Chapter 95: Chapter Ninety Five

Suzy entered Ryan’s room, her heart pounding in her chest. She had been here before, but the mory of that night was still fresh in her mind.

The room was the sa as she rembered it, carefully organized and impeccably clean. It was a stark contrast to her own room, which was always a cluttered ss until the maids co to clean it.

She rembered Ryan sitting at the armchair at the far end beside the bookshelf with four bottles of alcoholic wine beside him thinking about his ex, Eleanor. That was the first ti she saw him indulge in sothing like that. She shook her head dispersing the mory from her head as her hand traced the wooden part of the bed.

She sat down on the bed, the soft cushions enveloping her. It was a far cry from the mattress she had slept on at the count residence and slightly softer than hers.

The pain in her body had subsided, thanks to the ointnt and tea that Doris had given her. She was starting to feel better, both physically and ntally. She couldn’t help but wonder if it was because Ryan had touched the bruise, causing it to beco inflad again.

Just then, Doris entered the room, carrying a tray of food. "Here you are, Milady," she said, placing the tray of bread, a jar of fruit jam and a cup of steaming hot tea on a small table beside the bed.

Suzy smiled gratefully. She was starving, and the food looked delicious. She took a bite of the bread, the warm, buttery flavor a welco comfort. She took another piece and spread it with jam.

Suzy let out a low groan. "Thank you," she replied, taking a sip of the hot tea. The food tasted delicious, and it helped to fill her empty stomach.

Doris interrupted Suzy’s al, her voice filled with concern. "What punishnt did His Grace give you?" she asked, her eyes wide with worry.

Suzy smiled, her mood lifted by the delicious food and the comforting presence of her loyal servant. "He told

to sleep in his room," she replied, her voice light.

Doris let out a sigh of relief. "Thank goodness," she said. "I thought he might have given you a harsher punishnt."

Suzy raised an eyebrow. "Why did you think so?" she asked, curious.

Doris hesitated, her eyes filled with fear. "When His Grace ca to take you ho and you weren’t around, I saw the rage in his eyes," she confessed. "It was a different kind of rage, darker and more intense. I thought he was going to have

executed."

Suzy’s heart ached for Doris. She had been so worried, so afraid.

"I’m sorry for dragging you into this," Suzy said, her voice filled with remorse.

Doris shook her head. "It’s my duty to serve you, Milady," she replied, her voice filled with loyalty.

Suzy smiled, touched by Doris’s devotion. She knew that she could always count on her, no matter what.

She finished her al, her stomach feeling full and satisfied. She glanced at the clock, realizing it was really late.

"You should go to bed, Doris," she said, her voice soft. "You must be tired."

Doris nodded, her eyes heavy with sleep. "Good night, Milady," she murmured, closing the door behind her.

Alone in the room, Suzy continued to ponder over the events of the day. She couldn’t shake the feeling of unease that had been gnawing at her. Sothing was amiss, sothing that she couldn’t quite put her finger on.

Her thoughts drifted to Ryan. He had been so kind and caring, so protective. She felt a strange sense of warmth towards him, a feeling that she despises whenever it cos up. It was an annoying and unsettling sensation.

She tried to focus on sothing else, to distract herself from the thoughts racing through her mind. She picked up a book, hoping to lose herself in its pages. But her mind kept wandering back to Ryan.

She closed the book, her frustration growing. Why couldn’t she stop thinking about him? She could rember his brown eyes boring into her soul and how those lips parted when he said " how do you want to be punished?" She dropped the book and went to the bed.

She moved towards the bed, her steps heavy with urgency. She divided the space with the pillows, creating a comfortable cocoon. As she burrowed herself into the covers, she couldn’t help but think about Ryan.

"There’s no way I’m falling in love with him," she muttered to herself, trying to convince herself otherwise. She had always been a strong, independent woman, accustod to taking care of herself. The idea of being vulnerable, of letting soone else into her heart, was terrifying. She had been hurt in the past, and she was afraid of being hurt again.

She closed her eyes, trying to focus on sothing else, anything to distract her mind from the thoughts racing through her head. She had never t anyone like him before. He was a man of contradictions. A pompous, stoic, self important man who just wants to have everything and everyone in his control or so she thought.

But She had spent so much ti around him as well witnessing his strength, his compassion, and his unwavering loyalty. It was impossible not to be drawn to him, not to admire him. But she wasn’t interested in having feelings from him or being with him. She tried to convince herself that what ever her brain is telling her is that truth.

But deep down, she knew the truth. Her heart was starting to soften towards him, and she was afraid of what it ant.

The Duchess is back ho," a voice reported, breaking the silence in the dimly lit room.

"Interesting," the master replied, his voice laced with a hint of amusent. "And how is she?"

"She’s fine, but she was assaulted at the Count’s manor," the voice answered, a note of concern in their tone.

"Anything else?" the master inquired, his interest piqued.

"She’s looking for her mother," the voice replied.

"Has the Duke found out about her assault?" the master asked, his voice filled with anticipation.

"Not yet, but he’s about to," the voice replied.

"Who’s next on the list?" the master asked, his voice laced with anticipation.

"Count Edmund, her father," the voice answered.

The master let out a low chuckle. "Count Edmund, the Duchess, her mother, and the Duke," he mused. "Let the gas begin."

He leaned back in his chair, a sinister smile playing on his lips. He had been waiting for this mont for a long ti, and now, it was finally here. The stage was set, the players were in place. It was ti to watch the chaos unfold.

The master turned to his servant. "Keep

inford of every developnt," he ordered. "I want to know everything that happens. If she rembers anything notify

imdiately."

The servant nodded, his eyes filled with a mixture of fear and admiration. " certainly My lord." He replied as he turned to leave the room.

The master watched as the servant left the room, a satisfied smirk playing on his lips. He had everything under control. The future was his for the taking.

"Count Edmund, it’s your turn to pay for your own sins for what your actions cost

twenty years ago. It ti to join your accomplices in hell." He smirk as he walked to the cabinet opposite him revealing lots of poisonous substances and weapons.
