Chapter 367: No Exit

In the shadows, Alistair who watched the scene wanted to rush forward, but he was instantly yanked back due to the chain around his neck. He couldn’t free himself from the clutches of the chain unless Marius did it himself—his soul was helplessly bound to Marius since he died in the lunatics hands, but watching the horrible scene unfold, he couldn’t just stay put and watch Marius hurt the people he cared about.

"HEY!! Let her go you fucking bastard!!" He spat, screaming at the top of his lungs in hopes that it would attract Marius’s unwavering attention, and to his relief, it successfully did.

The demon’s clawed hand seized mid-air, evidently startled by the unexpected voice, and he slowly turned his head to see Alistair standing at a corner, his neck bound to a thick chain, and that made Marius’s eyes flicker with amusent.

"I honestly forgot about you." Marius withdrew his hand, stopping the assault he inflicted on poor Viney, and he approached Alistair whose teeth gritted in rage.

"It completely slipped my mind," he chuckled surprisingly, "I think it must be the effect from this body, cause I can barely sustain my impatience, and suddenly you’re here. Unfortunately you are useless and tied, and what better ways to torture you than making you watch as I cut through her stomach and bring out the child nestled inside her womb."

"Don’t you dare lay your filthy hands on her, I’m warning you!!" Alistair threatened, stepping closer, "if you do anything to her I’ll—"

"You’ll what?!!" And he grabbed Alistair by the throat, slamming him to the wall, "what will you do? You have no power here, your soul belongs to

and I can do whatever I please with it! So what can you possibly do to save her?" he grinned, enjoying how easy it was to own him like a puppet.

"I always knew you’d be fun to have around."

"You think you’ve won, haven’t you?" Alistair stuttered a laugh, "you think because you own my soul I’ll be afraid of you. You’re terribly mistaken, cause you’re nothing but shit to !"

"A smart mouth you’ve got, why don’t we get rid of that first." Sothing sinister flashed in Marius’s eyes, and he pald Alistair’s lips. When he withdrew his hands, there was absolutely nothing there. The part where Alistair’s lips should have been were gone, as if it was erased, and all Alistair could do was glare with untold hatred, rage, and fear.

The sight paralyzed Carla who subconsciously felt her own lips. She didn’t think such a thing was possible, and a chill ran down her spine at the re thought of Marius doing it to her. She only agreed to this because she wanted to own Samantha’s body, she wanted to have the power that lady possessed, but there was this dreadful feeling gnawing at her consciousness, and that bothered her imnsely.

She thought they said dead souls were incapable of feeling emotions. Then why is she suddenly scared??

The sound of a door closing jolted her to the present. Not only her, even Marius was caught off-guard by the sound of the door closing, except, there was no one there. His eyes narrowed to the crib where he laid Samantha, and his face automatically paled when he found it empty.

She got away?

He looked at Alistair to see the satisfied expression on his face, and he instantly realized that the distraction was a set up.

"How did she get away? Weren’t you supposed to keep an eye on her crib??" He yelled at Carla who stood frozen from the anger in his voice, but before she could co up with an answer, he was already storming towards the door.

In the endless looking dim-lit hallway, Samantha was running as fast as her legs could carry her, desperate to find an exit. She sheltered Viney in her arms, tears flowing free from her eyes upon noticing the condition her Viney was placed in.

She was fortunate to have woken up at the right ti, and she used their conversation to her advantage to slip away without notice, but now, how to get out of here before Marius finds her?? She didn’t know where each route led to.

"Viney will be alright." She assured herself in a whisper, "I just have to find the exit, and... and I can get out of here! But... but where exactly is this place?"

"Samantha!!"

A tiny squeal escaped her lips when she heard Marius yell her na, and she imdiately hid behind a red curtain. With one hand securing Viney, the other pald her lips, whilst she struggled to stay as silent as possible. She didn’t dare breathe, not in this situation.

A minute passed by, and Samantha could hear Marius’s footsteps closing in on the exact spot where she hid. He stopped walking, making her freeze behind the curtain, and she closed her eyes.

"Samantha...," he purred, "I thought we were finally over this hide and seek ga of yours, but I guess we ended up finding ourselves tangled in your most favorite gas. You can’t get out of here unless I say so, and are you aware of where you are?"

Samantha could hear the sound of his boot as he continued to walk around, "you’re in the underworld, my most secured territory, and if you think your precious husband will show up to save you from here, then you are only deluding yourself, cause no one gets in without my orders."

His laughter after that was dark and sinister, it’s almost like he’s completely lost it. However, Samantha’s body felt like it had been dipped in ice water when she felt sothing crawl to her shoulder, and when she peeked from her peripheral view, it was a spider.

Samantha dared not move, even when panic rose against her. The sound of Marius’s footfalls began to close in on the curtains where she stayed hidden, but before he could open it and check, the sound of sothing falling from a distance stole his attention.

His footsteps receded, but Samantha waited till she could no longer hear them. However, soone else flipped open the curtains, and in front of her was the sight of a man with no mouth.

She stifled her scream when the unknown person placed a finger to his non-existent lips, indicating she should stay quiet. But the more Samantha stared at the man who seed to have no ill-intention of bringing her to Marius, the more the familiarity of his visage dawned on her.

"Alistair??" She whispered in shock, but he simply shushed her and beckoned her to follow him, only when he said so. When the path beca clear, he led her in the opposite direction, away from Marius.

Samantha struggled to believe her eyes, her emotions were summing up, but why was he here? And what happened to his mouth?? Her head presently was spinning with many questions, but getting out of here was what mattered most.

They made it to a particular door, and Samantha carefully pulled it open. She imdiately went in with Alistair, closing the door behind her, but to her dismay, where he brought her wasn’t the exit. It was a completely different room.

She glanced questioningly at Alistair. She had so much to say, but asked the most important one of all.

"Where’s the exit?"

Alistair could not bring himself to respond, since that right had been taken from him. Instead, he gestured with his hands, and what Samantha translated it to be was;

’There is no exit.’

"How–what do you an?"

’It’s impossible to get out of here.’ he gestured again, ’I need you to listen, Ivan won’t be able to find you unless you find a way to tell him exactly where you are, and you have to hurry.’

"How am I supposed to tell him?" Samantha couldn’t help but whisper a bit loudly, "I can’t feel our connection! The chain between our worlds is broken and I can’t contact him."

’You can! You have to!’ Alistair persisted, ’don’t buy Marius’s crap! He’s getting to your head. Only Ivan can get you out of here, but he won’t be able to do that if he can’t locate you!"

"How can I contact him then?"

’Mind-link? Anything? You two should understand your bond better than anyone else, and you have to hurry, cause Marius will co for us, and he will find us."
