51: Chapter 51: No Monster Territory
The main reason NPCs have a harder ti establishing control over monster territories is due to the current world situation and the different circumstances the two sides face.
The monsters have a superior overall strength, hence they’re always the attacking side.
However, the NPCs have fewer territories but due to the widespread castles they’ve built, they’re normally hard to breach.
This situation has led to the NPC side being more defensive and less offensive.
Conquering an NPC territory is difficult, but if it can be achieved, it would pose no difficulty for monsters to maintain control over it.
Conversely, NPCs can easily seize monster territories in the beginning with little effort, especially those near their own castles.
However, while the initial conquest might be simple, holding onto the territory is a different and much harder story altogether.
Various types of monsters constantly patrol their territories beyond the city.
If the NPCs ever decide to mobilise, their actions would be swiftly reported to the monster high command.
Given the strength of the monsters, the NPCs, naturally, would face several attacks from the opposition when trying to expand.
How would it matter if the NPCs are relatively stronger?
How would the player’s help make any difference?
Faced with the monstrous numbers of the enemy, facing their human sea tactic, no matter how much preparation the NPCs make in advance, they would most likely end up failing in the end.
So, for these various reasons, even if the monsters outside the city are weak, to avoid actions potentially leading to unavoidable losses, it’s improbable for NPCs to easily march out of the city to seize monster territories.
Zhou Tian initially saw this ntal state of the NPCs, which was why he acted the way he did.
However, his actions, while initially causing no issues, beca risky over ti.
Although monster territories are challenging to occupy, just as monsters try various thods to seize NPC territories.
The principle of both sides vying for territories has been deeply ingrained, and under such circumstances, given even a slight glimr of hope, the NPCs, like Zhou Tian once, would do their best to try to take over the adversary’s territory.
Presently, for Zhou Tian, because he was dealing with the undead monsters in the Skeleton Cave, he had pulled all the Beastn under his command away.
With such a large empty territory outside the NPC city, the NPCs naturally spotted the anomaly in the area.
Under normal circumstances, NPCs would not easily touch the monsters’ territories, but if for a long period of ti, no monsters appeared in that area, those NPCs would eventually take so action.
It’s not that they’d imdiately mobilise in full force just because of any slight anomaly as such, but over ti, if they happen to pull off so minor actions, those NPCs certainly have the guts to do so.
Starting with minor actions, if they don’t et with a strong resistance from the monsters, it could be imagined that at that ti those NPCs would definitely push things further by taking more daring actions.
They would keep trying, until they’re certain they could seize the territory, after which, I believe, those NPCs would really get serious.
If that situation arises, regardless of whether the NPCs could successfully occupy the territory, Zhou Tian would inevitably get slapped with a charge of ‘inaction’, and naturally, he would be in big trouble.
Therefore, despite not having completely solved the issues within the Skeleton Cave, Zhou Tian had no choice but to step in and take care of the problem in the territory outside the NPC city.
Regarding the current issues caused by occupying this territory, the only solution Zhou Tian has is to employ a psychological approach.
While he could use the common approach to bring the NPCs back, based on Zhou Tian’s abilities, not only would this have been unachievable, but he definitely would not have done such a thing.
The consequences of large-scale conflicts outside the NPC city can be seen clearly from the Beast Race monsters.
With Zhou Tian needing his soldiers still left for many more battles to co, not to ntion the cost of such a move itself, it’s evident he would not go for it.
Since he could not resort to military action, Zhou Tian had to scare those NPCs into retreating.
The NPCs understand the difficulty of occupying a Monster Territory, and they would certainly not let go of the spoils falling into their mouths.
But if they suspect that there’s ‘poison’ in this spoils, even if it’s hung right before their eyes, I’d bet those NPCs would be more cautious about proceeding!
Zhou Tian had his mind made up.
After exiting the Skeleton Cave, he imdiately started his operation against the NPCs.
Normally, given Zhou Tian’s temperant, he would’ve taught those NPCs a harsh lesson.
But, after the earlier combat, he had lost a major part of his forces.
As such, while he couldn’t make no movent at all, he had no choice but to tread more carefully during the operation.
After overturning most of his original plan, Zhou Tian cautiously headed towards the territory occupied by him.
“These damn guys better not have considered my territory as their own!
If that’s the case, then I might need to teach them a little lesson today.
It’s good timing too, as I’m currently short on troops.
Earning more rit would help
replenish my forces faster.
The Skeleton cave is depleting my troops every day.
If I don’t prepare enough, I might just end up becoming a commander without troops,” Zhou Tian muttered to himself in frustration.
Leading his small group of Beastman warriors, Zhou Tian directly arrived at his territory outside the NPC city.
“These guys are too bold.
Even though I haven’t made any moves for a long ti, they’re disregarding
far too much.
Today, I’ll have to teach them a lesson, or else won’t they all end up shitting and peeing on my head in the future?” To his nerve-racking surprise, upon arrival at his territory outside the NPC city, Zhou Tian was t with a scene that thoroughly infuriated him.
Perhaps, due to Zhou Tian’s long absence, the NPCs eventually deed that he had given up on this territory.
After initial suspicion, upon confirming there really were no monsters in this territory, the NPCs drastically dispatched a party to investigate the situation.
Maybe the NPCs might not have acted like that initially!
However, after a long period of comparative stability in their investigation and seeing that the territory indeed didn’t have any monsters at all, after letting their guard down, the NPCs started preparations for building a castle with complete abandon.
As a result, by the ti Zhou Tian and his Beastn returned, they encountered scattered NPCs all over the place preparing for castle construction.
Upon witnessing this situation, Zhou Tian acted imdiately.
Firstly, if the NPCs start building a castle, he would surely receive punishnt, so Zhou Tian had to stop them.
Secondly, the actions of the NPCs were no doubt a form of disregard towards Zhou Tian.
Feeling insulted, Zhou Tian couldn’t sit idly by.
Under such circumstances, regardless of the reasons, Zhou Tian naturally had to teach those NPCs a lesson.
