Chapter 160: et the King of Acheron

Alec and Lauren’s carriage stopped at the back of Acheron’s castle. Lauren noticed there were no guards around which she found unusual. When she saw who was standing near the tall pillar of the castle’s back doors, she imdiately understood what was happening.

"King Alec and Queen Lauren. This is an unexpected visit," said Prince Dimitri but Lauren knew he must be aware that they were coming. He would not be here waiting for them otherwise.

Vincent had a dark yet playful personality. Prince Dimitri, on the other hand, was like another version of Alec only that his features were softer. He was a young man, probably around Alec’s age. There was no hostility in his eyes like Alec often had, but there was no friendliness either. Although Lauren was familiar with Dimitri’s face, she never had an opportunity to exchange a single word with him. Her father loved leaving her in the shadows while giving all the spotlight to his other daughters.

"It is a pleasure to et you, Prince Dimitri," Lauren offered a polite smile. She felt Alec’s hand rest on the small of her back.

"You may drop the honorifics and address

by my na, Queen Lauren. Your husband is a friend of mine."

"A friend?" Lauren looked at Alec who didn’t say anything. She expected him to refute the ’friend’ thing but he just shot Dimitri a sharp look.

"Yes. Why, did he not tell you about ?" Dimitri smiled. "I won’t be surprised if he did not. He doesn’t call anyone a friend but that’s what he is to . Anyway, let us continue our talk inside. I have sent the guards away but unexpected guests might be snooping around."

Dimitri led the way. The hallways they walked into were empty and they never ran across a single servant. Lauren took note of the unusual paintings hung on the walls and couldn’t help but ask Dimitri about them. He said his family’s hobby was painting and most of it was his mother’s and sisters’ works.

"So you also paint?"

"Sotis, if I have ti... but my works are stored in my room," Dimitri chuckled a bit.

"I find these pieces very artistic. I am sure your works are beautiful as well."

"We did not co here to chat with him, Lauren," Alec suddenly interrupted which made Dimitri chuckle.

"Please excuse him, Lauren. Alec was born a grumpy man. He cannot stand small talks like this. He finds it irrelevant and a waste of ti."

"I do agree that he is a grumpy man."

Alec eyed Lauren darkly.

"Don’t look at

like it is not true," she whispered.

"You just t him. No need to be so friendly."

Dimitri who heard what the couple was whispering about said, "What is wrong with being friendly? You are too possessive, Alec. Let your wife have as friends as many as she wants."

They soon arrived at the east wing of the castle. In the study room awaited King Sebastian, standing tall and brooding by the window with a book in his hands. The three had entered the room and when they got near, it was only then King Sebastian raised his head to acknowledge their presence.

"Father, we have important guests," said Dimitri.

Lauren held her breath for a mont when King Sebastian’s gaze fell on her. His dark eyes were serious and carried a weight of valor. He stood as tall as the other n present in the room and had the sa muscular body too. He was probably a few decades older than the two, but she didn’t expect him to look so fine... was it because he was a powerful mage, thus, he aged much slower?

"Your wife has a good eye, Alec. She is astounded by my great looks," King Sebastian spoke all of a sudden which made Lauren’s eyes widen.

"Do you read minds, Your Majesty?"

King Sebastian’s low chuckle resonated in the room. Dimitri only smiled, wasn’t surprised that another woman was dazed by his father’s mighty looks. anwhile, Alec’s face remained grim.

"I wish I can," King Sebastian put down the book on the table without closing it and gestured to the couple to sit on the sofa. He sat across from them. At the center was a small table with a kettle and a few teacups. He was generous enough to pour the teacups for them which stunned Lauren.

"Thank you, Your Majesty," she was a little embarrassed that she had King Sebastian served her tea. She was a queen but he was still an elder.

Dimitri left the room shortly. He said he had things to do and also wanted to give them privacy since it was King Sebastian they ca for and not him.

"I was told before that Evardin’s first and second princesses were the most beautiful in their land, but now that I’ve seen you, I must say I don’t agree with it. You look more beautiful, Lauren," said King Sebastian which rendered Lauren speechless.

"King Sebastian," Alec’s tone held a warning.

Sebastian smiled at Alec, "Have I done anything? I know all lands must be aware of how I am searching for a wife prospect but I am not desperate, Alec. I am rely stating facts. I have no ill intentions, especially not sothing like you think."

Now it was ntioned, Lauren realized that King Sebastian had been a widow for more than a decade now. She also heard he had been trying to find soone to fill the queen’s position for years but still hasn’t found the perfect bride-to-be. With his position and looks, there was no doubt the man could afford a much younger wife. In human age, he seed to be around his thirties.

"Alec," Lauren put her palm on Alec’s thigh and gave him a look telling him to behave. They were here to ask King Sebastian about Anthony’s whereabouts, but Alec was too hostile.

Alec’s eyes narrowed darkly at Lauren’s hand on his thigh. He then sighed and brought his gaze to Sebastian.

"Pardon us for the sudden visit," he was a little tad now. "An urgent matter requires us to et Anthony, but unfortunately he is nowhere to be found. I’m sure you know where he is."
