elders.”

“I received it too.”

“It should be an order for all supermodified people.”

Catherine exhaled softly, “Prepare to depart.”

“Captain, you should rest.”

“I’m fine,” Catherine whispered softly, “I won’t bring my emotions into my work.”

“But…”

Ding, ding!

Catherine picked up the communicator, looking at the newly popped-up order, her expression grew even worse.

It was the second order from the organizational departnt, telling her to stay put and not to move recklessly.

“You guys go,” Catherine said softly.

“Then, Captain, please stay safe.”

The four team mbers, sowhat worried, gave a few more admonitions before quickly leaving the room and closing the door.

Catherine took a deep breath, slowly lowering her head to look at the palm lines on her hand.

Her palm skin was smooth and delicate.

Previously unobservant of such details, she had recently started consciously applying chemicals to moisturize her skin; before coming to Emperor Star, she also went to the care center for full skin whitening and maintenance treatnts.

Suddenly, Catherine clenched her fist.

Scenes from the accident site assaulted her brain;

In this room, the repeated passionate monts turned into cold and distant mories;

Those scenes that had once overwheld her surged before her eyes.

In the despairing hell, screaming slaves of the Empire;

Those Imperial Nobles who brandished thorns and whips with sinister smiles;

Under the glossy exterior, filthy and degenerate souls!

They gnawed on the marrow of the Empire like vampires yet stood above the masses enjoying all the privileges!

Is this the Empire?

Is this the Empire she loyally served, willing to sacrifice her life for a high-dinsional experint at the age of forty?

“Captain Catherine, have you thought about it? What is the purpose of the high-dinsional experint? To confirm the path to high-dinsionality, to turn human individuals into high-dinsional beings, once this path succeeds, who benefits?”

“The descendants of the Imperial Nobles benefit.”

Why?

Why should they?

Catherine’s eyes flickered with a faint golden light.
