Chapter 105: Chapter Hundred And Five
As they dismounted their horses, Suzy looked around, taking in the sights and sounds of the orphanage. It was a beautiful place, surrounded by lush greenery and a babbling brook.
"This was my mother’s life’s work," Ryan said, his voice filled with pride. "She cared for the ostracized children, the holess children, and the parentless children. This is a sanctuary for them."
Suzy’s eyes filled with awe. She could see the love and compassion that Ryan had for these children. She knew that his mother must have been a truly remarkable woman.
"She must have been an amazing person," Suzy said, her voice filled with emotion.
Ryan nodded, his eyes filled with a mixture of sadness and pride. "She was," he replied. "She was the most selfless person I knew."
After a mont of silence, Ryan took Suzy’s hand and led her towards the entrance. As they approached, they could hear the laughter and chatter of children playing in the courtyard.
Suzy’s heart lted. She could hear how their laughter were filled with happiness and it gladden her heart.
As they entered the orphanage, they were greeted by a warm and welcoming atmosphere. The children ran up to them, their faces filled with excitent.
"His Grace has arrived, His Grace has arrived" The eldest ones shouted as they all ran.
She knelt down, her eyes eting the children’s. "Hello," she said, her voice soft and gentle. "How are you, little ones?"
The children giggled and babbled, their eyes sparkling with curiosity.
A little child with a limp leg approached Ryan, his eyes filled with wonder. "Your Grace," he said, his voice filled with excitent. "Is she our new mother?"
Ryan hesitated, his heart pounding in his chest. He hadn’t told Suzy about his plans, and he wasn’t sure how she would react.
Before he could answer, Suzy scooped up the child, her arms wrapping around him protectively. "Of course, my love," she said, her voice filled with warmth.
The children erupted into cheers, their laughter filling the air. Ryan couldn’t help but smile. He had made the right decision.
Suzy knelt down, her eyes level with another child. "What’s your na?" she asked, her voice soft and gentle.
"Oliver," the child replied, his eyes sparkling with excitent.
Suzy smiled. "It’s nice to et you, Oliver," she said. "I’m Cassandra but you can call
mother or your grace or duchess. Whatever you call
I will answer."
Oliver giggled, his face beaming with joy. He reached out and touched Suzy’s face, his fingers tracing the lines of her cheeks. "You are pretty," he said bashfully.
Another child, this ti a girl, complented her dress. "Your dress is so pretty!" she exclaid.
Another child complinted her hair. "Your hair is so curly, long and shiny!" he said, his eyes wide with admiration.
Another child complinted her freckles. "The dots on your face are like tiny stars," she said, her voice filled with wonder.
Another child complinted her dimples. "Your dots on your cheeks are so cute!" he said, giggling. " I want one."
Suzy was overwheld by all the complints. She tried to answer each child’s question, but it was difficult to keep up.
"Thank you," she said, her voice filled with emotion. "You are all so sweet."
Ryan approached the orphanage keeper, his eyes filled with concern. "Have any new children arrived recently?" he asked.
The orphanage keeper nodded, her eyes filled with sadness. "More abused children are coming in than orphans," she replied.
Ryan’s heart ached. He knew how difficult it must be for these children.
"Is there anything you need?" he asked, his voice filled with compassion.
The orphanage keeper shook her head. "Everything has been provided for," she replied, her voice filled with gratitude. " Thank you, your Grace."
Just as she was about to leave, she turned back to Ryan. "They love her," she said, her eyes filled with admiration. "The children. They really love her."
He watched as Suzy interacted with the children, her patience and kindness evident in every gesture. He saw the way the children looked up to her, their eyes filled with adoration.
The children related to Suzy like they had known her for years. They laughed with her, they played with her, and they confided in her. They saw her as a mother figure, soone who would always be there for them.
It was ti to go ho, and Ryan helped Suzy onto his horse. He then mounted the horse, and they began the journey back to the castle.
As they rode, Suzy held onto Ryan’s waist tightly, her body pressed against his. her fear of falling montarily forgotten.
Ryan noticed her grip and smiled. "Are you okay?" he asked, his voice filled with concern.
Suzy nodded, her face flushed with excitent. "I’m fine," she replied, her voice filled with joy.
" Why did you bring
here?" She asked still holding him tightly.
" I wanted to show you that I’m not a bad person and I won’t hurt anyone intentionally." He replied as the wind carried his words to her ears.
As they continued their journey, Ryan asked a question that had been weighing on his mind. "Am I forgiven?" he asked, his voice filled with hope.
Suzy hesitated, her eyes filled with a mixture of sadness and forgiveness. "Yes," she replied, her voice barely a whisper. "But only because Isabella isn’t angry with you."
Ryan smiled, his heart filled with relief.
As they approached the manor, Suzy couldn’t help but feel a sense of excitent. She was finally going to eat so real food, not that dried bread she had bought at the shop near Mada Helena’s.
As they dismounted from the horse, Suzy turned to Ryan. "Thank you," she said, her voice filled with a slight nonchalance. "Thank you for bringing
ho."
Ryan smiled, his eyes filled with a mixture of relief and hope. "No thank you," he replied.
"For what?" Suzy asked, her eyebrows raised.
"For forgiving ," Ryan said, his voice filled with sincerity.
Suzy looked at him, her eyes filled with a mixture of confusion and uncertainty. She wasn’t sure how to respond. She wasn’t even thinking about all that. She had just been so focused on getting back ho and eating a proper al.
"What?" she asked again, her voice filled with surprise.
Ryan smiled, his eyes filled with hope. "Thank you for forgiving ," he repeated.
"I am go to my room," she finally said, her voice barely a whisper. " I am exhausted."
Ryan nodded, his heart sinking. " Will you co down for dinner?" He asked.
" Of course I will." She answered, dragging her feet as she entered the castle. " I’m starving."
As he watched her leave, he knew that he had a lot of work to do if he wanted to win her heart. He turned to the stable boy and asked him to take care of the horses. Then he went inside, a smile plastering his face. At least she’s joining him for dinner.
