Chapter 344: Sa But Different

People who said that experience was one of the best teachers in the world really knew what they were talking about. There were many things that people could not fully appreciate , until they had been through them. But even though it was true. The fact that Jane had experience in losing a loved one to drowning, was not an experience that she would have liked to have. Let alone go through it a second ti.

The last ti that it had happened, Jane, a much younger and softer version of herself, had had no defenses whatsoever against the emotional storm that had co with her husband going from missing to then being found, and declared dead. All the while her daughter had also been missing, and had also been considered as deceased by the majority of the search party. Back then, Jane had waited for news to co to her.

A shock blanket around her shoulders, her entire fra numb. Her mind feeling as though it had been stuffed full of cotton wool. Now they were in the sa situation again. Sothing that Jane would not wish on even her most hated enemy.

But now things were different. The pain was still the sa as it had been back then. A relentless tide of negative emotions threatening to just sweep her away. But Jane was made of sterner stuff now.

There was a fire deep within her and it was being fanned by her love for her daughter. Sure Jane was terrified, anyone would be in that situation.

But this ti they were stronger. The two of them were out there with the rest of the search parties. Doing their best to bring back their children.

Thanks to Cassandra’s considerable influence in the world. There had already been a literal small town of people who had set up camp, and were searching by the ti that the two won had arrived.

And after receiving updates from the firefighters, the police, as well as the private companies. The two of them had thrown themselves into the search as well. And that was all that they had been doing for hours now. Judging from the strength of the waves, as well as how fast the wind was moving. A general search area had been determined and most of them were focusing around that. With Jane and Cassandra up in the air, a pilot taking them around in a Haven chopper.

Both of them having binoculars in hand, looking down at the waters below with eagle eyes. It had gotten to the point where Jane’s eyes were starting to hurt, and she was also very cold. But as far as she was concerned, those were minor inconveniences.

If she was cold and she was tired, then her daughter had to be in an even worse state. Derek had to be suffering too.

Unlike Jane and Cassandra, their children did not have the luxury of not worrying about drowning. They were out there, hurt, and cold. Jane had to do her best to find them before things got even worse.

When they had arrived, they had been briefed that it was a high possibility that Derek and Emily were already dead. Were it the first ti they were hearing such news. They would have shattered to a million pieces on the spot. But once again, experience had stepped in, and they had rolled with the punch that the words had carried. This might be a search and retrieve instead of a search and rescue.

The man in charge had said, but neither she nor Cassandra had taken his words to heart. Their children were still out there, and they were alive. They just needed to be found. Just like they had been found all of those years ago.

They searched and they searched. Eyes scanning the waters desperately until they could not anymore. But even as the helicopter took them back to land. The two of them were still looking down. Desperate to find sothing, anything, that would lead to their children being found alive and well.

Their return to land should have been a bit of a break. A chance for them to take a mont to rest their eyes, and force so food down their throats. All so that they could go back again and search before it got too dark. But instead it turned into an argunt the mont that they entered the tent.

"What are you doing here?" Cassie hissed, her tone aggressive.

Jane startled at first thinking, that the other woman was talking to her. But then she caught sight of the anomaly in the small area. They had a visitor. A man dressed in an expensive suit with shiny shoes, his outfit standing out. Every single person there was either in jeans and boots or they were wearing protective gear. The man shrugged, moving forward.

"I am here to help find my nephew, Cassandra. Do you know that I had to find out over the news that my own nephew was missing?" He said and it clicked into place who the man was...Sebastian Haven.

Twenty years before, Jane rembered him being ntioned in na only. She recalled how he had not even shown up, when his brother had died. Then it hit her that this was the leech that Emily had always been complaining about. The womanizer of an old man.

Sothing proven correct when even though he was talking to Cassandra. His eyes road over to Jane and instantly settled over her breasts. Not bothering to flick back up for a few long and uncomfortable seconds. Fists-balling, Jane snarled. She was in such a bad way that she was just looking for the man to ss up, and say sothing that would give her a chance to punch him and vent so of her rage and helplessness.

But it was not to be. After a brief but tense exchange with Cassandra. Sebastian Haven lifted his hands in mock surrender and made his way out of the tent.

"I was simply here to offer my support but since it is clear that you do not want

here. I will be heading back to the city,"

"But I will also be trying in my own way to assist with the search. You might not believe , Cassandra, but I do care. I really loved my nephew," He said. And Jane wanted to throw sothing at him. Why was he referring to his own nephew in the past tense?

There was no proof that they were either dead or alive. And she and Cassandra were choosing to believe that they were alive. She did not want anyone around who seed so keen to assu their deaths.

Cassandra was right in kicking him out.

Jane’s only regret was that they did not get a chance to kick him for real.
