Chapter 406: Izaak’s Past 6 free??ebnovel

In the soft morning light, Izaak woke to find Roseline peacefully asleep beside him. Her soft tresses lay scattered over the pillow, and with a tender smile, Izaak gently ran his fingers through them. He leaned down to plant a delicate kiss on her forehead before carefully slipping out of bed, trying not to disturb her slumber.

After bathing and dressing in his formal robes, Izaak found himself in an unusually cheerful mood. His heart light, he turned to Zerah and said, "There will be no work for

today. I intend to spend the entire day with my wife."

"Of course, Your Highness," Zerah replied with a respectful bow. "I will clear your schedule imdiately." With that, Zerah exited the chamber.

Izaak made his way to the royal garden, his thoughts consud by how little ti he’d dedicated to romance lately. He wanted to surprise Roseline with flowers, so he wandered through the garden, contemplating whether roses or peonies would please her more. As he knelt to pick a few, a familiar voice broke the quiet.

"I told you I didn’t want to be disturbed today," Izaak said, his tone firm as he turned to face Zerah.

"Forgive , Your Highness," Zerah said, bowing again. "I am not here on business. I thought you would like to know that Prince Magnus has just arrived at the palace. He will only be here for an hour before departing again. Since you expressed a desire to see him last ti, I believed it necessary to inform you."

"Hm." Izaak furrowed his brows in mild irritation, rembering how he never enjoyed being lectured by Magnus. Still, he had a genuine concern for his younger brother’s well-being, and the desire to check on him outweighed his reluctance.

Making his way to the chamber where Magnus was resting, Izaak entered to find his brother reclining on a sofa, eyes closed, as if stealing a brief mont of peace. Without hesitation, Izaak seated himself across from him, his expression softening slightly.

"Why don’t you stay the night here?" Izaak suggested, his tone less formal than usual. "And instead of sleeping on that sofa, you can use the bed. You should rest properly."

Magnus, without opening his eyes fully, tilted his head slightly, his lips curling into a faint smirk. "I never asked you to intrude on my rest, Izaak," he replied, his voice laced with both fatigue and a hint of sarcasm.

Izaak shook his head, ignoring the barbed remark. He knew Magnus often used sharp words to mask his true feelings, and he wasn’t going to be deterred today.

"I couldn’t thank you properly last ti. I ignored what you told ," Izaak admitted, his voice quieter, betraying a hint of regret. He glanced down briefly, feeling the weight of unresolved emotions.

Magnus, sensing the shift, softened his tone as he replied, "That was the past. Have you really not moved on yet? It’s been ten years since your marriage to Roseline."

Izaak exhaled slowly. "Falling in love for the first ti is... different," he mused. "But I have moved on. Roseline is a wonderful woman, and I trust her more than I trust myself now."

Magnus nodded approvingly, a rare mont of gentleness in his usually sharp deanor. "That’s good to hear."

Izaak leaned forward slightly, a playful glint in his eyes as he shifted the conversation. "And what about you, Magnus? Have you found soone yet? I heard from Alaric that Scarlet was asking about you a few weeks ago."

A small, knowing smile tugged at Izaak’s lips, but Magnus remained unfazed. "I’m not easy to fall in love, Izaak. Truth to be told, I find it a waste of ti," Magnus said with a shrug, his tone firm. "I’m content living alone, doing what I want without anyone intruding. That’s how I prefer it."

Izaak chuckled softly, shaking his head. "You always say that, but one day, soone will co along and make you eat your words."

"We’ll see," Magnus muttered, a faint smirk on his lips, though his eyes remained distant. "That will never be Scarlet," Magnus muttered in a sharper tone. "So, my dear brother, don’t try to set

up with her. I hate it."

Izaak chuckled softly. "I won’t, rest assured." He knew better than to push Magnus on matters of the heart. His brother had always been hard to break, seemingly uninterested in won or romance. Magnus was the type who found comfort in solitude, preferring his own company over anyone else’s.

For a brief mont, the room fell silent, until Magnus broke it with an unexpected question. "Have you had a vision?"

Izaak blinked, confused by the sudden shift. "A vision? About what?" he asked, his gaze searching Magnus’s face for clarity.

"About your wife and you," Magnus clarified, his eyes narrowing slightly as he studied Izaak’s reaction.

Izaak furrowed his brows, not understanding the depth of the question. "No, I haven’t," he answered slowly. "Why do you ask?"

Magnus leaned back, his gaze distant once again. "I just thought you might have... after all these years." His cryptic words lingered, leaving Izaak unsettled as if there was sothing more his brother wasn’t saying. "You get vision for everyone, but not for your own married life. Isn’t that strange?"

"It’s not strange," Izaak replied.

"It’s my ti to leave. We had enough conversation," Magnus sat up before rising to his feet.

"Why do your hair look damp?" Izaak finally noticed that.

"I went into a lake to rescue a little girl," Magnus replied.

"A human?" Izaak arched his eyebrow and stood up as well. The two brothers walked out of the chamber.

"Yes, the girl was a human," Magnus answered.

"You never get involved with humans," Izaak said.

"She asked for help and I did. How did I get involved with a human?" Magnus chuckled as they continued to walk straight in the corridor.

"You helped a human which is weird. You don’t help unless you want sothing," Izaak stated.

"Maybe today I wanted nothing," Magnus answered. "I take my leave, Brother. Have a great married life," he said and headed in the other direction, leaving Izaak alone at his place.
