King Larvis's grandson held Isaiah's only leg by the ankle and dragged him across the ground without rcy.
Isaiah himself was now unconscious, having been knocked out before being brought here to this place.
Katari's eyes followed his unconscious figure. Isaiah now had just one leg and one hand, having been trapped in his humanoid form.
Katari tilted her head, taking note of how Isaiah seed…normal. It was as if his powers had been sealed and he looked less like a humanoid with little crane features and more like an actual human.
Alas, Katari had never seen a real human so she couldn't even register any interest in Isaiah's current state.
There was no pity in her eyes as she looked at Isaiah, she even felt that this was not enough. Surely, more suffering awaited him if he fell into her hands.
Isaiah was dragged into the pyramid and the pyramid did not try to eliminate him or push him out for not being a lion.
Kael was waiting for them.
After the whole crew stepped into the pyramid, Katari followed them in, after which the tal plates slid back to form an impenetrable wall.
Once again, Xu Ying found himself walking through the hallways and passing through the doorway halls. It was here that they had heard Aziza's voice and knew the sche they had stepped into.
Soon, they arrived at an elevator, one that they used to go straight to the activity level, and from there, they used another elevator to go to the command level. It was at the command level that they then used a separate elevator to begin ascending to the throne level.
As they journeyed their way to the throne level, Xu Ying took notice of how many things that wouldn't have been easy for him to access before had sohow beco closed and off-limits.
Even the elevators already had a predestined place to go and they were not to pick it by themselves.
Katari hovered close to them like a god's eye, watching everything get done.
Finally, the elevator finished its ascension to the throne level.
Before the doors slid open, all of them were already able to feel the presence of a powerful being lying in wait.
Adolf's heart raced and Alora's mind churned. Xu Ying took in a deep breath, calming his nerves and preparing himself for anything.
The doors slid open and what appeared before their eyes was the bulky figure of a blonde-haired man, wearing black clothes and sitting cross-legged on an oversized pillow cushion.
The man's hands were constantly dancing in the air in front of a golden screen. He seed to be in the middle of drawing sothing and was entirely focused on it.
Xu Ying observed the golden screen in front of Kael, his eyes narrowing. He had seen that sa golden screen before with a few lions occasionally through observations from his magic shuttle.
These screens were not like the holographic screens generated by his magic runes. These seed very different and operated on a power different from magic.
However, he had rely been observing those lions and never had the state of mind or luxury of studying them.
Now, seeing Kael with the sa golden screen in front of him, Xu Ying was able to guess that those lions with golden screens were related to Kael in so way or form.
Hearing the footsteps of the newly arrived guests, Kael waved his hand, causing the golden screen to disperse into a cloud of golden light particles.
'Hmm, should I make the lion system invisible? For the sake of privacy. Or make it internal, like a brain chip or sothing….'
Kael had previously wanted to say sothing but found himself sinking into thought again.
His brows were furrowed and he subconsciously ignored Xu Ying and the others.
Luckily, Katari was sensible, she could imdiately tell that Kael was thinking about sothing and was not trying to ignore them intentionally.
"Let him finish thinking, he'll address you shortly," Katari said. Xu Ying didn't know if he was imagining things but he felt that Katari's voice had gotten a bit deeper now that she was close to Kael.
Katari walked over to Kael and stood beside him with her arms held behind her back. She stared at the group with an indifferent gaze, subtly daring them to disturb Kael.
Naturally, none of them would do so, especially after Katari had given them that subtle warning.
Fortunately, before the silence got too awkward, Kael snapped out of his thoughts.
"Oh, forgive , my mind was a bit preoccupied," Kael said, putting on a harmless smile and placing his two hands on his knees.
He leaned his back and a section of the pillow throne rose to serve as a soft backrest.
"I can imagine," Xu Ying said, playing it cool like he wasn't disturbed.
He and Kael were clearly both tier 4 lions, yet he was sure that Kael would absolutely be able to kill him if a fight broke out. It was just a feeling that was based on the king's aura and Xu Ying wouldn't know unless he tried.
The mory of when he blasted Kael in the face with two magic projectiles was still fresh in his mind. That ti, Kael had moved, acting as though the attack was nothing but a breeze.
"Ah, yes, the duties of a king and all that," Kael said. Aziza's Heavenly Beacon slowly floated next to him, hovering between him and Katari.
The heaven beacon gained the attention of all the lions and lionesses, this was their ticket out of this world.
"So, let's get straight to the point," Kael started, bringing everyone to a state of solemnity.
"You want this, the heavenly beacon," Kael said gesturing towards the heavenly beacon, "I can give it to you, but I want sothing in return,"
Xu Ying listened to Kael's words and remained calm. Anyone with half a brain would have been able to tell that Kael wished to trade the heavenly beacon for sothing, why else would he bother having this eting with Xu Ying?
He could have just given the heavenly beacon to any of the other lions, but there wouldn't be much difference in doing that and taking a loss.
"What do you want in return? If it is within our power, I'll make sure to get it for you," Xu Ying said, speaking for the whole group.
"What if I asked you to kill one of your group mbers, would you still do it?" Kael suddenly asked with a mocking smile.
Xu Ying wanted to speak but paused. The lion youths all looked at him, waiting for him to answer.
They had already lost Wadolius, Chloe had changed sides, and Baba may never recover. Could Xu Ying bear shoulder more loss? What would he tell the lion kings when he got back?
Xu Ying sighed, "Everyone was briefed on the risk of the expedition before coming to the world. If it ans acquiring the heavenly beacon, then any one of us is worth sacrificing."
Xu Ying's words earned him the frowns of so lions but they mostly stayed quiet. Who among them did not guess that Xu Ying would be the one to inherit the heavenly beacon if he successfully got it?
Why else would he have put so much work into getting it? There was no way he would have been willing to co to this world if he didn't already know that the heavenly beacon would be for him.
"I see," Kael muttered, turning to Katari to judge her expression. Katari looked at Kael but didn't show any emotion whatsoever.
"Never mind, I wasn't going to ask you to kill anyone," Kael said, causing the lion youths to breathe a sigh of relief.
If Kael really asked Xu Ying to kill soone and Xu Ying actually went ahead with it, very few of them would be able to defend themselves. Xu Ying might be weak against Kael but he was far ahead of any tier 3 lions.
Alora's eyes glittered as she constantly switched her gaze from Xu Ying to the floating heavenly beacon. Katari, who had been patiently observing this white-haired beauty noticed the tense muscles and the dilated pupils.
Adolf on the other hand didn't know whether to be relaxed or anxious.
Kael had rely asked that question to gauge Xu Ying's willingness to sacrifice anything for the heavenly beacon. He knew that deep down, Xu Ying would avoid anything that would push him into killing any of the lion youths.
Even in heaven, he was known for being level-headed and less likely to start a conflict. Which was why Adolf and the others could be so free around him.
Most lions were not as 'easygoing' as Xu Ying.
"Anyways," Kael continued, "Did you bring Isaiah?" He asked.
It was only now that Katari's eyes lit up with a twisted sense of excitent.
Xu Ying nodded toward King Larvis's grandson who hurled Isaiah forward. Isaiah slid across the ground until he was in the center of the two parties. He remained unconscious.
"Good," Kael nodded, "But I also want sothing else, sothing from each of you…"
