Chapter 117: Trust

"A hunch? Man... You must really think I’m stupid, huh? I an what kind of braindead idiot is gonna see that kind of advanced knowledge and think ’Gee Willickers, This guy must be so smart to figure all this stuff out so soon. I really wanna be his friend so I can be just as smart as him!’" Belladonna’s voice overflowed with sarcasm, especially when she put on a very exaggerated performance of an old 1940’s style boy. She even did a little voice for it, before her expression turned completely dead and serious as she glared at Revenant.

The man in question simply chuckled dryly again, shrugging slightly as he said,

"Hey... You’d be surprised how many people just go along with it."

"Yeah well, I’m not one of them. You clearly know stuff. So what is it? Daddy’s one of the developers and he gave you all the cheats or sothing?

Even Data miners shouldn’t know this much this early on, and that’s not even covering your magic. Even the best cleric I know can only do a few spells with innate casting, but you do it all. I haven’t heard you utter a single word."

Revenant clicked his tongue again in annoyance, his face falling as he ntally chastised himself for his actions.

"I’m psychic, how about that? You believe that?" He said with a hint more irritation

"That’s even worse than the hunch line." Belladonna spat back, "Tell the truth, because you know for a fact your minion there can’t last against . Especially not after that beating he got."

"Yeah well... I don’t really owe you an explanation, do I? Hunch or Psychic, those are your two options. Don’t like them, tough shit.

Who knows? Maybe I’m just a well researched and educated beta tester. Maybe if you spent less ti flirting with your pretty boy prince of a boyfriend at the test yourself and actually did so real work, you would know as much too. Really is it my fault that I was more active than yo-"

His smarmy, condescending words were cut off by Belladonna’s hand clamping around his throat and lifting him off of his feet. Even weakened after her transformation, she had enough energy to do this even if it was purely from adrenaline.

Her face was twisted into an expression of pure rage, her mouth curled in a vicious snarl that exposed her mouthful of razer sharp teeth ready to rip his throat out.

"You know ? How the hell do you know ?! Are you the creep that’s following ? Answer ! Who the hell are you!?" She shouted, tightening her grip on his throat, turning his choked breathing to wheezing gasps. Even if he wanted to answer, he couldn’t. Even still, the crimson of her eyes glowed with a soft light as her power leaked into them, spurred on by her rage.

Beside her, the now loyal Black Knight rose to his feet and moved to attack, but Revenant held out his hand and stopped the knight in its movents. The Undead tilted its head in confusion, questioning the clearly idiotic order, before bowing its head and backing away.

Belladonna glared at the undead as it moved away, then turned her death glare back to the man in her grasp as she loosened her grip enough so he could breath.

He imdiately sucked in air, gasping and coughing his legs dangled in the air.

"I’m soone... that you will... need to trust." He spoke in a strained wheezing voice.

Belladonna barked out an incredulous laugh, tossing him to the side like the worthless trash he was. Her hand trembled from the mixture of adrenaline and muscle fatigue, but she clenched her fist tight to stop it and whipped around to face the trash again.

"Why the actual fuck would I trust you? You know what... I don’t care. Do what you want, forget about the stupid deal. I don’t care. But if I see you around

again, if I catch you following , I’ll fucking kill you.

And I don’t an in the ga. Got that?"

Revenant rubbed his throat, coughing heavily as he sucked in the air, before looking up at her with that sa creepy smirk. Belladonna’s hands trembled again, as even more rage filled her body, but she was too weak to actually do anything about it. That was the worst part, and the story of her life so long.

She wanted to just lunge at this man, tear out his throat and bath in his blood, then do the sa in real life. She hated the feeling of weakness. The pathetic feeling of being utterly useless and helpless, stuck in that god damned chair.

A feeling this creep had only made ten tis worse by following her.

Belladonna imdiately turned on her heels, striding away without another word. She didn’t care about the loot she left behind, or the potions she was supposed to get. She didn’t need anything from that man, and she would rather gouge out her own eyes than have to see that smirk again as she asked him for sothing.

"You’ll understand soon!" He shouted after her, causing her shoulders and arms to tremble with all the rage that was trying to get out but had no where to go.

"In a weeks ti the headaches will start! When you finally understand what they an, then you’ll co to

for answers! I’ll bring you your potions then!"

As Belladonna stord off, her bloodlust and rage curling off of her body, a notification appeared before her eyes. A friend request, one that she imdiately rejected before even looking at it for so much as a second, and simply sped up her steps, cursing herself for not killing that man when she had the strength and being so stupid as to think about trusting him.

Even if that had been a sowhat rational idea at the ti, that didn’t matter anymore.

She left the road, charging through the woods until she ca upon a particularly thick tree with a twisted knot that sowhat resembled a face. The tree knot warped in her mind, appearing as that creeps smug smirk as she slamd her fist into it. Over and over she punched it. Even when the tree cracked and blood stained her torn knuckles, she kept punching.
