Chapter 145: Chapter 145: Most Likely a Tumor

After mulling it over, Tong Yao decided to take the initiative and open up about her concerns. Keeping them bottled up inside like a heavy rock burdening her heart was not healthy, and if the issue wasn’t significant, she didn’t want to end up ill from repressing her feelings.

Before she started talking, Tong Yao’s expression fell. Lowering her head, she murmured guiltily, "I was too impulsive today. With the situation being so urgent and my mind in a blur, I didn’t stop to consider the potential consequences. Looking back, I realize how reckless I was. If that child hadn’t made it, I would have carried the bla, and it might have affected you. You’re at a crucial stage in your career and I need to contemplate thoroughly before making decisions."

After summarizing her thoughts, Tong Yao felt sowhat remorseful. Even though Si Chen hadn’t blad her at all up until that point, she still felt guilty. If her impulsive decision to help had jeopardized Si Chen’s career, she would never forgive herself.

In his previous life, Si Chen had made a na for himself as a top-notch doctor around the world. This signified his profound potential and accomplishnt in the field of dicine. Throughout his life, he was destined to save many lives and make miracles in dicine. He shined brightly like a star, and his radiance shouldn’t be diminished by her recklessness.

"Are you blaming yourself for trying to save soone?" Si Chen quizzically looked at her, a determined light shining in his deep eyes.

"A doctor’s purpose is to cure the sick and save lives. Anyone who would forsake a life out of fear of assuming responsibility isn’t a doctor but a demon in white. As a doctor, one must rember their initial pledge. You were right to act as you did today. You did well and should not feel guilty, I’m proud of you."

Only a cold-blooded person could ignore a life ebbing away right before their eyes. Si Chen didn’t want Tong Yao to beco cold-blooded out of concern for him; he wanted a carefree, warm and sunny Tong Yao.

If the boy hadn’t made it today, it wouldn’t have been Tong Yao’s fault. If a drowning victim is subrged for too long, even a professional doctor wouldn’t have been able to save him; they could only try their best, with no guarantee of reviving the victim.

"..." The words ’I should have known better than to save him’ died on Tong Yao’s lips as she swallowed them back. She blinked and resolutely said, "Ahchen, you didn’t let

down. You are the embodint of righteousness, and I admire you more and more each day."

Once she finished speaking, she leaned in and planted a kiss on Si Chen’s cheek.

Who wouldn’t want affirmation from soone when they are doubting themselves?

Today’s incident didn’t make her regret saving lives; she only worried that her actions might drag Si Chen down, especially considering that he would be saving many more lives in the future.

Si Chen rose and maintained an awkward distance from Tong Yao’s bright gaze, barely concealing a smile that betrayed his current mood.

The composed exterior he displayed hid the ecstasy he inwardly felt.

"Go back and rest. Don’t run around in this heat. The wasp nest there is dangerous; I will figure out a way to deal with it these two days."

"No!" Tong Yao swiftly got up, spreading her hands defensively as she began, "You can’t touch that wasps’ nest! I need it. The sting injuries I got today happened because I wanted to observe the nest up close. It won’t happen again."

In her eyes, what others saw as a danger was a secret weapon she had finally discovered. Si Chen couldn’t just deal with it. It was her unpreparedness that had led to her getting stung by the wasps today. She would not repeat such a mistake next ti.

She was planning to deploy a troop of wasps wearing yellow jackets against the adversaries who dared to bully her. The thought of a swarm of wasps participating in a brawl on her behalf felt incredibly empowering.

Si Chen’s lips twitched upward as he looked at Tong Yao’s protective stance. He frowned slightly, "Are you still going to poke the wasp nest?"

"I am not a child anymore. Why would I poke a wasp nest?" Concerned about Si Chen quietly dealing with the wasp nest, she repeatedly reminded him, "Please hear

out. You must not touch it. I have great uses for it. If you destroy the nest, I might suffer from insomnia, vivid dreams and eventually die of heartache."

Si Chen stared at her swollen face, seriousness in his voice, "One should not underestimate the venom of a wasp; it can be deadly if neglected."

Several patients had been admitted to the hospital due to wasp venom this year. The wasp nest outside the residential compound was left alone because it hadn’t hard anyone in the past years. However, this year it has stung three people so far, and there was no need to let it remain.

Tong Yao kept nodding in acknowledgnt, "I know that, don’t worry! I won’t get stung again. Just leave my wasp nest alone."

"I’ll leave it alone for now." This was the largest concession Si Chen could make. If Tong Yao were to be stung again, he would unequivocally get rid of the nest.

Upon hearing this, Tong Yao nearly lost her cool. She squinted her swollen eyes and warned, "Don’t you dare touch the wasp nest, or else I’ll sleep under it tonight."

There’ll be trouble if anyone dared to touch the wasp nest.

"..." Si Chen sighed in exasperation, "As long as you’re not stung again, I won’t touch it."

Finally, Tong Yao relaxed, "Rest assured, I won’t get stung again."

Her cheeks were painfully swollen, and she didn’t feel like staying there any longer. "I’m going to rest now. You go on with your work. If you have ti, co ho for dinner. Xiaohui and Boyi will be here."

It’s been a while since the brothers had seen each other. Now that Boyi was here, as the eldest, Si Chen should et him. However, if Si Chen was too busy, she had no choice but to understand.

"I’ll see how it goes tonight. You guys start dinner without ; you don’t have to wait." Si Chen couldn’t guarantee whether he would have ti and thus couldn’t impulsively promise her that he would be back.

"Alright! I’ll head back first, then."

It happened to be the doctor’s consultation hour as well. Opening the door, Tong Yao saw a long line outside. Seeing her severely swollen face, the people in line presud she was a patient and started murmuring among themselves.

"What kind of disease does this girl have? Why is her face so swollen?"

"It must be a tumor."

"Such a big tumor at such a young age; it must be incurable!"

Tong Yao smirked as she walked a few steps ahead but couldn’t resist turning back to clarify, "It’s a wasp sting."

If she didn’t clear the air, people might assu she was going to drop dead tomorrow...

"Right there, there’s a huge wasp nest. Both Baodan and I have been stung, and I insist you get rid of it today. I can’t stand the sight of it for another day." Just as Tong Yao arrived at the entrance to the family apartnts, she saw Chen Yani striding purposefully out with Baodan in her arms. Accompanying her were two n and a woman, all carrying tools and ready to get rid of the wasp nest.

She panicked upon hearing this. Regardless of her feud with Chen Yani, she hastened to stop them.

"You aren’t going to poke the wasp nest, are you?"

"Who are you?" Chen Yani didn’t imdiately recognize Tong Yao. On hearing soone trying to prevent her from tampering with the wasp nest, Chen Yani’s expression turned sour.
