Chapter 220: Spying For Soone

While the royals were imrsed in their emotions, Amarok approached the sitting area with a silver tray of fresh fruits.

His steps were steady, his mind focused on offering a small reprieve to the royal family during this tense ti.

The soft glow of the afternoon sun stread through the arched windows, casting a serene light over the passage way.

As he neared the door, his eyes caught a figure crouched near it, her ear pressed against the wood. His steps faltered and his brow furrowed as recognition set in.

It was the sa servant girl he had confronted days ago outside Queen Elena’s healing chamber.

The girl’s posture was tense, her head tilted toward the muffled voices inside the room. Amarok paused, retreating silently behind a pillar. His instincts flared, his gut churning. Once might have been a coincidence, but twice? This was no accident. The girl was undoubtedly spying.

He watched her closely, noting the way her hands fidgeted nervously. Her shoulders twitched at the faintest sound, and every few monts, she glanced over her shoulder, scanning the corridor for any sign of approach. She was so engrossed in her eavesdropping that she failed to notice Amarok’s piercing gaze from his hiding spot.

Suddenly, a loud noise echoed from within the room, a chair scraping against the floor. The girl jerked back as though she’d been burned. Her eyes went wide, and for a split second, she froze, her hand halfway to her mouth in panic. Then, like a frightened animal, she bolted down the corridor, her footsteps loud against the stone floors.

Amarok stepped out from his hiding spot, his expression grim as he watched her retreat. His grip on the tray tightened, his thoughts raced with questions. Who was she working for? What could her motive be?

He took a mont to collect himself, adjusting the tray in his hands before pushing the door open.

Whatever the girl’s intentions, he would not let them go unaddressed.

Inside, the royals were still processing the ssenger’s news. King Xavian stood near the ssenger, his voice calm but firm as he asked for details about Eirik’s condition. Morgana sat with her hands clasped tightly, her lips moving in a silent prayer of gratitude. Theron had taken a seat beside her, his brows furrowed in deep thought.

Queen Elena, sat gracefully and observed the Valeidio royal family with a mix of relief and sadness.

Amarok entered quietly and placed the tray on the table, bowing slightly. "Forgive the intrusion, Your Majesties, Your Highness" he said, his voice calm, betraying none of the turmoil in his mind.

Xavian acknowledged him with a nod before turning back to the ssenger. "Tell Queen Aveline that we are grateful for the care her healers have given my son," he said firmly. "And let her know that her kindness will not be forgotten."

The ssenger and the guard bowed and exited the room, leaving the family to their thoughts.

Morgana broke the silence, her voice soft but tinged with an edge of concern. "Amarok, haven’t I told you before to stop doing servant work for them? You’re no longer a servant, for gods’ sake. You’re part of this family already, please."

Amarok’s cheeks flushed slightly. "I’m sorry, Your Maj..."

"Mother," Morgana interrupted. "It’s mother to you, Amarok." Her voice was gentle yet insistent.

"I’m sorry, Mother," Amarok corrected, his tone quieter.

Elena smiled warmly at the exchange. "Let the poor boy be, Morgana. Can’t you see he enjoys doing it? It seems to

he misses the twins and is looking for sothing to keep himself busy."

Amarok’s blush deepened at her remark, the crimson spreading across his cheeks and up to his ears. The accuracy of Queen Elena’s observation hit too close to ho.

Theron raised an eyebrow, a smirk tugging at the corner of his lips, while Xavian let out a low chuckle.

Morgana sighed but softened. "Oh, my lovely Amarok," she said, her voice gentle. "Don’t worry, the twins will be back soon. Eirik is finally awake."

Amarok’s eyes lit up with a mix of relief and excitent. "Really?" he asked, his voice rising slightly as his usual composure slipped.

"Prince Eirik is finally awake? And... and the twins will be back soon?"

The royal family couldn’t help but smile at Amarok’s exuberance. His joy was infectious, montarily lifting the somber mood that had settled over the room.

Morgana nodded, her smile tender. " Yes dear."

For a mont, the room felt lighter as everyone watched Amarok’s unguarded reaction.

But just as quickly as his excitent had co, a flicker of unease crossed Amarok’s face. He hesitated, glancing toward Xavian.

"Your Majesty..." he began, his tone shifting to sothing more serious.

The king raised an amused eyebrow. "So you can call her ’Mother,’ but not call

’Father’? What kind of injustice is this?" he asked, feigning offense.

The room erupted in quiet laughter, and Amarok stamred, his face flushing once more. "I...I’m sorry, Your...uhm, Fa...father."

Xavian chuckled. "There you go!" he said, clearly enjoying Amarok’s cute embarrassnt. "Now, what is it you wanted to say?"

Amarok took a deep breath, steadying himself. "Father, there’s sothing important I need to inform you," he said, his voice gaining confidence.

The room fell silent, as all eyes on him.

"I... I once caught a servant outside Queen Elena’s healing chamber before," he began, carefully choosing his words. "I saw her again just now... eavesdropping outside this very room."

The atmosphere shifted instantly and Xavian’s expression darkened, his tone sharp. "Eavesdropping?"

"Yes, Your... ehm... Father," Amarok confird.

"This ti, I’m certain she’s no ordinary servant. I didn’t confront her directly, but she fled the mont she thought she might be caught."

The room grew tense as the implications sank in. Elena and Morgana exchanged worried glances, while Theron leaned forward, his jaw tightening.

"What did she look like?" Theron asked, his voice low and steady.

Amarok described the girl in detail, the nervous energy in her movents, the way she seed too alert for soone rely passing by. "She’s not just curious," he added. "She’s hiding sothing. Or spying for soone."

"Who could she be working for?" Theron muttered, his voice grim.

"That’s what we need to find out," Xavian said, his voice a low growl. "Thank you for bringing this information to our attention, Amarok. You did well."

Amarok bowed slightly.

Xavian turned to Theron, his expression resolute. "Son, you know what to do."

Theron nodded, his gaze hard. "Of course, Father."

Xavian turned to Theron, his expression grim. "Son, you know what to do."

Theron nodded, his features set in determination. "Of course, Father."
