Chapter 219: Golden Orb

Chapter 219: Golden Orb

Purgatory, The Land Where Life and Death Intersect

POV of Doric Bolton

Under normal circumstances, being struck by lightning isn’t sothing you experience every day. Throughout history, only those fortunate enough to survive could describe what it feels like.

Therefore, being struck by lightning is a situation full of uncertainty for many people. And the unknown often brings with it fear.

And Doric couldn’t help but feel the fear that cos with this uncertainty. And, of course, his fear was partly because lightning strikes often result in death.

But when the black lightning struck Doric, he didn’t feel the pain he expected. In fact, it would be more accurate to say he felt nothing at all.

If Doric had closed his eyes, he wouldn’t have even believed he had been struck by lightning.

A mont later, the lightning bolt that struck Doric was entirely absorbed by his body. The dark clouds on the ceiling also dissipated.

As if what Doric had seen and experienced had been an illusion, nothing remained. Nothing changed.

"Congratulations, Harry, you’re my champion again. A Death Prince to be exact." Lady Death said, and Doric woke up from his frozen state when he heard her voice.

"Really. Is that it? I can’t say I’ve noticed any difference, honestly. Shouldn’t I have gained an interface or sothing?" Doric asked in surprise.

"A system. Yes, you just acquired it. But the system is the expression of your power, integrated and interfaced with your soul. This generally takes so ti, especially for people like you, who have acquired their power and system at different tis. It could take a few weeks or a few months. When the system is active, you will also know the destiny line of this world. You should receive notification soon about the status of the system."

And just as Lady Death had said, Doric heard a notification sound before a black, semi-translucent screen with white text appeared before his eyes.

As he turned his head, the screen moved with him, and when Doric reached out to touch it, his hand passed right through it. And he felt nothing.

"The system interface is only visible to you. So, you can use it without worry. You can give commands with your thoughts as well as with your voice. But using your thoughts will be more beneficial for privacy. Also, it’s better not to stare at the system interface for long periods of ti in front of others. Otherwise, people might start to think you’re weird." Lady Death said.

"I see. Thanks," Doric replied.

But the next mont, sothing Doric never expected happened. Lady Terra raised her hand, ford a green sphere in her palm, and then, saying, "Then it’s my turn," she threw the green sphere towards Doric.

The mont the green sphere made contact with Doric’s body, it entered his body and spread throughout him. Unlike the black lightning from before, Doric could feel a warm energy spreading throughout his body.

"Terra, what do you think you’re doing! He’s mine..." Lady Death stood up and angrily shouted at Lady Terra, but before she could finish, Lady Terra interrupted her, speaking calmly.

"Yes, I know, I know. He is your champion. Don’t worry, I have no intention of stealing your champion. Harry, as Doric Bolton, helped my children who were in danger of extinction and gave them a new ho. I want him to care for them and protect them in the future, if possible. That’s why I gave him my blessing. If he has my blessing, my children will follow him more easily."

Lady Death then cald down and sat back down in her chair. anwhile, Lady Terra turned to Doric and continued.

"As I was saying, I would be grateful if you could protect my children in the future, Harry. With the blessing I’ve bestowed upon you, you’ll be able to transform weirwood trees into Heart Trees and form a ntal bond with other creatures. I believe humans call them wargs. You’ll have a few different powers, but you can discover them yourself."

Doric was surprised by Lady Terra’s generosity, and after a mont, recovering, he said, "Thank you. I will try to protect the Children of Forests to the best of my ability."

Lady Terra smiled warmly at Doric’s response. At this point, Lady Death, shaking off her previous somber mood, raised her hand in the air and began to gather energy in her palm, just as Lady Terra had done.

But this energy was neither green nor black as Doric had expected. Unexpectedly, it was gold.

Lady Death thrust the golden orb she had ford in her hand toward Doric, and it floated in the air, arrived in front of Doric, and stopped, still floating.

When Doric saw the orb in Lady Death’s hand, he had a fleeting feeling he’d seen sothing like that before. But when the orb arrived before him, he was certain. It was the sa kind of orb he’d got from the Endless Void. But he’d never seen a golden one before.

Doric lifted his gaze from the orb before him to Lady Death and waited for her explanation.

"A gift from . The White Walkers’ dominance over your magic is a bigger problem than I anticipated. This gift will help you gain the magic of a higher order." Lady Death said.

And without hesitation, Doric extended his hand toward the golden sphere, just as he had done so many tis before in the Endless Void.

At Doric’s touch, the golden orb disappeared, and a book appeared in Doric’s hand. The book’s cover was "Magical Cores and Elental Moons."

After remaining in Doric’s hand for a mont, the book transford into a beam of light, flying to Doric’s body and rging with him. At the sa ti, new information that hadn’t been there before appeared in Doric’s mind.

Now Doric knew how to access higher-level magic, saving him from a long period of study and research. Although based on the information he had in mind, it still seed like it would take so ti to achieve what he wanted, at least he knew what he needed to do.

"Thank you, really. This information will help

a lot." Doric thanked her sincerely.

"You don’t even have to ntion it. You’re my champion now. It’s perfectly normal for

to do this much," Lady Death said, waving her hand as if to say it was no big deal.

And then she continued. "Unless you have any further questions, Harry. We are now slowly coming to the end of this conversation."

"Actually, there’s one more question I want to ask," Doric said.
