Chapter 44: Chapter 44
It seems wolves were too stunned to speak with
now, especially those that would pick on . Every ti I would make eye contact with one of the boys that teased
or one of Paige’s minions, they would scurry away and leave whatever room I was in.
"Good Lord, I was born way before the book ca out." I watched her face fall, her big green eyes losing the sparkle that was held within them.
"Okay you got , Emilia isn’t my real na." ’That’s a lie and you know it.’ I huffed as my wolf spoke, waving her away.
"Really?!" I nodded, clearly amused at her excited look. She was practically bouncing in front of , her hand digging around in her bag before pulling out a tattered copy of her book. She opened it to show
John Green’s signature on the inside cover, before pulling out her own Sharpie.
"Can you please sign this for ? You’re the first Emilia I’ve ever t, and the book seriously changed ."
I furrowed my eyebrows before warily taking the sharpie, signing Emilia Marsh on the opposite cover. I gave it back to her while she let out a squeal, my wolf ears practically bleeding on their own. She spun and sprinted down the hallway, a huge grin on her face as she clutched the book to her chest.
"What the fuck was that about?" I grinned as Wesley began walking down the hallway to , his face full of amusent.
"Is your na really not Emilia?" I shook my head, shutting my locker before hoisting my backpack up higher on my shoulders.
"It’s my real na, decided to treat her a bit." He grinned and leaned down, placing a soft kiss on my lips.
"Go on a date with
tonight. No drama, no ssy fathers or mothers, just you and ." I grinned before nodding, leaning in as he wrapped his arms around . Maybe I’d have the happy ending I wanted.

I stood before our closet, eyeing every piece of clothing I had. I practically dragged Jas and Philip into the bedroom with , forcing them to sit and help . It may be cliche and completely stereotypical, but I needed girlfriends to help with my clothes and they were the closest thing I had. Andrew would go into over protective brother mode, while Wesley wouldn’t care and would just tell
I was beautiful in everything I tried on. Jas would at least tell
if I looked fat and Philip surprisingly had really good taste.
I pulled on light jeans with a striped shirt, letting my dark hair fall down in its natural curls. I knew it was cold but I didn’t really have any jackets, so I tugged on one of Wesley’s blue cargo jackets, grinning and how it didn’t swallow
for once. I walked out and was t with sounds of approval from both Jas and Philip, before tugging on so black Toms. "Emilia! Are you ready?" Wesley hollered from downstairs, my eyes rolling as I slid down the banister.
Still my favorite thing about the house. I leaped when I hit the end, jumping right in front of an amused Wesley. "You know stairs are there for a reason, right?" I rolled my eyes again before grabbing his hand and tugging him outside, settling into the passenger side of his car. I grinned while he drove, not bothering to ask where we were going because I knew he’d just say ’it’s a surprise’. Cliche, but he thought I’d love it, and he wouldn’t be wrong. He finally pulled up to a building with only one car in the parking lot, my eyebrows furrowing in confusion. "Where exactly are we?" "Co on, you’ll see." I opened the door and followed him into the dark building, his hand gripping mine when the lights suddenly flashed on.
A huge ice rink stood before , the cold air blasting against my cheeks. Soft music played out of the speakers, Ed Sheehan and John Mayer lyrics hitting my ears as I grinned and looked back up to Wesley. "I rember Freshman year, we went to Seattle and to a big Ice Rink. You couldn’t go with us to the Ice Rink, and now I know why. I rember you being really sad about it, although you didn’t let others know. I don’t know how I knew, but whenever I looked at you, I saw how sad you got when soone talked about the rink." I flung my arms around him and kissed him all over his face, grinning against his skin. Goddess, he was so amazing. "I seriously love you so much right now." He chuckled before leading
over to a counter where a short man stood, grinning at us.
He handed over skates after we told him our shoe sizes, Wesley having to practically hold
up as soon as I laced up my skates. I wish I could say he was cute and held
while I skated, and picked up skating beautifully, but it was like I was a newborn deer. I clutched onto the walls and yelled at Wesley, who seriously laughed at
while skating around . Jerk.
I finally started to get the hang of it to the point where I wasn’t flailing around when he took hold of my arm and lifted
gently, my skates barely grazing the ice. He spun around with
in his arms, taking control of my body so I didn’t fall. "When did you get so good at this?" I laughed as I finally was set back on the ice, his hand holding mine as he tugged
along. "Since freshman year, I ca back every couple of weeks and just skated. Cleared my mind off whatever was going on." I grinned as he spoke, kissing him gently.
We finished after a few hours and made our way to a local greasy burger restaurant, grabbing a few before heading back to the pack house. Once we reached it we flew up to his bedroom and turned Netflix on, I changed into one of his shirts and a pair of boy shorts while he threw off all of the decorative pillows his mom insisted on. I put on Bob’s Burgers while he changed into his sweats and no t-shirt, my wolf practically moaning inside of .
’I’d rather taste him than those burgers.’
’Good Goddess Alicia, get your hormones in check!’ ’Like you could say any differently?’
’...shut up.’ He finally flung himself on the bed with a burger in his hand, his eyes set on the TV. I grinned and watched him, the way his sandy hair was curling at the ends and his ocean eyes practically reeled
in.
