Chapter 19: Chapter 19: [Pseudo] Safe House

This safe house has triple-layered flooring to prevent dampness. Although he doesn’t understand the principle behind it, it surely beats sleeping on the ground.

It only took half an hour to set up the safe house.

The overall height of this safe house is only two ters, with a length and width of three ters each, totaling nine square ters.

Half a ter above the floor are three small beds, arranged vertically, aning the head is inward and the feet are outward. Each bed is only one ter wide and two ters long.

There are partitions between the three small beds to prevent privacy breaches, but the ’rooms’ have no doors.

The whole portable safe house has only one door, which serves as the entrance and is located in the center. It’s a single inward-opening door that can be locked with an inset bolt from the inside and cannot be opened from the outside.

The walls at the head of the beds have a ’Cat’s Eye’ that allows you to see outside.

The beds on either side also have a ’Cat’s Eye’ for an outside view.

The door as well has a ’Cat’s Eye’ to see outside.

At the top of the walls are small ventilation holes. The design of these vents is ingenious, ensuring ventilation while keeping rainwater out on rainy days.

Between the three small beds and the door is a three-ter long, one-ter wide corridor. An eave of the sa size covers the corridor.

From the outside, it looks like a two-ter-high, three-ter-long, and three-ter-wide rectangle.

"Why does it look like a public toilet?" Yang Yuan couldn’t help but disdain the design when he saw it.

It resembles those public toilets on city streets from before, those iron public toilets that were unisex.

"Slightly larger than a public toilet, but quite nice."

Zhao Jiayan chuckled, covering her mouth, a look of nostalgia flashing in her beautiful eyes.

She hadn’t slept in a house for more than three years, always living out in the open. Although this portable safe house is very simple, she liked it very much. It just lacks safety; sleeping inside might be a challenge.

Jiang Yiyi stared unblinkingly at this ’little house,’ her eyes filled with a hint of joy. She loved this kind of small house, like playing house.

"Since we’ve bought it, let’s make do with it. It’s better than having nothing, certainly better than those who have to endure the night by a campfire."

Yang Yuan looked at the upgrade data. Indeed, this safe house also has data:

[ (Pseudo) Portable Safe House LV.1: 0/5 (Made up of stacked blocks, useful for shelter from wind and rain, but don’t talk to

about safety) ]

"... Not bad at all."

Yang Yuan grinned.

If it can be upgraded, then there’s no problem.

As for safety?

It will co with the upgrades.

But how does this safe house gain experience?

Perhaps just by living in it? But how much ti for a bit of experience?

I need to test it first. Hopefully, it won’t take too long.

"Alright, you guys go to sleep. I’ll keep watch tonight."

Seeing Zhao Jiayan finishing the roast at, Yang Yuan walked over, took a piece to eat, and said, "If you’re hungry, eat so roast at first. If not, go get so sleep."

"I am full. Yiyi?" Zhao Jiayan asked.

"Yiyi is full too."

"Then go to sleep. Have a good rest tonight; you didn’t sleep well last night."

Yang Yuan took out a pistol and said, "If I can’t hold on, I’ll call you. Oh, let Yiyi sleep in the middle."

"Okay."

The two won went to sleep.

Yang Yuan closed the door, added a few logs to the campfire, and then sat on the ground with his back to the safe house door to pass the ti.

Of course, he would get up periodically to patrol around the safe house, preventing anything from approaching.

An hour passed in the blink of an eye, and the safe house gained two points of experience.

"Two experience points in one hour?"

Yang Yuan’s eyes flashed: "Should it be one point per person per hour? In this way, for house-type items, experience is calculated hourly as well."

He resisted the urge to join them inside to sleep and waited patiently.

"The Power Armor will be ready to upgrade in about two hours too."

By now, it was already past midnight. Last night, with bonfires everywhere, there wasn’t much of a feeling, but tonight there was only one bonfire here, and the nearest others were two to three hundred ters away, so it felt sowhat chilly.

"Monsters appear at night in this world, but they are rare. I shouldn’t be that unlucky, right?"

Yang Yuan felt apprehensive and checked his pistol carefully.

"I should have bought more bullets before. However, it’s not convenient to level up the pistol now; the sound is too loud and might attract monsters."

Ti ticked by second by second.

Approaching another two hours, the safe house’s experience wasn’t full yet, but the Power Armor’s experience was.

[ (Pseudo) Power Armor LV.2: 200/200 (Upgradable) ]

Yang Yuan imdiately stood up, lowered his visor, and chose to upgrade.

Instantly, the experience reset to zero, and a flash of white light passed unseen by others, optimizing the Power Armor from inside to outside, both in its own material and various systems.

This ti took longer than before, but in just two or three seconds, the optimization was finished.

"It seems there’s no longer a stuffy feeling."

Yang Yuan felt a sense of joy, noticing that after this upgrade, even with the visor down, there wasn’t a stuffy feeling.

Moreover, he seed to have gained an external ’vision.’

This vision is like radar, allowing him to ’see’ the environntal model within a hundred ters. Aside from not seeing colors, it lacked other shortcomings.

Additionally, this radar system could scan both the sky and the underground, although underground scanning was temporarily limited to about two ters deep.

These ’visions’ appeared in his mind, yet didn’t seem like his own mind, more like a calculator built into the Power Armor—a sort of external brain. After binding with neurons, especially after two consecutive upgrades, this external brain was becoming sowhat useful.

"Is this the Power Armor’s built-in radar system?"

Yang Yuan felt a surge of joy, testing other functions and discovering that the photon particles emitted from his hands and feet were more powerful, with thrust at least exceeding ten kilograms.

Though this thrust is still modest, it’s much improved compared to when it was first crafted and barely had perceptible thrust.

A few more upgrades, and it might be able to fly.

Also, the power had significantly enhanced, allowing for faster mobility, giving a preliminary feel of Power Armor capabilities.

Lastly, most importantly, the defense was improved. The original plastic exterior now had a tactile feel, likely being able to withstand handgun bullets.

[ (Pseudo) Power Armor LV.3: 0/400 (Now ready for wearing to show off, but better not to fight in it.) ]

Yang Yuan smiled with satisfaction: "Next upgrade in seven hours, so by tomorrow morning, it should be ready for a fight in it."

Suddenly, in the radar vision of the Power Armor, a small whirlwind appeared a hundred ters away, lifting dry leaves and swirling them in the air.

He abruptly looked in that direction, raising his pistol to aim.

However, in the radar vision, that small whirlwind seed to sense a threat and slowly moved away, taking the swirling leaves with it, disappearing beyond the radar’s range.

"What is it?"

Yang Yuan frowned slightly, staring in that direction for a while yet saw no movent.

"Is it a nightti creature? Or just a passing whirlwind?"

He didn’t relax his guard and remained quietly vigilant.

During this ti, he couldn’t tell if it was an illusion, but it seed increasingly hot, with temperatures rising.

"Is the fire too large?"

He retreated a bit, distancing himself from the campfire.

But the heat didn’t abate, and there was even a trend of increasing heat.

"This feeling..."

Suddenly, he seed to think of sothing, his expression changing slightly: "Is the Drought Fiend coming?"

He hurriedly looked toward the safe zone, but it remained quiet, with no signs of movent from the military.
