Chapter 164: Activating The Ancient Relic
The second guest room wasn’t far from where they had stopped to talk with Alain, but by the ti they made it to the room that was given to Cassian and Maddie, little Alain opened the door and stepped in first, while Samantha and her brother waited patiently outside. On the way here, Maurice had tried to get his sister to talk about why she had insisted on seeing Maurice’s parents; she had gotten him worried due to her frozen reaction earlier, but each ti he tried to get her to explain what happened, she always gave him the sa, "I’ll explain everything later" kind of answer– an answer he never fancied.
The door to the guest room had been left slightly ajar, and they could hear voices coming from inside.
When the door eventually opened to reveal Madeline, she ushered them in with a surprised, yet welcoming smile, but when Samantha stepped inside the room, her feets impulsively halted upon sighting Ivan who was busy communicating with the young man nad Cassian. She had chosen a wrong ti to pay this couple a visit, unaware that Ivan would be here as well, and when the two n who seed to be having an important conversation concerning a matter turned to look at who had entered, Samantha instinctively hid herself behind Maurice as if it would save her from being noticed by Ivan.
"Little Lamb?" Ivan tilted his head slightly as he had already seen the sneaky woman. Aware of the fact that she had been caught, Samantha no longer shielded herself from Ivan and stood beside her brother, her gaze montarily fixed on her toes as she dared not et his eyes. When she uttered nothing despite him calling her na, Ivan simply excused himself from Cassian’s side so he could stand in front of the woman he had told clearly to stay in bed and get so rest.
To his relief, the raspberry leaf tea must have worked fine since she no longer seed to be in terrible pain as before, and the floral scent was doing a great job masking the tempting scent of her blood. No wonder she dared to defy him and get out of bed, ignoring the fact that he specifically told her not to do so.
"What are you doing here?"
"I..." Samantha slowly lifted her doe eyes to look at his indifferent expression, and she subconsciously nibbled on her bottom lip. He had his arms crossed, eyes awaiting her explanation whilst she glanced at Maurice who averted his gaze elsewhere. She had co here to critically inform the parents not to let Alain wander around in the garden till they leave. They might question her reasoning behind it, she hardly understood what she had envisioned herself, but from what she still rembered, it would be better if she told them rather than ignore it completely...right?
"Actually I–"
"Can this be handled later?" Cassian stepped forward, his own manly voice disrupting Samantha as he handed the dallion to Ivan, an unsatisfactory look reflecting his features. "I’m afraid my wife can’t activate the dallion’s core. The energy from the dallion doesn’t correspond with that of my wife’s energy, I think we’re going to need the witch’s help again, if she’s willing to comply."
"I don’t seek help from an enemy." Ivan retorted before receiving the dallion from Cassian’s grip. "If we can’t activate the dallion ourselves, then contacting your families is also impossible at the mont." He admitted, and Madeline ca to stand beside Cassian as they exchanged worried glances, both completely unaware of what to do next as they have to accept the fact that they might not be able to reach anyone.
"Can I... can I see the dallion please?" Samantha requested from Ivan, and all eyes imdiately focused on her. "Am I allowed to try with my own energy? If... her energy doesn’t correspond then it wouldn’t hurt to try with mine."
"Can you activate the dallion?" Ivan asked Samantha who wasn’t even sure herself. But the intricate design of the dallion and the aura it possessed seed familiar to her, yet she wasn’t why. When her hands reached out to touch the dallion, almost taking it from Ivan’s grip, a sudden surge of energy jolted through her fingertips. Startled by the result as it appears her energy had been sensed, Samantha cautiously recoiled, her eyes widening in sheer surprise.
Then she heard it– a faint whisper, the sa faint voice echoing in her mind. "Take it." The soft voice suddenly urged as she was compelled to hold the dallion,
"Take the dallion."
"Did soone say sothing?" Samantha snapped at everyone in front of her, confusion mingling with her sudden unease as she darted gazes between everyone, studying them, but judging from everyone’s expression, no one seed to have heard anything except her.
"No one said anything?"
"Why? Did you hear soone say sothing?" Maurice questioned back, eyebrows knitting together as he analyzed his sister’s bewildernt, but as always, she schooled her expression.
"I don’t know I’ve been hearing voices but it must be my imagination." She imdiately added as she wouldn’t want to cause anyone anymore distress. "Let
see."
Struggling to keep her hands from trembling, Samantha grasped the dallion firmly, whilst she felt the cool tal beneath her fingertips. As she held onto the dallion, she felt nothing for so growing minutes, no changes, no earlier sparks, but before she could give it back to Ivan, a radiant glow suddenly emanated from its core. Samantha’s pupils dilated as she witnessed the dallion responding to her touch, whilst it pulsated with a raw energy that was similar to her own.
"Did she just..." Madeline blinked in disbelief as she looked away from the light. Almost everyone was prone to look away except Ivan who wanted to analyze the limits of his little lamb’s powers. Her grip on the pulsating dallion was still firm, but although he wished to marvel at the sight, he couldn’t as the words of the witch invaded his mind. If his little lamb possesses powers that were beyond explanation, then he would see to it that she is guarded morning and night.
In the midst of the glowing light, a familiar feminine voice erged from the dallion, resonating with warmth, but it held questions. The voice grew more audible as they listened to it, as if whoever owned the voice was slowly approaching the dallion in the other realm.
"Why is this relic...? Elian you need to see this!" They heard the questioning voice switch into one of awe.
"Aunty’s voice." Alain spoke up as he recognized the voice of Inna.
