Chapter 3 - Weirwood Tree
Dreadfort Castle
POV of Doric Bolton (Harry Potter)
His father, yes, the Sociopath ordered him to continue with his lessons once he was able to walk around properly.
Being treated like a child and having his freedom taken away irritated him to no end and brought up so bad mories from his childhood.
Thankfully he was a child and the only thing he needed to learn right now was so lessons from Maester Wolkan and then so lessons on courtesy and manners from his sociopath father who by the way still kept prisoners in the dungeons under the castle whom he flays at his leisure ti.
But he didn't have a wand and couldn't use advanced magic like Obliviate or Imperio properly without a wand to get what he wanted. He could try to do it wandlessly, but this kind of advanced and dangerous mind magic would have dire consequences if sothing went wrong.
Thank the gods he was still able to properly cast compulsion charms wandlessly or he would be totally helpless in this new and unknown world.
He was able to cast so wandless magic in his past life but still couldn't dare use wandless compulsion charms at that ti. After all mind magic is still mind magic even if it isn't advanced one.
But Harry realized that his magic control and wandless magic significantly improved after he ca to this world. Don't get
wrong. It is not about the world itself. On the contrary, this world has too little magic in the air.
It is nothing but the Symbol of Deathly Hallows on the back of his hand improved his magic control, magic reserve, and wandless casting abilities. His magic replenishnt rate is still low though because of low magic in the air.
So, he followed his father's orders and attended Maester Wolkan's lessons as was expected from him. Except that instead of learning his lessons, he gathered more knowledge about the world and his current situation.
'The North', which he now knew was the largest kingdom in Westeros, was much like Russia.
It was cold, had few people living in it, and had never been conquered by an outside army except for the dragons.
The people in the Kingdom followed the Old Gods (whatever that ant) and thought the Old Gods watched over them with the help of Weirwood trees (whatever that was).
But regardless of his skepticism about gods, he was quite interested in the magical Weirwood tree. And thankfully, there was one such tree in the Castle.
And that was how he got his first magical wand.
A simple 8-inch wand made up of a Weirwood branch with a core of his blood.
It was not very powerful or very accurate. It was by far the weakest wand he had ever used in his life, and he held no delusions that he would be able to cast any of his powerful spells with it. But it was a wand. It worked. And a whole new world of possibilities was open to him because of it.
Now he'll just have to be sure to not cast magic in front of others. People in these dieval tis were superstitious and might try to burn him at a stake. Not that they'll succeed but such a thing would definitely annoy him.
Plus, when he went to the magical tree, he found out that it was releasing a good amount of ambient magic in the atmosphere, and he knew he would be planting more of such trees in his backyard if it was the last thing he did.
His magical reserves beca full first ti after he ca to this world when went near the tree. And after his reserves beca full the Symbol of Deathly Hallows started to absorb magic in from the air rapidly.
He was surprised because the Symbol didn't give any response till this day except appearing and disappearing when he wished.
So, he did so experints. He cast so minor spells and charms and realized that the Symbol stopped to absorb the magic from the air. And when his reserves are full again the Symbol began to absorb magic in again.
This made Harry curious because he was sure the magic absorbed by Symbol had nothing to do with him. It didn't increase or decrease his magic reserve and didn't affect his casting. So where has this magic gone? And why does it need to absorb magic first place? Does sothing change after it becos full? Questions... questions...
'Looks like I need more Weirwood trees for answers.'
