Chapter 8: Chapter 8: Cat

Page 2, Mo Xiaoxue

That’s not the most important thing. The most important thing is the date of birth, which says March 1st of this year.

And in the relationship column, the words "siblings" are glaringly written.

Looking at Mo Xiaoxue’s ID number on the household register, Chen Junqiang entered it into his police phone and checked it, confirming that the information is indeed true.

Moreover, the ID numbers of Mo Jingchun and Mo Xiaoxue both start with the sa digits.

In other words, at this very mont, the little one sitting in the stroller, holding a bottle and sucking on it, with two beautiful big eyes curiously looking at him, is indeed Mo Jingchun’s sister.

To be precise, the little one is looking at Mo Jingchun, who is standing opposite him with his head lowered.

"Siblings"

These two familiar words, at this mont, were like a bludgeon, hamring heavily on Chen Junqiang’s chest.

So weak and powerless, yet so overwhelmingly strong.

For a mont, Chen Junqiang, feeling suffocated, didn’t know how to open his mouth. He’s skilled at maintaining order and catching bad guys, but when it cos to comforting soone, comforting soone who has lost their parents and still needs to take care of a sister who looks less than a year old, Chen Junqiang has no clue.

Moreover, the little one in the stroller is so small, which ans the ti Mo Jingchun lost his mother was definitely no more than a year ago, and maybe even less than half a year.

Died from childbirth complications?

Chen Junqiang doesn’t know, nor would he dare ask, otherwise, it would be like rubbing salt into the still-healing wounds of Mo Jingchun.

Standing behind Chen Junqiang, Du Xiaohan, who is only 165 cm tall, couldn’t see the contents of the household register, but she could see the change in Chen Junqiang’s expression.

This made Du Xiaohan even more curious, what kind of information could cause such a rich change in a policeman’s face.

Is the household register fake? As soon as this thought ca up, Du Xiaohan dismissed it herself.

In the internet age, if a household register is fake, a simple check would expose it. There’s no need to fake it, especially since Du Xiaohan also saw the policeman verify the information with his phone just now.

The fact that the policeman did not imdiately say the household register had issues further confirms that it is real and problem-free.

What different information could there be on the household register, Du Xiaohan really couldn’t imagine. She had used a household register a few tis, but never paid much attention to the detailed information on it.

In Du Xiaohan’s impression, it just noted nas, family addresses, ID numbers, gender, education, and date of birth.

The crowd gathered around hadn’t stopped their discussions, so were laughing, so looked disgusted, and others, having just co over, had faces of shock upon hearing the comnts of others.

"Everyone, please, there’s nothing going on here, no need to make wild guesses,"

The first thing Chen Junqiang thought about was dispersing the onlookers.

A loud-voiced middle-aged woman in the crowd asked:

"Officer, this person isn’t stealing children, right?"

As soon as the middle-aged woman finished speaking, a lump ford in Chen Junqiang’s heart. He quickly shook his head and said, "No, ma’am."

Chen Junqiang paused and added, "I’m just conducting a routine check."

"Everyone please disperse, we don’t want to scare the child."

"Oh, okay."

Though so people showed reluctance, most dispersed and found places to sit. A few still lingered, glancing back with curiosity.

With a stiff smile, Chen Junqiang returned the admission notice and household register to Mo Jingchun.

"Here you are, your items."

Mo Jingchun didn’t look up and silently accepted the Jing University admission notice and household register from the policeman, turned, and squatted to carefully place the important docunts back into his suitcase.

He understood the actions of the policeman and the woman, but that understanding didn’t stop the pain he felt from being uncontrollable.

In monts like these, Mo Jingchun could easily point at the woman behind the policeman and snap, "You’re sick," leaving her speechless.

"I’m sorry, I..." Before Chen Junqiang could finish, he was cut off by Mo Jingchun.

"It’s nothing."

Mo Jingchun took a tissue from his pocket and wiped the milk dribble from his sister Candy’s chin. The little one’s brow furrowed in dissatisfaction.

At a loss, Chen Junqiang was gently nudged in the back by the silent Du Xiaohan. He turned and shook his head at her, signaling her not to speak.

After moving away from where Mo Jingchun was, and walking so distance, Chen Junqiang finally explained to Du Xiaohan.

"Don’t take it to heart, you did the right thing. Better safe than sorry."

With that said, Chen Junqiang left, heading towards the convenience store near the restrooms, leaving behind the silent Du Xiaohan.

"Is it really right?"

Du Xiaohan seed to be questioning herself, and also questioning the policeman.

She looked at the hunched over, small figure. The difference now was that the person’s face no longer showed a smile like before.

And it was all because of her.

....................

Having cleaned Candy’s bottle, Mo Jingchun was about to drag his luggage back to his seat.

"Let

help you with that."

Du Xiaohan wanted to help Mo Jingchun with his suitcase, but Mo Jingchun’s hand on the handle wouldn’t let go.

What happened next left Du Xiaohan dumbfounded.

One person wouldn’t let go, and the other, feeling a bit guilty, was too eager.

Du Xiaohan’s fingernail scratched Mo Jingchun’s right hand, leaving a white mark. The white mark quickly turned red and started bleeding within a blink of the eye.

Luckily, the blood soon clotted.

"I’m sorry, I’m so sorry, I really didn’t an it."

Du Xiaohan was at a loss, repeating over and over, "I’m sorry, I didn’t an it."

Without expression, Mo Jingchun glanced down at his right hand, then up at the botherso woman.

"Ma’am, could you please step aside?" Mo Jingchun spoke almost through gritted teeth.

Even a monk has a temper, let alone soone like Mo Jingchun, who’s still in his impulsive teenage years.

Back in school, Mo Jingchun would never have restrained himself like this.

Sitting back down, Mo Jingchun carefully examined his scratched right hand.

"What bad luck! If I’d known, I’d have set off a day earlier."

"What happened?" Chen Junqiang sat down on the seat next to Mo Jingchun and asked.

Faced with the returning policeman’s inquiry, Mo Jingchun paused silently, then spoke, "It’s nothing, I just got scratched by a cat."

"A cat? I’m on duty here all the ti, I’ve never seen a cat around." Chen Junqiang looked puzzled.

"It already ran off, maybe it just ca by today."
