Ch.6 Why Won’t You Let

Cling to Your Leg?

“Everyone, this is the situation: Both Miss Rose and Mister Luo Nan have lost their mories of the relevant events, and Miss Rose remains physically intact. Therefore, the accusation against Luo Nan is invalid.”

In the banquet hall, Imperial Princess Serela stood at the center, announcing the notarization result to the crowd.

“Phew… at last, I’ve narrowly escaped for now.”

Only after Serela’s words concluded did Luo Nan finally relax his tightly wound nerves.

He had successfully navigated the first plot node.

Although the handling wasn’t perfect—and he’d nearly lost his life—

…but at least it proved his villainous fate could be altered, right?

As long as he avoided the subsequent ‘fallen plot points’ related to Luo Nan von dillion, he could comfortably live on as a noble young master.

As for the ‘Final Battle’? Saving the world?

None of my damn business!

In his previous life, he’d slaved away like a grandson under the 996 system, accumulating a host of illnesses while still young; in this life, not only had he beco the eldest son of a grand duke, but he also possessed a massive advantage akin to ‘precognition’.

Might as well thoroughly enjoy the luxurious, decadent life of the feudal privileged class!

Thinking this, Luo Nan’s entire deanor brightened.

[World Deviation Rate: 1.2% → 1.8%]

[Luo Nan von dillion’s relationships with himself, Anya Sivans, and Serela von Austrein have changed—worldline has shifted.]

[Repair chanism activated… subsequent worldline re-evolving…]

[Repair complete. Good luck, Luo Nan.]

“Hey hey hey, can you respond to

just once?”

Luo Nan’s good mood was instantly shattered by the voice surfacing in his mind for the third ti.

But just like last ti, no matter how he called out, this aloof cheat device refused to acknowledge him.

Is this even worthy of being called a cheat device!?

After a brief mont of complaint, Luo Nan quickly adjusted his mindset and used this quiet interval to carefully savor and analyze every word from the cheat device.

He noticed the voice in his mind had repeatedly ntioned ‘worldline deviation’ and even provided specific ‘deviation rates’.

Luo Nan didn’t know exactly how the deviation rate was calculated, nor what would happen if it reached 100%.

But he could vaguely sense that whenever the plot diverged from its original trajectory, this voice—or cheat device—would notify him.

“So… my cheat device only has a notification function?”

Slightly exasperated, Luo Nan rubbed his cheeks, glanced at the banquet hall—now restored to its golden splendor—and at the Fourth Imperial Princess, who had beco the center of everyone’s attention. He turned to the server beside him and said, “Please inform Her Highness Serela that I’m feeling unwell and will be leaving first.”

Leaving the banquet venue and stepping into the outdoor garden, Luo Nan closed his eyes and greedily inhaled the night breeze and floral fragrance.

The cicadas of late sumr still droned on, and the twin moons above showered the earth with gentle, silvery radiance.

Luo Nan clenched his fists, attentively feeling each heartbeat within his body.

“Like a world apart…”

In his mory, the towering skyscrapers of his previous world receded into the distance, while the uniquely crafted garden before him and the luxurious carriage awaiting him in the distance gradually grew clearer.

“Enough. The past of that world is already gone. I must… look forward, at least live well in this life.”

After adjusting his mindset, Luo Nan walked toward the carriage awaiting him ahead.

“Mister dillion, please wait a mont.”

Hmm? That voice…

Luo Nan halted, plastered a smile back onto his face, and turned toward Anya Sivans, who was jogging toward him from behind.

As a ‘temperantal, debauched young scoundrel’, occasionally being polite was perfectly normal, right?

“Miss Anya, what is it? Oh, if it’s about subsequent employnt matters, you can co to dillion Duke Manor—there are professionals there to liaise with you.”

“No, I… I ca to apologize.”

The girl lifted her head. Her beautiful golden eyes, glowing like molten amber in the night, reflected the twin moons above.

“I, Anya Sivans, truly wronged you. I mistakenly believed you were that kind of person, that kind of…”

She seed too embarrassed to finish the word—perhaps unwilling, or unable to find the right term to describe it.

Whoa!?

The ‘Chosen Hero’ actively ca to improve relations with him—this was a golden opportunity he must seize!

He must rember—even though ‘The Shining Myriad Trails’ was marketed as an ensemble ga, the degree of focus given to each heroine still differed.

While playing, Luo Nan could sense that if one truly had to select a ‘true heroine’ among the many, none other than the ‘Chosen Hero’, Anya Sivans, would qualify.

Thinking this, Luo Nan displayed a handso smile. “It’s alright, I…”

[Warning: Due to Luo Nan von dillion repeatedly disturbing the worldline within a short tifra, the rate has exceeded the original self-repair threshold.]

[Please proceed with caution in subsequent actions to prevent irreversible world collapse.]

What!?

That voice resurfaced in Luo Nan’s mind, delivering a warning.

Exceeded the original self-repair rate?

Proceed with caution in subsequent actions?

