Chapter 86: Have you told him?

When the last cult mber fell, the Divine Decree was finally completed, bathing Saige in another small column of divine light as his Devotion stat increased as easily as breathing. Not just that, but he was gifted a new spell as a reward for the Quest.

Purging fla, his version of the mage’s fireball. Although it was a little weaker than the mage’s option, It was most effective against unholy entities, or those that were shunned by the gods. Undead and people like ’Master Madik’ for example, would be hard more by the Purging Fla. The fact that it was related to how they had completed the quest didn’t go unnoticed, and even made a few of them smile.

It was always nice when gas reflected how you played, and if they could tailor rewards based on how they played, then making their builds would be even better and would feel so much more earned than getting a random spell that, while good, is totally useless to you.

Belladonna did quite a good job hiding her envy and irritation that her brother had been simply handed more power, muttering under her breath about ’privilege’ and ’Golden finger’ as she rifled through the belongings of the dead ’Master Madik’ along with the other cultists. If Saige got themselves a reward, she was going to get one too.

The disgusting source didn’t give her nearly enough power, and she could still taste that disgusting taste in her mouth.

"Aww, Don’t be jealous Sis. You could always reset and pick an easier class. I don’t mind waiting around to carry you." Saige said and, whilst the words sounded sincere and thoughtful, the smug smirk on his stupid face made it clear he was being anything but helpful.

"No, No. You have your Golden thumb you can suck on. I’ll stick with this class. I like it, and besides, not all of us need to have everything handed to us. So of us like to work for our power.... Although sotis I wish life would throw

a freaking bone."

The last sentence was muttered, although Saige’s fluffy ears still picked it up as he laughed softly.

In an attempt to appease his definitely not jealous sister, Saige gave up his share of the loot, which allowed Lilith and Belladonna to split it evenly between themselves. Which was good, because there really wasn’t much to begin with.

For all of his big talk, this scrub ’Madik’ barely had anything on him, although that didn’t stop her from stripping him nude to sell his armour. She also kept the dagger, which was also junk for her to sell.

As for money, between all of the cult mbers there was 40 Regil, mostly composed of change, giving them an even split of 20 each, plus the split between whatever she got for the loot. On the leader of the group, she also found a jar containing a few uncorrupted Sin-suckers. She did offer to give it to Lilith, so she could taste the delicacy of her people, but just looking at the wriggling leeches made the big, tough Hellion squird with disgust.

After that, the loving couple had to log off. Lilith’s parents were going to be taking them out to dinner, to celebrate their engagent. But Belladonna convinced them to stay on for a bit longer, so she could set them up a bank account and teach them how to log out properly.

It was only 10 minutes back to the city, so they didn’t take much convincing to agree. It also gave Belladonna a chance to ask Saige sothing important.

Sneaking up beside him, she leaned close and spoke softly as she broached the dangerous subject.

"Have you told Dad?"

Saige glanced at her out of the corner of his eye, before scoffing. His brow settled into a deep scowl that looked strange on such an adorable face.

"Why would I? You seriously think that asshole would care? He stopped caring about

when I stopped being able to make him money. And we both know that he doesn’t care about your-"

Saige’s words caught in his throat, the anger curling off of him as he clenched his fists. He took another glance towards Belladonna, noticing the concerned and slightly upset look on her face.

He sighed heavily, pointing his eyes forwards again, before continuing with a calr, more empty tone of voice.

"We both know he doesn’t care about either of us. But fine... If you want, I’ll tell him. I doubt he will give a shit anyways."

Belladonna gave him a sad smile and hugged him gently from behind, before moving away. Their father was the only family mber really in their lives and things were... complicated with him, especially when it ca to Jason.

For her there was only a distance. She knew that he pulled away once she started to develop her condition, and that it was mostly Jason that helped her out when it started to get serious.

But he wasn’t the only one who had grown distant, or gave her strange pitiful looks. Part of her didn’t mind the distance, because it ant that she got less pity and awkward conversations. All she was left with was the mories of the good tis, but for Jason it wasn’t the sa.

She didn’t know the full details of it all, just that it was incredibly ssy and things were always tense whenever they t briefly during the holidays.

At the front of the pack, Lilith glanced between the siblings. The strange cluster of emotions hanging over their head was palpable, but she had heard enough snippets of the conversation to know that it was best for her to stay out of it.

Instead, she started to recount the parts of their mini adventure that she enjoyed, all while flexing her muscles and making a show about it all. It wasn’t much, but it was enough to get a few smiles and chuckles.

So, by the ti they had made it back to the city, the miserable air had cleared and they were back to their old selves, more or less.

Finding the Inn of the city actually took longer than they had expected, so much so that Lilith was already starting to get nervous about being late, giving them absolutely no ti to go to the bank today.

Since it wasn’t important, Belladonna took them into the Inn, got them a room together and showed them the correct thod of logging out using the Brownies.

Then, she was left alone once again in the strange city, with a bag full of loot just waiting to be sold.
