Chapter 447: Chapter 447: I’ve Crossed the Line

"Tired, my foot! Can’t you see that I’m upset with you?" Tong Yao glared at him, "It seems like you are usually calm and smart, but why are you now like a block of wood, unable to understand what I’m feeling?"

She has lived two lives and it’s her first ti being in love in both. Even though she’s relatively young and has watched plenty of romance, Idol dramas, and palace dramas, those tricks that work in dramas don’t necessarily work in reality. She found herself imrsed in her own struggles.

And to make things worse, she had t a man who was as stubborn as if his mouth had been sealed with super glue. What could she do to cope?

Behind her calm facade, she was struggling each day, turning things over and over in her mind endlessly.

The more she thought about it, the angrier she got. Tong Yao punched Si Chen in the chest out of frustration, only to be pulled into his arms.

Si Chen’s chin rested on Tong Yao’s shoulder, lightly patting her back to soothe her emotions. After a while, he finally said, "I’m sorry, it’s Because I have to be apart from you for five years, I’ve lost my bearings."

Si Chen swallowed hard before continuing, "Yaoyao, I also struggled all night considering whether to tell you everything and ask you to wait for

for five years. I wanted to speak up, but I was afraid you wouldn’t accept such a selfish , afraid you’d reject . If that were the case, how could I endure the next five years?"

Without her, every day was a tornt, wasn’t it?

Though their life after marriage was mundane, certain feelings had slowly crept into their bone marrow. Any thought of extraction would just cause pain throughout the body.

Si Chen had always been more mature than his peers. His childhood experiences made him calm and composed. He dared to say that even if a gun was pointed at his head, he would control his emotions. But Tong Yao’s every frown and smile could stir his emotions.

In the matter of his mother hurting Tong Yao’s family, Si Chen experienced for the first ti that in so situations it’s impossible to please everyone. He chose a more passive approach to protect their relationship.

However, when it ca to going abroad, he was unable to satisfy everyone. He had no other choice but to leave the country.

In a simple phrase that spoke volus of Si Chen’s consideration, Tong Yao imdiately felt much more at ease. As long as their hearts were united, were there any hurdles they couldn’t overco together?

Now that she knew Si Chen had also been tornted these past few days, Tong Yao couldn’t help but feel sympathy for him and tightened her hold on him.

With tears welling up in her eyes, she said, "I’m not a fool. You’ve left all the property to , so if I don’t hold on to you, where else can I find a man who treats

so well?"

Saying this, Tong Yao felt even more sympathetic towards him.

Although Si Chen grew up with his mother, brother, and sisters, the burden he had to carry from childhood was too much. Where could he find happiness in his life?

This was even more painful than growing up without any family around.

At this thought, Tong Yao held Si Chen even tighter, "Your mother is your mother, and you are you. As long as you don’t hurt

because of her, and as long as you are reasonable, I will never leave you because of her."

On hearing this, Si Chen fell silent for a while before slowly releasing Tong Yao and leading her to sit on a wooden chair nearby. Tong Yao understood that Si Chen probably had sothing to say to her, so she didn’t resist, choosing instead to wait quietly for him to speak.

Though it was nightti, thanks to the moonlight, Tong Yao could clearly see Si Chen’s expression. He seed to be reminiscing about his childhood, his eyes exuding a bone-chilling coldness. It was the first ti Tong Yao had seen Si Chen like this, and she was at a loss to understand what kind of past could make Si Chen look so emotionally desolate.

After about a minute of silence, Si Chen slowly started speaking.

"I know you’ve always been curious about what happened all those years ago," he said.

Tong Yao nodded. She was indeed very curious. However, she would not intentionally pry if Si Chen was reluctant to talk about it. Now that Si Chen wanted to tell her, she patiently listened in hopes that sharing would ease his inner tornt.

"Although I was less than ten years old at that ti, I rember things. After dad injured his leg, he heard that so relatives were coming to visit him and requested for

to accompany them, wanting to take this opportunity to see ," he narrated.

Si Chen’s gaze softened slightly when he talked about his father, but it only lasted for a few seconds before it froze over again.

"I was brought to Kyoto by Si Weimin and her. Everything seed fine on the first day, but dad’s expression started to change by the third day. She and Si Weimin began to be secretive, and soon after, while no one was around, dad jumped from the second floor..."

Si Chen was young at the ti, but he understood quite a bit about the occurrences.

Later, due to the severity of his father’s fall, he couldn’t continue working. After his condition improved slightly, he was discharged from the hospital and went ho to recover.

Initially, after treatnt by a traditional doctor, the father could walk again if he rested for a couple of years - though he wouldn’t be able to carry heavy weights like a normal person would.

Looking at his father lying in a bed, Si Chen made a promise: once he grew up and studied dicine, he would cure the father and allow him to walk like a normal person and go wherever he desired.

She and Si Weimin, who had just had their affair exposed, behaved themselves for a while. But they couldn’t help but resu their illicit relationship. After their scandal was revealed, they cared less about appearances. Sotis, they even flirted openly in front of Si Chen’s father.

His father was often furious and berated them, but it had no effect.

What’s more, the two increasingly grew impatient with taking care of the father. Si Chen was still very young at the ti, although he wanted to take care of his father, a child under ten was barely able to help his father turn in bed.

In the hot sumr, the air in his father’s room was fetid. Si Weimin and FengYing were even more reluctant to enter the room to take care of him. It was only Si Chen who cleaned his father’s body when he ca back from school every day.

This went on for so ti until the father accidentally beca aware of Si Xiaohui’s origin. The past tornt of events and this shock were just too much for the father to bear.

One day before heading off to school, his father called him into his room and told him all about Fengying’s and Si Weimin’s scandal. But Si Chen didn’t understand what it all ant until he ca back from school, only to learn that his father had passed away.

After his father’s death, Si Chen beca more introverted. Later, Si Weimin left with the circus and FengYing took all the remaining compensation money for the father’s injury and handed it over to Si Weimin, one of the reasons why they later struggled to make ends et.

Then, FengYing went even further by venting her anger on him and Boyi. She often beat the two of them and even secretly contacted others with plans to send them away. Thankfully, the village chief intervened and stopped her.

All this ti, FengYing considered him too young to understand. She thought she had managed to keep her deeds a secret while continuing to play the role of a hardworking single mother bringing up three children before the public. Little did she know, Si Chen may have been young, but he was far more sensible than other children of his age.
