Chapter 223: For OnceEditor: EndlessFantasy Translation
The power of the Level 60 Epic-level boss, Zangila, was rather ridiculous. When Li Yi and Lonely Semi City brought his HP down to half, his attack thods began to change.
Aside from the red and green poisons, he obtained another type of poison, black poison. Rather than splashing it at others, this one was ant for him to drink. Every ti he drank it, he would enter Berserk mode. This increased his ATK and SPD drastically, and this boost lasted 20 seconds each ti. He chased Li Yi and Lonely Semi City within an inch of their lives, piling on the pressure.
Lonely Semi City died 3 tis and Li Yi died once. Thank goodness the two of them were fighting together as if either of them were soloing it, the battle would have ended a long ti ago.
Every ti one of them died, he would corpse-run back while the survivor would desperately stall for ti, ensuring above all that he did not die as well. Only by repeating that, did they manage to weather past the Berserk mode.
The Violent Bear King had died countless tis, but they owed a lot to this powerful at shield of theirs. Without it, there was no way Li Yi and Lonely Semi City could have gotten this far, no matter how miraculous their control skills were.
"Co out, Zangila’s most loyal followers!"
When Zangila’s HP fell to about 1,000,000HP, his attack patterns changed once more. He splashed the green poison at the corpses around him, creating several hundred undead that attacked the duo.
"Hehe, Zangila won’t be attacked by my most loyal followers."
Unlike the situation before they entered the battle, this ti Zangila took out an Invisibility Potion and drank it after creating that horde of the undead. His body instantly vanished.
Before the players destroyed all of the undead, Zangila would not reappear. Of course, even though he was invisible, it did not an that the players could not hit him. If they could just figure out where he was, they could still damage him.
"Sensory!"
"Sensory!"
Both Li Yi’s and Lonely Semi City’s characters were humans with the Innate Skill, Sensory. Although Sensory only lasted for a second, it was still more than enough for a powerhouse like them to locate an invisible enemy.
"You deal damage, I’ll pull away the undead!"
Lonely Semi City yelled as he used teor Volcano to pull away all of the undead Zangila had created.
Li Yi had sensed Zangila’s hiding spot and attacked imdiately. This phase looked difficult, but as long as one knew the correct strategy, it was in fact, the easiest segnt. One person just had to take the slow-moving undead army out for a leisurely stroll, while the other could attack Zangila without even moving. Zangila could not even return fire.
After Li Yi sensed Zangila, he placed a bright red Hunt Target on Zangila’s head. No matter how he moved, the Hunt Target would not vanish. In other words, Zangila, who was currently invisible, was nothing more than a live target for Li Yi.
They must never kill the undead army. All they had to do was take the undead on a wild goose chase.
Lonely Semi City had the Flash skill, so he could easily take the undead army out for a walk. It was even easier for Li Yi, who just had to stand there and shoot with everything he had. He would get a Critical Hit with every two or three arrows, and Zangila’s remaining 1,000,000HP did not last very long before it was emptied out.
"Zangila’s most loyal followers, ugh... Why didn’t you save Zangila?"
Zangila’s body reappeared and he muttered his final line as he held his chest before he finally fell to the ground, dead.
"teor Volcano!"
Lonely Semi City had been waiting for a long ti. With one blow of his teor Volcano, he killed off several hundred of the undead, all at once.
[Congratulations! You have killed the Level 60 Epic-Level World Boss, Zangila. Do you want to announce this news to the world?]
"Announce it!"
Li Yi and Lonely Semi City chose the sa option at the sa ti.
[This incident has been recorded in Pantheon Hall of Fa!]
[Player Dark Wing has achieved the first kill of the Level 60 Epic-level World Boss, Zangila. System reward 50,000 Gold Coins obtained! System reward 5,000 points Reputation Value with various major cities obtained! System reward 1,000,000 EXP obtained! Additionally, 3 Skill Points obtained.]
[Player Lonely Semi City has achieved the first kill of the Level 60 Epic-level World Boss, Zangila. System reward 50,000 Gold Coins obtained! System reward 5,000 points Reputation Value with various major cities obtained! System reward 1,000,000 EXP obtained! Additionally, 3 Skill Points obtained.]
The red system notifications spamd the channels no fewer than a hundred tis, inciting yet another uproar throughout the world of Pantheon.
"Motherf*ckers! I’m just Level 40, and I still get my *ss handed back to
when I fight a Level 20 world boss. Now you’re f*cking telling
that they managed to kill a Level 60 Epic-level boss with just the two of them?"
"Isn’t that too much? I’ve been grinding levels since day one, and I dare say that I worked harder than just about anyone, but I’m still at Level 48. This... Isn’t this too much to stomach?"
"What do you think? I spent 5,000,0000 RMB on this. I even hired others to carry
into dungeons every day, and I’m still only at Level 50. It took
forever to forcefully gather a suit of gold-colored equipnt, but if you’re asking
to solo a world boss, I couldn’t even beat a Level 30 world boss."
"There’s sothing fishy, they must’ve cheated!"
"I’ve always said it, that Dark Wing fella is hella suspicious. If I’m not mistaken, he musta used hacks to get all the way up there. And look at that Lonely Semi City, how could Fire Spells be that OP? I call hacks. Everyone, let’s file a complaint together and chase their *sses out of Pantheon!"
"What do you know, you morons? If you’re not as good as them, don’t go being all jealous. They could do it just cuz they’re that good!"
"Exactly, you’re all a bunch of green-eyed monsters. All you’re good at is getting jealous, you’re the type I look down on the most."
