Chapter 68: Can’t Bother Her

After a week spent in quiet anticipation. A flight on a Friday, right after work. All just so he could do a bit more work to cover up the real reason for his visit. Derek had expected to co back to the manor fully rested.

But he was not. In fact he was more tired than before he had left, all of the energy that he had wasted trashing the motel room attributing to said exhaustion. He had spent most of Saturday holed up in his personal living room. His excuse being the totally unimaginative " I am working," But it had worked and he had been left alone to wallow in peace.

But it was Sunday now, and Derek had known he had to do sothing to get over his funk.

He did not feel like swimming, which would have sapped him of the little energy that he still had. Which had led to him taking the exact opposite of a physically exhausting pasti.

Derek Haven, CEO of Haven Enterprises, was currently on his stomach getting a massage.

He did not call for Rose, his masseuse very often, but when he did, Rose really worked her magic.

The older woman was currently working on a particularly difficult area right around Derek’s shoulder blades. Her warm hands sure as she dug them into the knot until it all but lted away. Even after the knot was gone, she continued working the area for a little while longer. Once the flesh and muscle had lost the fight and decided to relax under Rose’s practiced hands, only then did she move on to the next area. The only ti she stopped, was to apply more oil to her hands, and then she got right back to work.

Were he anyone else, Derek was certain that he would be moaning and groaning obscenely. But he was just too tired for such. So he just lay where he was, a towel around his waist, and enjoyed himself.

His body getting a much needed treat, especially given how hectic things had been. He really had gone all out when destroying the motel room. With all the heavy lifting that he had done, tossing the bed, and taking the doors off their hinges, he was very lucky that he had not pulled sothing. Or worse, he could have dislocated sothing in his fit of rage.

Rose, moved her hands, to a spot right where his neck and shoulder t. She pressed down, firmly and Derek humd in satisfaction.

Yes... this was definitely what he had been needing, aside from sleep of course.

The longer Rose worked, the more Derek relaxed. And as he relaxed he began to think. In applying his father’s lesson on problem solving, he had not been completely honest with himself. That night, it had not just been the room, that had been different.

There had been sothing else too, a new factor, sothing that he had been actively ignoring. In fact it was not sothing, but soone. His personal assistant, Emily Molson.

At first, he had stayed in bed just so she could think that he had slept. His intent back then had been to leave as soon as she was in deep sleep. But that was not the way things had worked. He could still rember how soft and warm she had been. Her body just right. Fitting against his like they had been molded to fit around one another.

Derek had held Emily Molson in his arms, and with her there, fitting like she belonged there, he had fallen asleep. And not the shallow little naps that passed as sleep for him, and not the artificial thing that the sleeping pills gave him.

Sleep, honest-to-goodness sleep. Derek had slept for just over ten hours and he wanted more of that.

But as he lay on the massage table, Rose turning all of the stiff muscles in his back to putty, Derek knew he would likely never get to sleep with her again.

He could engineer a situation where they would sohow end up having to share a bed again. Maybe he could arrange for another out of town ergency that he just had to attend to personally. He could take her with him, slip the hotel staff so money under the table, and by the end of the night they would be sharing a bed once more . Or maybe he could order a building wide lockdown foe whatever reason. Then the two of them would be forced to sleep next to one another and he could determine once and for all if she was the reason that he was able to sleep. Perhaps, he could get them stuck in the elevator overnight, they could sohow cover the glass walls and sleep.

Rose ran her hands on either side of his spine, and Derek sighed, ntally tossing all of his ideas. Not only were they not likely to work, but they were on another level of creepy, and he was ashad to have even thought of them. They were the type of creepy that Derek associated with his uncle. He did not want to be that type person, no matter the circumstances.

Which left only one other option really. All that Derek had to do, was go into Haven Group headquarters on Monday, call Emily into his office, and as easy as anything say to her...

’Emily, last ti, when we slept together, I slept more soundly than I have in years. Let’s do it again, I have a penthouse that we can use, no creepy motels this ti,’ Derek huffed, shifting around a bit as Rose continued with her work.

If he said that to Emily, she would run out of the office screaming. And she would keep screaming until she reached the nearest police station. Rightfully so.

Derek would not even have to be arrested. He would just hand himself in voluntarily. If the case went to court, he would gladly pay millions in settlents too. She would deserve that and a whole lot more.

As Rose finished off his massage, Derek ca to his own conclusion too. He would not bother Emily with this. Instead he would try to find sothing else that he could do. He had no right to burden her with his problems, they were his and his alone.
