Chapter 509: Chapter 509: Lord of the Fox Beast City

On the other hand, after Su Mingxuan left with the cubs, Mo Qingli stayed behind with Wang Mulan.

The room finally grew quiet.

Mo Qingli sat beside her and gently stroked her hair, his movents slow and careful, as if afraid she might break.

"You should not worry about anything else," he said softly. "See... life always gives sothing back when it takes sothing away."

Wang Mulan lifted her head and looked at him.

Her eyes were still a little red, but the pain inside them had already softened.

She leaned into his embrace without hesitation, as if she had done it many tis before.

Mo Qingli did not move away. Instead, he held her more firmly.

"You still have your daughter now," he continued in a calm, soothing voice. "Su Mingxuan is living well. You do not have to punish yourself anymore."

His voice was steady, but full of warmth.

"You have already suffered enough... for not being able to protect your child back then."

Those simple words struck deep.

For almost twenty years, Wang Mulan had carried that guilt alone.

But now... it felt like sothing heavy inside her chest was finally loosening. Her fingers slowly gripped his clothes.

Then she whispered, almost uncertainly, "Mo Qingli... why are you so good to ?"

Mo Qingli paused. Then he suddenly laughed.

"You silly woman," he said lightly. "If I am not good to you, then who should I be good to? Other females?"

His teasing tone was obvious.

Wang Mulan stiffened imdiately. She pulled back and glared at him. "You dare!"

Mo Qingli laughed even more, clearly amused. He reached out and pinched her cheek.

"You have already beco a grandmother," he teased. "Why are you still acting like a young girl?"

Wang Mulan’s face turned red.

She pushed him away and kicked lightly at his leg. "You old man! Get out of my way! What are you doing cuddling

like this?"

She grabbed the fruit he had brought and threw it at him without rcy.

"I am already old! Go find so young female instead!"

Mo Qingli did not get angry at all. He only laughed, his eyes full of amusent.

"Such a temper... only young girls have it," he said.

Then he calmly bent down and picked up the fruits one by one, placing them neatly back onto the stone slab.

His actions only made Wang Mulan feel even more embarrassed.

She turned her face away, pretending not to look at him. But the corners of her lips could not help but curl slightly.

Just as the two of them were still bickering, a hurried voice suddenly ca from outside.

"City Lord! Soone from the Fox Beast City has co to et you!"

The atmosphere changed instantly.

Mo Qingli’s smile faded. His expression turned serious in a mont.

"Who has co?" he asked in a deep voice.

It was completely different from the gentle tone he had just used. Before the guard could answer, Wang Mulan had already stood up.

Mo Qingli glanced at her and gently patted her head.

"You stay here," he said softly. "I will go take a look."

But Wang Mulan imdiately shook her head.

"No," she said firmly. "I will go with you."

Mo Qingli looked at her for a mont. Then he nodded.

"Alright."

The two of them walked out together.

The huge stone hall was silent.

Mo Qingli walked in front with steady, firm steps. Behind him, Wang Mulan followed quietly. Her expression had completely changed.

The softness from before was gone. Her back was straight, her chin slightly raised, and her eyes calm and distant.

At this mont, she was no longer just a mother. She was the Priestess of the Dragon Beast City... graceful, noble, and untouchable.

The mont they stepped deeper into the hall, they saw him.

A young man sat lazily on a wide stone seat covered with beautiful beast hides. Tiger fur, wolf fur, and many rare pelts were layered beneath him, showing both wealth and power.

Mo Qingli’s eyes narrowed slightly. The man in front of him was too eye catching and too strange. He was dressed in a flamboyant way, completely different from the usual beastn.

At first glance, it looked like deer skin wrapped around him... but no. It was not deer skin. It was shark silk, a rare fabric that only the rn tribe could produce.

The silk ca from a special plant called "sarc," and only a sea beast with a race similar to a shark could pull out the threads and weave them into cloth. That cloth was priceless, yet this man wore it casually.

The robe hung loosely on his body, exposing part of his chest without care.

Around his neck was a necklace made from a giant beast’s tooth, tied together with smooth sea pearls. His appearance alone made people feel uncomfortable.

Behind him, seven tails swayed slowly. White fur with violet tips.

On top of his head, two fox ears twitched slightly. They were also white, also touched with violet. Even his eyes were violet... deep and dangerous.

The man rested his head lazily on one hand, as if he owned the entire place. But his eyes were sharp and cunning, like a predator watching its prey.

Mo Qingli clicked his tongue unconsciously.

This man was not simple. Not only that... there was sothing off about his gaze. It was too charming, too pulling.

Almost like he had deliberately made his eyes more "siren like," as if they could hook people in without them realizing.

Even Wang Mulan paused for a mont. She looked at him, then her expression darkened slightly.

She knew him, or more precisely, she knew what kind of person he was. He was cold, cruel, and bloodthirsty. A fox who smiled while killing.

Suddenly, a thought flashed through her mind. Her daughter. A trace of rejection rose in her heart imdiately. No, she would never allow it.

At that mont, the young man noticed them. He slowly stood up. His movents were smooth and elegant. Then he smiled... a charming yet dangerous smile.

"Priestess," he said softly. His voice was low, almost like a whisper.

He walked forward without hesitation and gently took Wang Mulan’s hand. Before anyone could react, he lowered his head and kissed the back of her hand. "You are as beautiful as ever."

Wang Mulan stiffened. Her fingers tightened slightly, but her face remained calm. She pulled her hand back slowly. "...You flatter ," she replied in a cold voice.

The three of them took their seats. Silence filled the hall for a mont.

Then Mo Qingli spoke. "What brings the Fox Beast City Lord here?" His tone was steady, but his eyes were sharp.

The young man looked at him. Then he chuckled.

A low, amused laugh echoed in the hall, as if he had just heard sothing very interesting.

His gaze slowly shifted and landed on Wang Mulan again. Wang Mulan’s eyes narrowed as her stern gaze t his.

That glint in his violet eyes beca even deeper and more dangerous, like he was hiding sothing no one else could see.

"Why?" he said softly, tilting his head.

"Am I not allowed to visit..." His smile widened slightly.

"...my future family?"
