Chapter 901: Law
"I’m sorry for my behavior, Mr. Romulus, and also... thank you for the help," Aura Nova said sincerely as she offered her apology.
Everyone around her appeared montarily confused. They couldn’t quite understand why Aura Nova was both apologizing to the spirit and thanking him at the sa ti. To them, the two actions seed contradictory, yet her tone carried nothing but genuine respect.
"It’s fine, and you’re welco," Romulus replied. His voice was regal and authoritative, imbued with the natural dominance of a higher existence, yet there was a faint softness beneath it. Although he was undeniably prideful, Romulus possessed a subtle fondness for beautiful and capable won, Aura Nova included. That fondness, however restrained, was the sole reason he had intervened earlier to save her.
That said, his thoughts never strayed into anything inappropriate. He wasn’t sexually attracted to any of them, nor did he view them in such a manner. To him, they were simply far too weak, beings of a lower standing in Existence, Law, Order, and Reality itself, to warrant such considerations.
"Isn’t this a bit confusing?" Altheria asked, her brows furrowing slightly.
"How so?" Veronica responded, genuinely curious.
Before Altheria could explain, Kingsley spoke instead. "If Romulus is also a spirit," he said thoughtfully, "how did the Spirit King lose to him?" His question was direct, devoid of malice, and filled with honest confusion.
Altheria nodded imdiately. That was precisely what she had been wondering as well. No matter how she tried to rationalize it, she couldn’t understand how one spirit could utterly overwhelm another that ruled over all spirits.
Several gazes shifted toward Anthony. He sighed softly, already tired at the thought of explaining. Sotis, it was easier to simply call Romulus a spirit and leave it at that.
"Romulus cos from a higher plane than the Acarnis Galaxy," Anthony said calmly. "That’s probably why."
Although his explanation wasn’t entirely accurate, it wasn’t false either.
Shock rippled across everyone’s faces. They weren’t unfamiliar with the concept of higher planes or other galaxies; such knowledge was common among elites. However, knowing of their existence and actually interacting with them were two very different things. The Divinora Galaxy had only recently achieved the feat of transcending its own limits, and now they were hearing that Anthony had summoned a being from an even higher plane of existence.
Aura Nova, however, wasn’t surprised. She had t the Spirit King before and had even attempted to analyze him. At the ti, her eyes had bled profusely, but they hadn’t exploded, and she had managed to glean a minuscule fragnt of information. Comparing that experience to what had just occurred, she could easily conclude that Romulus was not a being of the Acarnis Galaxy. The Spirit King and other ancient existences already represented the ceiling of th Acarnis galaxy.
"Romulus, are you here for the ran in this Tiline?" Vega asked cheerfully, her curiosity completely unrestrained.
Romulus nodded. "I am. I have access to places like this, but I’ve never bothered visiting," he said calmly. "Since you and Anthony are here, I figured I might as well participate."
Although he could see everything that happened through Anthony’s soul, he had decided to manifest personally instead.
"I see... so that’s what you ant by having your own ways," Aaaninja said from the side, his eyes shifting toward Anthony. "You were planning to ask your summoned spirit for the coordinates," he added, as though he had uncovered the truth.
Anthony raised an eyebrow before smiling faintly and shaking his head. Truthfully, he hadn’t even considered the possibility that Romulus might possess information on various Tilines, including the Ran Singularity Tiline.
Aaaninja, however, took Anthony’s gesture and smile as confirmation and said nothing further. Only Lucian, standing nearby, knew just how incorrect that assumption was.
Broth-ben continued watching silently from the side. This wasn’t the first group he had guided through the Nodara Planet. So, he understood that tourists needed monts to process what they had seen and heard before continuing their journey. As such, he simply walked beside them quietly, resembling a mute embodint of broth itself.
Along the way, other tourist guides, mbers of various native races of the Nodara Planet, could be seen leading foreign visitors of their own, each group imrsed in their own wonder.
’The Nodara Planet must be filled with hidden experts,’ Kingsley thought as he sensed a powerful presence brush faintly against his perception. His reasoning was simple: the foreigners within the Nodara planet had to possess an outrageous amount of power themselves to cross into another tiline, or at least use a powerful artifact or ability like Aura Nova’s.
’If possible, I’d like to challenge one of them,’ he mused internally, ’though I doubt the laws of this planet would allow it.’
As soone deeply attuned to battle and martial arts, Kingsley could feel it clearly. The Laws governing the Nodara Planet, and the Ran Singularity Tiline as a whole, actively suppressed physical combat.
’One can’t even throw a punch,’ he realized.
To test it, he made a casual motion as though to punch Broth-ben. Instantly, an invisible resistance stopped him, the Law itself rejecting the action.
’Only cooking or verbal expression can be used to fight,’ he concluded, shaking his head slightly. He had no experience in cooking, and he wasn’t particularly gifted with words either.
’I wonder... could Anthony’s Mirror Dinsion bypass these Laws?’ His thoughts continued to wander.
Eventually, Kingsley directed his curiosity outward. "I tried punching soone," he said calmly to Broth-ben, "but it seems the Laws of your Planet and Tiline don’t allow that. How does one go about this?"
Broth-ben wasn’t surprised in the slightest. Foreigners attempting physical violence was an incredibly common occurrence. In fact, it was almost expected.
"You an bypassing the Laws of the Tiline and Planet?" Broth-ben asked to confirm.
Kingsley nodded.
"It is possible," Broth-ben explained patiently. "All one needs is an absurdly high mastery over Savor Energy. Once you reach that level, the Tiline itself will bend its rules for you. However," he added, "as a foreigner, I doubt you possess the patience for it. It takes millennia to reach such mastery, and no outsider would willingly waste that much ti."
Kingsley fell silent, sinking back into thought. Even if soone reached that level of Savor mastery, it would be aningless for combat. After all, a person who hadn’t thrown a punch for thousands of years wouldn’t suddenly be able to engage in physical violence.
By that point, they would have beco a pacifist in every sense of the word.
