Chapter 65: Chapter 15. Retribution is just around the corner

The farewell before leaving the northern region was held on a cool note.

Unwilling to linger in this "ugly" place for even a mont, the Crown Princess was determined to return to her residence as soon as possible.

If it were possible, she would have done so imdiately. But since Camille needed to rest after the incident, they had to stay in the ice castle for one more night.

And the next morning, as soon as the sun rose, they stood in front of the main gate of the castle. Kaena was waiting for her by the carriage, while Camilla was saying goodbye to her friend.

— Take care of yourself.

— You too.

Jeremy nodded at her, and they hesitantly hugged each other goodbye. However, he had to let the girl go as soon as possible, because a pair of golden piercing eyes was watching him closely. The baron’s son swallowed and smiled wryly at his friend.

— You know you can always co to

if you need help, — he reminded her in a whisper. The guy’s tone was quite serious.

— Yes, I know.

Camille gave him a mirthless smile in return.

"Although, I hope that the mont for this will never co..."

When the short farewell between them ca to an end, the duke’s daughter got into the carriage and the carriage started moving.

Camilla stared out the window, watching the ice castle that was gradually shrinking in her eyes. I wonder how soon she and Jeremy will be able to et again.

At least, she hoped that she would at least live to see this mont.

When they sat opposite each other, silence remained in the cabin for a long ti. The duke’s daughter suddenly felt that the Crown Princess found it difficult to look into her eyes for so reason. Although it was usually the other way around. And she soon found out the reason for that.

— I’m sorry... — Kaena de Ronan stamred guiltily and looked away: — If I had known that this could happen, I would never have left you there with that idiot.

Hearing sothing so unexpected, Camilla was surprised that the novel’s villainess was actually acting like this because of it.

— I... it’s okay! It was an accident, wasn’t it? — she protested.

— No, it’s all my fault, — Kaena replied firmly and suddenly squeezed her hand, — I promise that nothing like this will happen again.

When the Crown Princess stated this so decisively, Camilla had no choice but to smile at her and shake her head. Well, since her hand was trapped by the main villain again, it was all she could do.

The return trip was supposed to take a few more days.

While they were riding in the carriage, the duke’s daughter pretended to be fascinated by the view of the northern landscape outside the window, but in reality her thoughts were far away from here.

In fact, I couldn’t stop thinking about yesterday’s conversation with the second princess of this Empire.

Unexpectedly for myself, I agreed to take part in this sudden and undoubtedly dangerous adventure. And there was only one reason for that. The person who made this offer to

was none other than the main character of this novel. In other words, the girl who was the center of this world.

"You have nothing to fear as long as you stay close to the heroine. Isn’t this the key to the success of any hitman from the novel?"

Even if a sudden earthquake caused the earth to split in half, a fifty-ter radius around the main character is safe. It was for these reasons that I was guided when I finally said the cherished "yes" to Jerica de Ronan.

After all, who else in this world was capable of such a thing?

Only the main character can stand up to the main villain, and that was a well-known truth.

Despite everything, I still decided to take a chance to break the vicious circle I was involuntarily involved in and gain the long-awaited freedom. "What if this is really my last chance?" So I just couldn’t let it go.

Even if my plan "A" has failed, but plan "B" will certainly succeed.

So, our second backup rescue plan is called "Let’s team up with the main character against the main villain!"

Since we didn’t have much ti to discuss, Jerica de Ronan told

about her plan only in general terms. So, during this month, the Imperial Army troops will be intensively preparing for an attack on the Heilos residence. And when the ti is right, my role in this will be to make the villainess lose her guard.

Especially for this purpose, the second princess gave

a bottle of sleeping pills strong enough to make Kaena de Ronan unconscious for at least a few hours. However, this ti will be enough for the soldiers of the Imperial Army to occupy the castle and take the Crown Princess into custody.

"In other words, in a month... All of this is finally going to end."

The nightmare I’ve been living in lately, and which I’ve unwittingly ended up in because of my own stupidity, will be a thing of the past. There was still a chance to fix everything and return the original plot of this world to where it should have been.

The thought of the upcoming operation to overthrow the villainess sowed excitent and trepidation in my soul at the sa ti. After all, despite the fact that my task sounded quite simple, but it was also fraught with considerable risk. No one could guarantee in advance how everything would go. At least, I could only hope for the blessed aura of the main character and pray that everything would really work out.

At that mont, for the first ti in a long ti, I turned away from the window because my neck was numb, and I accidentally bumped into the Crown Princess. As usual, he was strange and made

feel uneasy.

"She must be thinking about so terrible things she’s going to do to

right now," I guessed, looking at her expression.

— What is it? — The villainess of the novel asked

with a smile when she noticed that I was looking at her.

— It’s simple... I’m glad we’ll be back soon, — I murmured.

— yes. There’s nowhere better than ho, — the villainess readily agreed with .

— That’s for sure. Especially considering that you’ve turned my house into a cetery, — I chuckled ironically in my heart.

Even though I didn’t feel any attachnt to this place as such, I couldn’t stop thinking about those people who had needlessly suffered because of . And how can I forget, if I dread about them almost every night.

Well, then.

"Retribution is just around the corner."

Pretending to smile at the villainess of the novel, I held an invisible knife behind my back, which I was about to plunge into her soon.
