Chapter 78: Chapter 78: Xia Hanshi Pays a Visit

’I can’t let this drag on for too long. Every day of delay introduces new variables. Who knows how powerful that thing is? I have to inform the higher-ups as soon as possible.’

While Su Chen was mulling this over, he had already walked into the Gravity Chamber. He chugged two mouthfuls of a Potion and took his stance. Currents of wind began to surge around his body, flowing through his every limb.

His muscles twitched, and waves of intense pain washed over him, like a dull knife carving through flesh.

Su Chen was long used to it, but today, he hadn’t been training for long when his movents ca to a sudden halt and his eyes snapped open.

Within his ntal Perception, two individuals with fairly impressive life auras had entered his ten-ter range.

’One on the left, one on the right, sneaking around... But they’re just Tier Two Professionals, not Zhou Xian.’ Su Chen relaxed his stance and quickly pulled out a vial of Nutritional Potion, popping it into his mouth.

Since arriving here, he had never once trained to the point of utter exhaustion. His extre vigilance was proving crucial today.

’Zhang Hengyu just left...’ A cold glint flashed through Su Chen’s eyes. Silently, Cyan Scale Armor materialized in his hand and began to spread across his entire body.

At the sa ti, he activated his Wristband and sent a ssage to Old Sun.

’Hm? They’ve stopped?’ Su Chen held his breath and focused. In his ntal Perception, the two had halted in the corridor outside the room.

His gaze shifted to the smooth wall of the Gravity Chamber. They were right outside.

’They even know the location of the Gravity Chamber. They’re well-prepared.’ Su Chen stood in the corner, the Cyan Rope appearing silently in his hand.

...

’Is the security this bad?’

Sowhere outside the Supervision Branch, Zhou Xian hid in the shadows. His n had been inside for a while now, but the entire Supervision Branch remained quiet.

He couldn’t help but frown. ’Could it be? Did I overestimate Zhang Hongbo? At a ti like this, he’s still thinking about taking out Su Chen first?’

’If that’s the case, things will be easy. The guy only just beca a Gale Hunter. I won’t even have to act myself; two against one should be more than enough.’

’But...’ Zhou Xian’s expression flickered with uncertainty. ’Su Chen managed to walk away from the accusation completely unscathed. Could it be that he wasn’t the one who attacked

that night?’

That guy had too many secrets. If they could capture him, many things would be explained.

...

"This should be the spot."

In the corridor, two of the Deceitful God’s Followers moved slowly, estimating the position on the wall. Their bodies were shrouded by Shadow-avoiding Robes.

"Once we make our move, it’ll be hard to stay hidden. We have to make it a one-hit kill," one of them whispered.

"Right," the other agreed. "I’ll break the wall, you go for the kill."

"According to our intel, he should be in the middle of training. His body will be exhausted. He’ll never be able to react to a sudden attack."

As they conferred, the Deceitful God’s Follower tasked with breaking the wall took a deep breath. His muscles bulged and took on an eerie blood-red hue, the swollen muscle fibers knotting into blue-black veins beneath his skin.

His fist, now several tis its normal size, rose high like a great mallet. He drew it back to his waist, then shot it forward like a cannonball. The mont it struck the wall, a deafening roar erupted.

BOOM!

The concrete surface cracked, revealing the twisted steel rebar within. The other Follower imdiately charged inside at incredible speed.

But after breaking into the Gravity Chamber, his vicious glare was replaced by sheer astonishnt. Amidst the thin dust and smoke, the room was completely empty. There was no one there.

’Where is he...?’

The question had barely ford in his mind when a chill shot through his heart. A piercing gust of wind, accompanied by a sharp whistle, ca from behind his head.

In his peripheral vision, he caught only the afterimage of a whip, like a cyan serpent, as a violent gale swirled up the surrounding dust.

A clap of thunder exploded!

And along with it, his head exploded!

...

"Eld... Elder Xia, are you sure we shouldn’t go in and check?"

In a building near the Supervision Branch, several precision instrunts were set up. The large central screen displayed an infrared view.

