Chapter 233: More Choices

Emily Molson’s guide on how to deal with life after making the monuntal mistake of kissing your boss. That would have been the title of her moir if she were ever to write one. And unlike all of the other imaginary books that Emily had written.

Especially when it ca to Derek, she was certain that were this one ever to reach publication. Then it would be flying off the shelves. Selling like candy on Halloween.

But unfortunately for Emily, she was not writing a book about that, let alone releasing it. Instead she was busy living the nightmare of going on with life. After setting her career on fire by kissing her boss and not just any boss. Maybe if she had kissed a manager or a director she would have been able to dust herself off. To find soplace else to work and keep moving.

But Emily, always an overachiever, had gone for the top dog. She had kissed none other than the CEO himself.

The well-connected, extrely powerful CEO.

Who was not just well known in the business world. But also ca from a family that had a lot of pull in all aspects of life. Old money going back several generations.

If Derek decided that she had gone too far, and wanted to bury her for this. Then there would be nothing that Emily could do other than stepping into her grave all by herself. And getting comfortable as he made sure that she never worked anywhere else again, let alone manage to have a conversation with anybody who wanted to be anyone in life. That was the type of ss that Emily had created in giving in to instinct, and just kissing Derek without a second thought.

But all was not lost. Emily still had options.

They might not have been great options but they were choices nonetheless. Since she had cut off the whole nun or farr thing, a few more choices had popped up. Number one, she could pack a bag, grab a passport and head overseas. Then once she got abroad she could change her na into sothing very different from Emily.

Maybe go by Marie or Chelsea, Ashley or even Tabitha.

Just any na that could not be traced back to Emily Molson so that she could make a living. But Emily ended up scrapping that idea. Going abroad and changing her na was a bit extre.

Besides, if she did that, then she would have to do other things as well, in an effort to hide her identity. Like maybe go under the knife to change her looks. She would also have to give up on seeing her mother ever again. Emily could not do that.

She had kissed a man, not committed murder. Option one was basically witness protection for sobody who knew too much. The only cri that she had done was one that led to her knowing the way Derek’s lips felt against her own. How soft they were.

That did not warrant such an extre asure. So maybe it was best if she went for option two.

Option two also involved leaving but unlike with the first choice Emily would be doing a type of leaving where everybody would know where she was. She could circle back to her nun choice. With a lot of practice she was sure she could cultivate the calmness needed. Where would be the best place for her to go to beco a nun? Would she be more welco in a temple or should she head to a church?

But again option two proved to be sothing that was not viable for her. After all, no matter which choice she took, the temple or the church. Both of them required that she be extrely religious, and Emily was not. That was an aspect of herself that was not changing any ti soon. Sure having faith was great, but she could not see herself living and breathing religion for the rest of her days.

So those two definitely would not be co in places for her.

If she tried to fake it, she was certain that within a matter of hours she would be found out, and given whatever punishnt was placed upon those who dared to fake belief. A punishnt that she would deserve for ssing with people’s beliefs for her own gain.

Looking at the first few options that had jumped out at her when she had been thinking of ways to redy the situation. Emily would admit that they were a bit on the extre side. In fact, they were a lot on the extre side. And to be honest, she had not really been considering them.

She had just taken comfort in knowing that the ideas out there. But from the very beginning Emily had known exactly what choice she would be making regarding the issue of the case and there was only one that made sense.

Emily was going to swallow her pride. Push away her fear, gather her courage, head right up to Derek Haven, and apologize.

In the middle of that kiss, Emily had felt it when Derek had gone from being shocked at her audacity to responding.

Their tongues moving against one another. But that still did not change things. It did not take away from the fact that she had kissed Derek without him giving his consent on the matter.

The first one had been a mistake. But the second ti that Emily had gone in for another kiss, that had been a choice on her part. So she had to apologise to Derek. It was either that or give up sleep altogether. Emily was not about to do that.

Derek Haven was literally her life.

Thanks to him she was able to sleep through the night four nights out of the week.

He was holding her together just by existing.

Not apologizing ant quitting Derek. Quitting Derek ant saying goodbye to sleep. Emily would not be doing that. She needed sleep and she needed it bad. So the next ti that the two of them were alone.

Emily vowed to herself that she would apologize. Throughout Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday, no chances for the two of them to be alone materialized and so Emily stayed quiet.

She did not say anything to Derek, and he did not say anything to her. Neither of them ntioning the kiss. Being nothing but absolutely professional to one another at the office.

In fact they were so aggressively professional with each other that Emily actually doubted in so monts whether the kiss had happened at all. Maybe she had been imagining it.

But still co Thursday evening, Emily pushed all her doubts aside and made her way to Derek’s penthouse.

Ready with an apology.
