Ch.2 Soone Is Trying to Assassinate

Luo Nan hastily dressed himself in the formal attire scattered across the sofa, rubbed his face to compose himself, then shouted toward the door:

“Soone co quick! There’s an assassin!”

He knew the ‘Chosen Hero’ was just outside the door, and there was no ti to tidy up the room. If she burst in first, he would certainly lose the initiative.

Even if he hadn’t done anything yet, under the montum of public perception, he would inevitably beco the target of everyone’s condemnation.

This shout couldn’t completely transform his identity from ‘perpetrator’ to ‘victim’, but it could grant him a asure of initiative.

Before three seconds had passed since his shout—and while Luo Nan was still ntally rehearsing his next lines—the lounge door was violently kicked open with a loud “Bang—!”

Luo Nan looked up, and a pair of lively golden eyes imdiately captured his full attention.

The girl who had burst through the door possessed a lithe, athletic figure. Her chestnut hair was tied into a high ponytail, and her form-fitting server’s uniform accentuated her remarkably capable deanor. Even wearing high heels, the heroic spirit in her eyes remained unmistakable.

“Anya Sivans.”

Luo Nan instantly recognized the girl’s identity—those distinctive golden eyes were the hallmark of the ‘Chosen Hero’, and he had been deeply impressed by them while playing ‘The Shining Myriad Trails’ in his previous life.

“Where’s the assassin?”

A crisp, clear voice rang out. The girl cautiously scanned the room, grabbed a nearby coat hanger, and swiftly stepped in front of Luo Nan.

Anya’s gaze flickered toward the unconscious girl at Luo Nan’s feet. Her heroic brows furrowed slightly, and her expression toward him grew increasingly hostile.

The reason Anya had co to this secluded lounge was because a female attendee had grabbed her arm and urgently told her, “There’s a woman’s cries for help coming from that room—she’s probably being forced by a man.”

Upon hearing this, Anya hadn’t hesitated—she imdiately hurried toward the room.

Who would have thought that, just as she was about to begin her rescue, she’d hear soone shout “There’s an assassin!”—and that voice had co from precisely the room she was heading toward.

To be honest, she was montarily bewildered, but her body instinctively sprang into action.

Better safe than sorry.

Luo Nan glanced at Anya’s puzzled expression and imdiately added: “You’re a server? Hurry, go call the guards—I suspect soone drugged

and Miss Rose.”

“Wait a mont—you’re… the son of Duke dillion, Luo Nan von dillion?” Anya seed to recognize this man, who had briefly been the center of everyone’s attention during the banquet’s opening.

As a temporary worker hired through special channels to earn extra money, she didn’t know most of the young nobles attending the banquet, but she certainly recognized the few who were constantly surrounded by admirers.

Especially this Luo Nan von dillion—his infamous reputation was so widespread that even tavern workers in Gray Street could casually chat about anecdotes like ‘the neurotic young master born with a silver spoon’ or ‘the capital’s most capricious aristocratic scoundrel’.

“Yes, it’s . Hurry, do as I say,” Luo Nan said with a tense expression, adopting the persona of a ‘life-threatened aristocratic young master’ as he commanded Anya. “Wait—no, I’ll go with you. It’s too dangerous here!”

Without waiting for Anya’s response, Luo Nan imdiately scooped up the still-unconscious Rose and quickly strode toward the door, not forgetting to instruct: “What are you standing there for? Protect !”

From the corner of his eye, he saw Anya’s bewildered expression and thought to himself: “Good, she’s been thrown off-balance by my rapid maneuvers. I must get her out of this plot location first.”

“Wait—where exactly is the assassin?”

Relying on her peak first-tier supernatural perception, Anya detected no presence of a fourth person within the room.

“I don’t know. Shouldn’t matters like this be handled by the guards?” Luo Nan casually deflected her question as he quickly exited the room.

“Wait, no—that’s not right!”

Anya, instinctively falling into the role of bodyguard as she followed Luo Nan, soon realized sothing was amiss.

Using her supernatural perception—far superior to that of ordinary people—she was certain there was absolutely no trace of an assassin in the room!

Combined with her original purpose for coming here, Anya began to suspect Luo Nan von dillion was deliberately creating a diversion!

He must have done sothing unspeakable!

anwhile, Luo Nan had successfully carried Rose out of the room. At the sa mont, mbers of the security detail arrived, drawn by the commotion.

Seeing them, Luo Nan handed Rose over to the guards and leaned against the wall, letting out a sigh of relief. “Quickly, search the room—I suspect soone is trying to assassinate .”

Upon hearing Luo Nan’s words, the arriving guards imdiately panicked. Their captain hurriedly flattered him: “Young Master dillion, rest assured—we will never let the assassin escape!”

“Seal off the entire building.”

“Wait! I’ve already checked the room—there’s no trace of anyone else inside.”

Anya erged from the room, still holding the coat hanger—which was taller than she was—and slamd it down with a loud ‘thud’. “Moreover, soone reported that Luo Nan von dillion attempted to assault Miss Rose!”

With that, the girl’s heroic brows shot upward, and her lively golden eyes glared furiously at Luo Nan.

Excellent reaction—perfectly in line with the ‘Chosen Hero’s’ personality traits.

But sorry—Luo Nan had already exited the designated plot location, and now he was surrounded by these guards who instinctively ‘feared authority’.

The ‘montum’ was now firmly on his side!

“How dare you! A re server dares to accuse Young Master dillion?” Without Luo Nan needing to speak, the guard captain imdiately berated Anya. “Furthermore, whether an assassin is present or not should be determined by us guards—when did it beco your place to draw conclusions!?”

“I am actually—”

Anya, scolded harshly, imdiately tightened her grip on the wooden coat hanger, which began to creak pitifully under the pressure.

But as if rembering sothing, she stopped herself from finishing her sentence.

Only a trace of unyielding defiance and resentnt flickered within her golden eyes.

She kept reminding herself she was here to earn money—there was no need to provoke these people.

“Enough. After all, this server girl was the first to rush to my protection. Honestly, she wasn’t obligated to do so, yet she still acted.”

Luo Nan played the ‘good cop’, his gaze sweeping over the girl’s face, taking in her tightly pressed cherry lips and furrowed heroic brows.

“As for her accusation that I ‘forced myself on Miss Rose,’ I’m certain there’s been so misunderstanding…”

“By the way, I also suspect soone drugged the wine to create chaos. Find soone to analyze the composition of the wine in the room.”

Noticing that many young nobles attending the banquet had been drawn by the commotion, Luo Nan turned to the guard captain and commanded in front of the crowd: “Go to the Arcane Association and bring soone to analyze it. Until they arrive, seal off this room—allow no one inside.”

“As for this server girl, please remain here. Once Miss Rose awakens and the wine analysis is complete, we’ll resolve this misunderstanding face to face…”

With that, Luo Nan swaggered—under the protection of the guards—toward the center of the banquet hall and took a conspicuous seat.

Surveying his surroundings, Luo Nan relaxed his limbs, leaned back comfortably, and smiled as he asked the young nobles—who were desperately trying to keep their distance—“Has our protagonist arrived yet? She’s certainly kept everyone waiting.”

Given his established reputation, this attitude and these words were perfectly consistent with what everyone expected from Luo Nan von dillion.

Just as Luo Nan had summoned a server and lifted a glass of champagne to his lips, a voice interrupted him:

“Her Highness has arrived!”