The World Channel exploded into havoc. So players tried to defend Li Yi and Lonely Semi City while others accused them to the very end. Either way, it was clear that this first kill had a huge impact on the Pantheon world.
How could it not? Most players had not even reached Level 50, but right here they were saying that a re two people managed to take down a Level 60 Epic-level boss. Sure, there was a difference between powerhouses and noobs, but such an enormous difference naturally did not go down well with many people.
"That’s my quest accomplished, see ya!"
Lonely Semi City did not even give Zangila’s corpse a glance. He rely nodded at Li Yi and then rubbed the Return City Stone, vanishing from the spot. It must be said that he was really quite decisive, and did walk the talk. He said that he would not take any items, and he ant it.
"Ding ding!"
"Good job, young Archer. Thank you for completing my final wish!" The soul of Blackbeard’s descendant appeared and bowed deeply at Li Yi. At the sa ti, Li Yi’s body shone with a golden light. Now that he had completed the quest of killing Zangila, he had leveled up once more!
The system reward was 3 Skill Points and the quest reward was 5 Skill Points. One boss fight had already earned him 8 points, and once added to the ones he had saved up from before, he currently had 12 Skill Points for him to use.
He could learn a Level 60 skill and have 2 points left over. Li Yi did not hesitate to put all 10 Skill Points into Eliminate, filling it up to Level 20.
Level 20 Eliminate had an attack range of 5 slots ahead of the user, and it ignored 30% of the target’s DEF, dealing damage that was triple that of the user’s ATK. It was a guaranteed Critical Hit against opponents with less than 90% HP, and the cooldown ti was reduced to 1 minute.
Only Level 20, in other words, max-leveled, Eliminate could be considered epic. Of course, this required a heavy cost as well. Not everyone could afford 20 Skill Points to max out Eliminate. Only players like Li Yi who constantly obtained first kills could bear that cost.
The Skill Point prerequisite for the Eliminate skill involved putting 60 points into the Assassination Path. That requirent alone was enough to send many hopefuls away, disappointed.
He had finally completed one path. By now, Li Yi had obtained more or less all of the Assassination Path skills aside from Overlord Arrow. From now on, he could place more emphasis on learning skills from the other two paths.
"My grandfather buried that Divine Bow in the Eastern Continent’s Silver Moon Canyon. I can’t be sure about the exact location. I’ve tried looking for it too, but unfortunately, I never found it. However, I’m absolutely sure that this information is true. Young Archer, so long as you search for it with all your heart, you’ll definitely be able to find that Divine Bow!"
"Ding!"
The Epic-level Class Quest changed to Silver Moon Oath.
[Silver Moon Oath: the whereabouts of Wrath of the Stars is finally certain. Now, head to Silver Moon Canyon in the Eastern Continent and search for that Divine Bow. Hopefully... you may find it.]
[Quest Difficulty: B. Quest Rewards: 200,000 EXP, Level 60 Skill To x1 (Random)]
...
"Rember, only warriors who have earned the recognition of the Goddess are allowed to pick up the Divine Bow!"
The soul of Blackbeard’s descendant faded away. Li Yi rubbed his hands and went to loot Zangila’s corpse.
"Ding!"
A Virtual Inventory Pane appeared before his eyes, and there was a long list of several dozen items on it. As expected of a Level 60 Epic-level boss’ drop rate, it truly was sothing else.
There were eleven potion formulae, 7 pieces of gold-colored equipnt, and 1 piece of purple-colored equipnt.
His hand was finally not trash!
When Li Yi saw that piece of purple equipnt, Li Yi’s heart relaxed. Even he was afraid that his Trash Hand effect would be too strong.
[Zangila’s Anti-poison Belt (purple quality)]
[Equipnt Level: 60 (Type: All-class)]
[P-DEF1 300]
[M-DEF
300]
[Max HP Limit increased by 3,000 points.]
[Special effect: Reduces poison damage by 50%.]
[Special effect: Increases poison damage by 50%.]
[Note: The only reason Zangila could retain a fraction of his sanity despite being heavily poisoned was that he had this belt equipped...]
...
Even though this purple belt did not have any special skills, its attributes were uber legendary. A normal Level 60 belt would increase the max HP limit by 200, and a piece of gold-colored equipnt would only increase it by 500 to 1,000 HP, but this purple equipnt sohow increased it by 3,000 HP. Its attributes were even better than a Level 100 gold-colored belt.
Li Yi equipped this belt and his HP imdiately surged up to 4,500 . Although it still was not as good as a main tank of the sa level, it was still much more health than a normal armored class would have.
If he used Violent Bear’s Protection on top of that, his HP would go over 10,000...
There was a pair of shoes among the 7 pieces of gold-colored equipnt called Leopard Print Ankle Boots. Although the na alone would cause one to cringe in embarrassnt, the stats made up for it. The boots provided a
8 SPD, making them even better than Unending Unmatched’s shoes. The only flaw was probably that they did not co with a special skill.
If he equipped them, all he had to do was to craft a Rocket Propellant and install it onto the shoes when he got back.
Li Yi put on the shoes and equipped the belt, feeling as though he had gotten significantly more powerful once more.
The remaining gold-colored equipnt was useless now, so he would bring them to the Auction House later and sell them. The other big rewards Li Yi had obtained were the eleven potion formulae.
Zangila was an Apothecarist by class, so it did not matter if one’s hand was trash or godly. As long as they killed him, he was sure to drop potion formulae. The only difference was that sotis the potion formulae he dropped were very precious, while other tis they were trash.
An Advanced-level HP Recovery Potion Formula, an Advanced-level Resistance Potion, an Advanced-level Mana Recovery Potion...
Not one of these eleven potion formulae went to waste. Li Yi could use them all!