Luo Nan’s brain raced at lightning speed and instantly drew a conclusion—

It seed… that actions resisting the original plot—including altering plot point trajectories and changing relationships with the heroines—had an upper limit within a designated tifra.

In the original plot, what was his relationship with Anya…

Well, what else could the relationship between a villain and protagonist be?

But he didn’t want to be enemies with the protagonists—he really wanted to cling tightly to Anya’s leg!

Yet that phrase ‘to prevent irreversible world collapse’ clearly told him: You. Cannot!

At least, not now.

Realizing this, Luo Nan took a deep breath and forcibly twisted the words already on the tip of his tongue by 180 degrees:

“It’s alright, I… don’t care at all about your accusation. Even if I hadn’t done it—if I had done it… what could you possibly do to ?”

Luo Nan lifted his chin, stepped forward, and—using his height advantage—looked down condescendingly at Anya, his lips curling once more into the signature smile of a ‘debauched young scoundrel’.

“You…”

Before Anya could react, Luo Nan turned and stepped onto the carriage’s footboard. Before entering the cabin, he added: “Of course, I keep my word—the liaison job I hired you for remains valid, and your daily 30 Surs won’t be reduced by a single coin.”

“But if you think you can use this job—or any other leverage—to cozy up to , given your status…”

Luo Nan’s deep, dark eyes swept over Anya, whose mind seed montarily frozen. “Don’t dream about it…”

With that, he entered the carriage. The three-horse team let out a long whinny and, at the coachman’s command, gradually disappeared beneath the twin moons.

“What… is this guy’s brain broken or sothing?”

Anya Sivans couldn’t help but twitch the corner of her mouth. She could hardly believe that the noble who had handled all matters so thodically in the hall—even while deeply embroiled in suspicion and surviving an assassination attempt—could calmly and systematically clear his na, yet his true nature was actually like this?

She had just assud the rumors circulating in Gray Street about Luo Nan were exaggerated nonsense.

Who knew… they were true—he really was an arrogant, temperantal debauched young scoundrel!

She guessed his polite deanor in the banquet hall was only because Her Highness Serela, soone who could socially overpower him, was present.

This perfectly matched her impression of those trash nobles who bullied the weak and feared the strong.

“Damn it, if it weren’t to save up extra living expenses before the sester starts, I wouldn’t work for a guy like this!”

“Thirty Surs a day—I’ve got to get my hands on that!”

“Anya Sivans! Who gave you permission to leave your post? Were you hired to work or to slack off!?” A reprimand from the service team leader rang out from behind.

“Ah, coming, coming!”

Anya shook her head, banishing Luo Nan’s handso face from her mind, and quickly ran back toward the main banquet area.

“Seriously… what a waste of that face.” She thought to herself.

As the girl passed by, the plump service team leader remarked as if casually: “Young lady, I advise you to focus your energy on the right path. Lately, quite a few scheming individuals have been trying unconventional thods to climb into nobles’ beds—especially young, handso, and wealthy nobles like Young Master dillion.”

“But such thods… rarely succeed.”

Anya stumbled slightly, clenched her fists, and turned to glare fiercely at the team leader. She was about to loudly refute her but suddenly seed to recall sothing and loosened her grip.

I’m here to earn money. Don’t stoop to the level of gossipmongers. Relax, relax… Anya Sivans, you need to relax…

Adjusting her mindset, the girl forced a smile and replied:

“Heh.”

Before the team leader could retort, Anya picked up her tray and rushed back to her battlefield.

Dong, dong, dong—

The capital’s landmark, Baber Tower Clock, struck twelve tis, pulling Luo Nan—lost in thought within the carriage—back to reality.

“Indeed… my cheat device is rely a notifier.”

“Heh… what was I expecting? I’m just a villain, after all. Being able to know the plot’s direction in advance is already incredibly fortunate.”

“Golden fingers and such… those belong to the protagonists.”

“The relationship I had just begun to build with the ‘Chosen Hero’ has been reset by myself… no, perhaps even worse than before.”

“After all… though I didn’t say it outright, I still attacked her background.”

“Trying to repair it later will likely be even harder.”

[Detected: Worldline is re-deviating back toward its original trajectory.]

[The world will grant you a certain reward, opening new possibilities for you, Luo Nan.]

Oh? It seems my relationship with Anya is realigning with the original plot.

Looks like my earlier words were indeed quite effective.

As for the reward…

“What’s the reward? Stop being cryptic—tell

quickly.”

“Are you there?”

“Looks like you’re gone again…”

No matter how Luo Nan called out in his mind, that voice remained as willfully aloof as ever, never responding.

“Fine. Judging by this, it’s probably not a simple, direct system reward. Perhaps… it will be delivered to

in so reasonable form through subsequent events?”

“And that ‘opening new possibilities for you’ is likely the form this reward will take.”

The carriage gradually ca to a halt. Outside the cabin, the coachman’s respectful voice followed:

“Young Master, we’re ho.”
