Ch.29 I Won’t Be Your Master

“You heard —co with

now.”

With that, Luo Nan no longer paid attention to the little wolf girl on the ground and stood up, walking out of the room.

‘Sigh, I’ve learned my lesson this ti.’

‘Absolutely no more pilgrimages to sacred sites in the future! It’s just giving

trolley-problem dilemmas!’

Luo Nan really didn’t want to take Zhixia’s slave contract from Shion, because he understood that in the original plot, this should have been done by Anya Sivans. Now, wasn’t he essentially ‘stealing the spotlight’?

He didn’t know what impact his actions would have on the worldline, even though Cheat Device Miss had just told him to ‘follow his heart’ and assured him it wouldn’t cause irreversible collapse.

But he still felt uneasy inside!

‘However, if I leave it alone, the Silver Moon Sky Wolf might face a different fate due to my presence. Shion ntioned disposing of her…’

‘So, whether I intervene or not, Zhixia Cangya’s fate has already changed.’

Luo Nan consoled himself while pondering how to handle Zhixia Cangya.

Becoming her master was impossible—he was certain that even if he did, as one of the heroines, Zhixia would find other ways to escape his clutches and view him as an enemy.

‘So, I should still grant her freedom, right?’

‘But after giving her freedom, will she still be able to et Anya later…’

‘Never mind, I won’t think about it. After all, Miss Cheat said the worldline has self-repair functions. Even if it can’t repair itself, as long as these heroines don’t hate , it’s fine.’

‘After I’m gone, let the floodwaters rise!’

With that thought, Luo Nan turned around and looked at Zhixia Cangya, who had followed him out of Snow Wolf Lily’s Cottage.

“If I rember correctly, you took

hostage earlier to exchange for your freedom, right?”

“…”

The little wolf girl lowered her head, her ssy silver hair hanging down. Her untrimd bangs slightly obscured her glacier-blue eyes, making it impossible for Luo Nan to discern her thoughts.

“No response? It doesn’t matter. Honestly, I don’t intend to be your master.”

“…”

Luo Nan still received no response, but this ti, he could see the little wolf girl’s head, previously lowered, suddenly jerk up, her icy eyes filled with shock.

But when she realized she was locking eyes with Luo Nan’s deep, night-like black pupils, she imdiately lowered her head again, lost in thought.

“Heh, this little one is still quite shy—even though she yearns so much for freedom, she won’t even acknowledge .”

“Ah, no—I rember Shion said Zhixia Cangya is already an adult, so her age is probably about the sa as mine.”

‘Legal lolita—pretty cool.’

After letting his thoughts wander slightly, Luo Nan spoke to Zhixia again about his decision. “I know you crave freedom. The reason I obtained your contract from Shion is precisely to return your freedom to you.”

“After all, you didn’t truly intend to harm , right?”

Based on Luo Nan’s understanding of Zhixia Cangya, even if Shion hadn’t agreed to her demands in the room, the little wolf girl wouldn’t have actually carried out the threat.

“Actually, I quite admire your spirit of resistance—it reminds

of… certain past experiences.”

“Never mind, let’s not talk about that. Just know that I genuinely want to help you.”

With that, Luo Nan extended the slave contract toward her.

“Take it. This contract is the shackle binding you—it should be broken by your own hands.”

“…”

After a mont of silence, the little wolf girl in front of Luo Nan raised her head for the second ti. But this ti, her movent was very, very slow—she feared that upon looking up, she wouldn’t see the contract but instead Luo Nan’s mocking gaze.

Due to the significant height difference, Luo Nan’s slightly raised palm was now level with the girl’s chin.

Thus, when the slender right hand holding the contract entered Zhixia’s line of sight, her movent instantly froze.

“…Really? Truly?”

A faint, mosquito-like voice escaped the girl’s lips, tinged with three parts excitent and seven parts disbelief.

“Of course it’s true.”

Receiving this confirmation, the little wolf girl hesitated no longer. She stretched out her snow-white, slender arm to take the contract.

But sohow, just as her fingers were about to touch it, she pulled her hand back.

“Don’t believe ?”

Seeing this, Luo Nan felt sowhat helpless. He naturally understood Zhixia’s reaction—even adults, after such extre emotional swings, tend to avoid rather than accept. And this little wolf girl in front of him was no exception.

Wait—forgot she’s already an adult.

But her ntal age is probably still that of a child, right?

Thinking this, Luo Nan hesitated no longer. He took the girl’s small, snow-white hand and personally placed the contract into it.

“You don’t need to thank

or anything—we’re just chance acquaintances, and I did this for certain reasons…”

“That’s it. Quickly leave Whisper Market. Oh, and when you reach the market entrance, just tell the guards you’re with Mr. Crow—they won’t give you any trouble.”

With that, Luo Nan turned and left without the slightest hesitation.

‘Phew… this unexpected karmic entanglent is finally over,’ Luo Nan thought.

‘Better hurry to the materials market to buy those scales—don’t want any unnecessary complications.’

Clutching the parchnt contract in her hand, Zhixia Cangya still hadn’t processed what had just happened. She couldn’t believe everything she’d just experienced.

Had she really… gained her freedom?

Just like that?

As Shion had said, she originally assud the golden crow-beak masked man bought her to personally torture her—the one who had threatened his life. But she never expected things to take such an unexpected turn!

The girl’s heart now felt unreal.

There was no joy from breaking shackles, nor the anticipated exhilaration she had imagined earlier.

Instead, there was only a faint sense of confusion.

As Luo Nan had said, as long as she tore up this contract, the slave collar around her neck would lose its effect, and she would gain true freedom.

“But what should I do next?”

Zhixia Cangya had never considered this question before. Until now, she had racked her brains solely for freedom, and her life’s only goal had been to obtain freedom.

But when freedom arrived in such an illogical form, Zhixia instantly lost her purpose.

However, the girl’s confusion didn’t last long. After pondering for a mont, she chose not to destroy the contract on the spot but instead tucked it into her bosom.

‘I need to find a safe place to destroy it—sowhere far away from that place, to prevent them, especially Shion, from finding .’

Having set her next goal, the girl was no longer confused. She bowed slightly toward the direction where Luo Nan had disappeared and softly said:

“…Thank you, Mr. Crow.”

With that, the girl shook her head, pulling her silver bangs aside to reveal her pure, glacier-like pale blue pupils, and walked toward the market exit.

“Let

see… Oh? Why have they implented a new sales thod this ti?” Luo Nan said.
