Chapter 485: Chapter 485 The Appearance of the Five Elents Stone
"My grandfather can’t compare to Mr. Yang. Mr. Yang is the president of the National dicine Association in Jingnan Prefecture, while my grandfather is just a vice president," Chen Baixiang said.
"Such a young president!" Jin Ruoyun was quite surprised.
"Alright, you get so rest. I’ll go find him right now, tell him about your situation, and see if there’s a cure. Even if there isn’t, I believe he can at least help reduce your pain."
After bidding Jin Ruoyun goodbye, Chen Baixiang ran toward the Death Battle Arena’s market. Aside from so particularly valuable items reserved for the auction, most things were available for sale in the market.
At that mont, Yang Qi was in the market selecting the dicinal herbs he needed. It had to be said, finding herbs over thirty years old was difficult in other places, yet here, they were plentiful. These herbs might not be of much use to Yang Qi, but for people like the Wolf King, they were incredibly beneficial. So, he spent a million to buy a large quantity of herbs aged between fifty and one hundred years. Herbs over a hundred years old were only available at the auction and couldn’t be found here.
What left Yang Qi speechless was that Tang Fei and his group still hadn’t left. They were standing in the distance, pointing and muttering about him.
In fact, Tang Fei, Jiang Shan, and the others were consud with jealousy and resentnt. They had been put in their place by Chen Baixiang and had no choice but to accept it, as they couldn’t afford to offend her. But Yang Qi was different. In their eyes, he was just a pretty boy, flaunting his connection to Chen Baixiang in front of them. It was infuriating. They couldn’t stand to see him doing well.
"All that money was won last night! That kid is just riding my coattails!" Tang Fei said indignantly. "He should have given
half!"
"Exactly! A good-for-nothing from a fallen family! A loser abandoned by a woman! I really don’t understand what Chen Baixiang sees in him," Jiang Shan cursed. "Young Master Tang, you’re better than that loser in every way—looks, status, and character!"
Seeing Yang Qi, the very man she had deceived, now doing so well was simply unbearable.
"Right! He isn’t even worthy of carrying Young Master Tang’s shoes!" another woman chid in, nodding emphatically.
"Young Master Tang, should I go teach him a lesson? There’s no one else with him right now," another man suggested.
"No. It’ll be trouble if soone from the City Lord Mansion is around. Don’t forget what happened with Yagyu Youya," Tang Fei said, shaking his head.
For now, all they could do was make sour remarks behind his back. They didn’t dare to actually confront Yang Qi. It wasn’t him they feared, but the City Lord Mansion. They still believed it was the people from the City Lord Mansion who had eliminated Yagyu Youya and his n; they couldn’t imagine anyone else having that kind of power.
After browsing for a while, the auction was set to begin at around ten in the morning. Chen Baixiang found Yang Qi, and they walked toward the Death Battle Arena together. The auction was held in the sa place as the previous night’s opening ceremony. The items sold here were special, a collection of rare and exotic treasures, including antiques, paintings, calligraphy, and many unidentifiable objects.
Yang Qi had little interest in the initial items. In his current state of leisure, even fine antiques and paintings held no appeal. His main goal for the day was, of course, the Five Elents Stone. As for everything else, he wouldn’t mind bidding if sothing truly good appeared. The influential figures in the front rows had already acquired quite a few fine items.
As the auction neared its end, Yang Qi was about to give up when he saw the final item being presented: a multi-colored stone. To an ordinary person, it might look like a simple, perhaps valuable, crystal. But a Martial Artist would likely recognize the unique nature of the Five Elents Stone. It contained the energies of the Five Elents. If a Martial Artist obtained it, they could cultivate their Inner Strength to possess elental attributes, which would be an enormous advantage in a fight.
Therefore, this final item was bound to trigger a battle of dragons and tigers. Yang Qi could see that, apart from Elder Chen Guo, the other prominent figures in the front row were all Martial Artists, and powerful ones at that.
"We don’t know the material of this gemstone; all we know is that not even a diamond can scratch it. However, we trust that there are connoisseurs among you who will recognize its true worth. Now, let the bidding comnce! The starting price is ten million, and each incrent must be no less than one million!" the auctioneer announced.
The organizers didn’t seem to fully grasp the value of the Five Elents Stone. The starting price of ten million was not low; in fact, it was the only item in the entire auction to start that high.
"I bid one hundred million!"
Just as the auctioneer invited the first bid, Tang Wenqiang from Sea City shouted, stunning the entire crowd.
Is he insane? The starting price is ten million, and he jumps straight to one hundred million? What is he trying to pull?
To be honest, his bid instantly dissuaded many from competing. Regardless of what the item was, few were willing to offend the Tang Family of Sea City. Only the powerful figures in the front row had that kind of courage.
"Brother Tang, do you recognize this item? To raise the price so high at once... are you trying to scare everyone else off?" Gu Shanhe of the Su Mansion said with a frown.
"Heh, I don’t recognize it. I just feel this item and I are fated. Can’t I spend a hundred million on it? If you want to bid, then bid. If not, then don’t," Tang Wenqiang retorted sarcastically.
"Hmph! I bid one hundred and fifty million!" Gu Shanhe gritted his teeth, raising the price by fifty million.
Lin Canghai of Guang Prefecture, Lei Tingjun of Jingnan Prefecture, and Ye Feng all shook their heads. Those two were madn, completely unafraid of competition. Still, they gritted their teeth and placed their own bids. The item was useful for Martial Artists, exceptionally so.
"One hundred and sixty million," Lin Canghai called out.
"One hundred and seventy million," Lei Tingjun followed.
"One hundred and eighty million," Ye Feng bid.
"Look at you all, so stingy," Tang Wenqiang said coldly. "I bid three hundred million. Anyone else want to contend with ?"
Madman! the others cursed under their breath before giving up. Although the Five Elents Stone was indeed useful to them, spending three hundred million on it was truly insane.
"Hahaha, if you’re not bidding, then this item is mine!" Tang Wenqiang was ecstatic. The patriarch of the Tang Family practiced a particular Martial Art that required this Five Elents Stone. He had ordered Tang Wenqiang to obtain it, no matter the cost. Therefore, the price was naturally of no concern to him.
"I bid three hundred and ten million!"
Just as Tang Wenqiang believed the item was his, fantasizing about the praise he would receive from the patriarch, a voice rang out unexpectedly.
Everyone froze.
Instantly, all heads turned to look at the bidder. Although this was an auction, an unspoken rule existed: there were certain people you simply couldn’t compete against, even if you had the money—unless you had a death wish. No one had expected soone to dare to swoop in and snatch it away.