Xia Hanshi looked up at it. The red glow emanating from one of the figures was so intense it almost seed to burst from the screen.

The man in charge of security, however, was like a trembling quail, cold sweat beading on his forehead as he asked the question cautiously.

He was Lu Sheng, the man responsible for Su Chen’s safety, the protector for this "fishing plan," and the Deputy Chief of the Exploration Departnt.

A few minutes ago, their equipnt had already detected two abnormal signals infiltrating the Branch. Based on their analysis, the intruders were likely using Shadow-avoiding Robes to conceal their bodies.

He had been about to send in support but was stopped by Xia Hanshi, who had arrived unexpectedly.

"This equipnt detects targets via heat signatures. But if soone conceals their own heat source, they can evade it. Is this all Southwind has?" Xia Hanshi asked with a glance.

Lu Sheng carefully explained, "It might seem that way, but after modifications by the Research Departnt, it can also capture faint Spiritual Power signals. That’s classified information. With both systems combined, it’s very difficult for anyone to sneak in undetected."

"So they can even mask their own spiritual presence?" Xia Hanshi murmured. "In that case, did you notice Su Chen disappear?"

"The Gravity Chamber is made of special materials; our equipnt can’t penetrate it..." he explained. "Su Chen spends almost all day in there."

"...A heat source just vanished! There’s only one left!" the subordinate monitoring the screen exclaid. Lu Sheng’s expression changed slightly.

"How fast... And he only just beca a Tier Two Professional not long ago," Xia Hanshi said faintly.

...

"Liu Cheng... ti for shift change. You can go ho and get so sleep."

In the Branch lobby, an Inspector Guard arriving for his shift held a cup of coffee and yawned as he spoke to the short-haired woman, whose eyes were heavy with sleep.

"Brother Zhang, thanks for taking over." Liu Cheng was already exhausted, but his words perked her up a bit.

Before she could even get out of her seat, a loud BOOM echoed from overhead!

It was like a clap of thunder, instantly startling the Inspector Guards in the lobby.

"Wh-what’s going on!?"

"It sounds like it ca from upstairs!"

"..."

Everyone panicked for a mont but quickly ca to their senses. So swiftly found cover, while others were already activating their communication terminals.

BOOM!

Another muffled thud followed, then a loud CRASH. Before everyone’s stunned eyes, cracks spiderwebbed across the ceiling. The thud of falling concrete slabs mixed with the mournful groaning of twisting rebar.

The wiring buried within erupted in a SHOWER of crackling sparks.

A figure fell through, kicking up a cloud of dust and smoke.

Everyone jumped, swallowing hard. Liu Cheng cautiously looked up. Through the gaping hole in the ceiling, she could see a figure standing at the edge, his upper body covered in Cyan Scale Armor.

The scales refracted cold glints of light, and faint blue arcs of Energy seeped from the gaps between each scale, slithering along his muscle lines like living creatures.

He held a long whip wreathed in arcs of cyan lightning and was looking down at them, his eyes glinting with the sa cyan electrical arcs.

"Sec... Section Chief Su?" Liu Cheng stamred in astonishnt.

"Sorry to have disturbed you all." Su Chen retracted his nacing aura, a gentle smile appearing on his face. "Soone tried to assassinate . I lost control of my strength for a mont."

"It-it’s fine, no problem..." Liu Cheng said hurriedly. This powerful scion was as elusive as a divine dragon, a rare sight she’d only run into once or twice in the cafeteria. He had always seed so gentle.

She never expected he had a side like the one she had just witnessed.

"Just follow standard procedure," Su Chen said with a nod before turning to leave. "Soone should be here to take over shortly."

Only after Su Chen had disappeared did the others finally react. They gathered around to look at the corpse on the floor. It was lying facedown, a massive wound on its back that had split the spine open. The edges of the gash were charred black, with no blood seeping out.

"Holy cow, that’s intense..." soone nearby muttered, swallowing dryly.

"Holy shit, this is huge. He’s the Minister’s student. Who would dare try to assassinate him?"
