Chapter 22

Taking Her to School

Qin Qing stared blankly at the tall boy standing in front of her until he leaned closer, snapping her back to reality. Instinctively, she took half a step back.

The movent was subtle, but being so close, it was hard not to notice.

Wen Yufeng’s gaze swept over her face with a hint of amusent, then he reached out and took the chalkboard eraser from her hand.

“Stand back,” he said, his deep voice vibrating softly in her ear.

Qin Qing let out a small “Ah” and obediently took a step back. After pausing for a mont, she hesitated and then took a few more steps back.

Wen Yufeng glanced at her, his dark eyes seemingly holding a trace of a smile, though it quickly faded. He turned around and began erasing the blackboard.

Qin Qing stood off to the side, lost in thought.

——

Having long legs really is great.

She frowned, glancing down at her own slender legs.

After staring for a few seconds, Qin Qing sighed deeply.

She figured that in this lifeti, she was never going to be associated with the words “long legs.”

Qin Qing was so engrossed in her thoughts that she didn’t even notice when the physics teacher walked into the classroom and approached her.

It wasn’t until Shen Liang suddenly spoke with a smile—

“Well, Wen Yufeng, I didn’t know you could erase the blackboard. I always thought you wouldn’t be on your class’s duty roster.”

Qin Qing was startled by the sudden voice beside her. She instinctively stepped to the side, then quickly bowed her head to Shen Liang. “Hello, teacher.”

In a corner of the classroom, the hygiene monitor fell silent upon hearing Shen Liang’s words.

…Wen Yufeng definitely wasn’t on the duty roster. He hadn’t dared to assign him.

As for Shen Liang, he chuckled in response to the soft voice of the girl beside him.

“Qin Qing, what are you standing here for, then?”

Qin Qing was at a loss for words.

She really didn’t know what to say… Should she tell him that she was the one supposed to be erasing the blackboard and that Wen Yufeng was just helping out?

Before Qin Qing could figure out what to say, Wen Yufeng finished erasing the blackboard. The tall boy casually walked over, lazily glancing in her direction before tossing the eraser aside.

“I’m on duty; she’s supervising,” he said, a slight smirk tugging at his lips. His dark, starry eyes settled on Qin Qing.

“Isn’t that right, little classmate?”

“…”

Qin Qing’s cheeks turned slightly red, her clear and bright eyes staring at Wen Yufeng without blinking.

Shen Liang raised an eyebrow at this, “Soone who can actually supervise your work?” He then glanced at Qin Qing with a playful smile, “It seems our ‘little prodigy’ is not to be underestimated.”

“…”

Qin Qing felt increasingly uneasy under Shen Liang’s seemingly aningful gaze. She gave him a small nod, then glanced at Wen Yufeng before turning and leaving the classroom.

Watching her slightly flustered retreating figure, Wen Yufeng raised an eyebrow, casting a aningful glance at the door. Then, he turned to Shen Liang.

“Teacher Shen, I’ll head out now.”

Shen Liang, smiling kindly, nodded.

Wen Yufeng walked out of the classroom. Once outside, he glanced around and soon spotted Qin Qing standing by the wall.

When she saw him, her eyes flashed with obvious panic, but she quickly composed herself. With her face slightly tense, she seriously watched as the boy walked up to her.

Only when Wen Yufeng stopped in front of her did she lower her eyes slightly and say, “I’m sorry, Wen Xuezhang. Please don’t take what I said that night to heart… I misunderstood you, and I apologize.”

“…”

Wen Yufeng initially didn’t respond, his dark eyes fixed intensely on her. It wasn’t until Qin Qing, confused by the lack of response, raised her eyes to look at him that he let out a soft laugh and averted his gaze.

“What I’m more curious about,” he said after a mont of quiet laughter, his eyes shining as they settled on her face, “…is what exactly you misunderstood about ?”

Qin Qing felt troubled by the question. After hesitating for a long ti, she decided to be honest and straightforward about her mistake. However, even though she was determined, her voice was clearly lacking confidence.

——

“Because of so one-sided things I heard, without verifying them, I labeled your kindness as ‘frivolous’; I jumped to conclusions based on my assumptions and said so very harsh things to you, betraying your good intentions…”

As she stood there, seriously listing her “cris” with a small, solemn face, like she was giving a report, Wen Yufeng found it hard to suppress his amusent. He chuckled softly and reached out to gently ruffle the hair on her forehead.

Qin Qing, who had been frowning and reflecting on her mistakes, was stunned by the sudden gesture, her bright almond eyes widening in surprise.

She stared blankly at Wen Yufeng, who was now struggling to hold back his laughter.

The boy’s usually rebellious and sharp features seed to soften, and the typically unsettling darkness in his eyes now shimred with a captivating light.

Qin Qing had always known that this boy was exceptionally good-looking, but standing there in the hallway, seeing the sunlight filtering through the windows and casting a golden glow over him as he smiled brighter than the light itself…

For the first ti in her life, Qin Qing beca acutely aware of her own heartbeat, which was growing louder and more intense.

…It was as if sothing within her was desperately trying to break free, waiting for the day it would finally erge.

——

It might be painful, but for so reason, Qin Qing found herself curiously yearning for it.

Lost in thought, she didn’t notice when Wen Yufeng’s gaze returned to her, a smile playing on his lips.

“So, how do you plan to make it up to ?”

“Huh?”

Qin Qing blinked, still in a daze, and looked up at him in confusion.

“What?” Wen Yufeng raised an eyebrow. “Were you just planning on offering a simple apology that lacks sincerity?”

“…”

Qin Qing felt her cheeks grow warr. She slowly nodded but then quickly added, as if sothing had occurred to her, “Is there sothing you want? Or sothing I can do for you? I’ll do my best!”

Wen Yufeng gave her a deep look. After a mont, he spoke softly, “There are two things.”

Perhaps because his expression was so enigmatic, Qin Qing blinked in curiosity and asked, “What two things?”

“First, stop calling

‘Xuezhang’ or ‘classmate’—and I hope this is the last ti I have to stress that.”

He raised one long, slender finger in front of her, waving it slightly.

“…”

His hands were so long and beautiful—a genetic advantage she could only dream of…

After staring at his hand for a few seconds, Qin Qing furrowed her brows, feeling a bit dejected, and nodded. “And the second?”

“…”

Wen Yufeng’s eyes narrowed slightly. After a few seconds, his lips curled into a smile.

——

“Starting tomorrow morning, how about you give

a ride to school?”

“…What??”
