Capítulo 1833: Chapter 1832: The Candidates and the Second Ga

The maidens in the sky were already descending onto the deck, and Shard, who had jumped off the deck, was heading towards the doctor. On the deck, the beautiful blonde witch stood with one hand on her hip, using the other to fling her long hair to the side, letting it flutter in the night breeze. She then asked rather bluntly:

“Audrey, long ti no see… What is your relationship with Shard?”

Her courtesy was brief.

Ciris, behind her, shook her head at the Grand Witch of “Knowledge and Wisdom” with a half-smile, half-helpless expression. anwhile, the Misses Edwards asked rather bluntly:

“Vanessa, what is your relationship with Shard? Speaking of which, we are all sisters of the Council, you shouldn’t keep hiding secrets from the others, should you?”

Having experienced the “jokes” at the banquet specially arranged and planned by Miss Galina, this Grand Witch was no longer afraid of other inquiries. Last ti, she was caught off guard by that shaless Duchess’s sneak attack, but now she was prepared, so how could she be caught off guard:

“You haven’t hidden anything from , just like I haven’t hidden anything from you, right?”

Under gan and Audrey’s combined gaze, Miss Benanis blinked, and with a hint from Miss Sylvia nearby, she understood that Audrey Edwards already knew all the secrets:

“Of course, we are sisters of the Council. So, regarding Shard’s matters, everyone should keep it well-secret.”

Thus, two hands clasped together, and then Miss Sylvia’s hand also reached over, linking with the other two. The witches’ handshake was an ancient etiquette from the Fifth Generation, not palm to palm, but thumb and pinky interlocked. Because, besides the three witches, there was Spirit Audrey’s hand as well, making the scene quite peculiar.

Ciris, Tifa, and Margaret watched from behind the trio, all quite satisfied with the spectacle:

“The Council is more united.”

As for Shard, he was already standing together with the blue-eyed psychiatrist on the gradually calm lake surface.

“Very smooth.”

The doctor smiled, tossing the black cubus that had sealed Gratoni Edwards and Pride Edwards to Shard.

“A new skill? Sealing Skill?”

“More or less, but it’s not easy to seal entities stronger than myself. This ti, it was thanks to this friend’s illusion technique that confused that dragon.”

He gestured towards a nearby bottle, inside which the blue giant spirit, though not manifesting physically, had its colored mist swirling faster. It didn’t appear so unwilling to help the doctor.

They paused their conversation, turning their gaze away from the cruiser towards the mist-shrouded islands. Regardless of the battle’s outco, that island showed no signs of any anomaly.

But now, at the edge of the dense fog, a figure erged from the island’s direction. This was not Laplace Klein Howard, but a man composed entirely of writhing tentacles.

According to Mr. Nicholas Green the Ghoul, he should be one of the second-generation Edwards siblings, the younger brother Sloss Edwards, who, in his old age, fearing death, was infused with the power of an evil object.

Shard had encountered him before, and seeing him voluntarily appear now, he imdiately prepared for further combat.

But Sloss Edwards was only there to convey his father’s words:

“Please return my son and daughter to .”

He stood at the mist’s edge, addressing the two n under the moon:

“In exchange, you may learn who the second candidate for the Chosen of Space is.”

Shard slightly furrowed his brow, glancing at the doctor, who seed indifferent:

“Consider it your spoils of war; you may dispose of them as you wish. But don’t worry; the demon giving them power has already been… sealed by . They won’t be able to muster any fighting force for so ti… Chosen of Space, what is that?”

After so thought, Shard bent down to place the black cubus on the lake surface. Underwater tentacles swiftly scooped it into the depths, handing it to the tentacle at Sloss’s feet:

“Father says the second candidate is connected to my sister and the man she chose. Our family’s candidates are limited to this matter, no longer concerning other candidates further down the line.”

Sloss Edwards’s sister was the spirit currently in the state, Laster Edwards.

Shard nodded; the intriguing bond and fate between Laster Edwards and Durut Giles already pointed to their potential future encounters. However, Laster Edwards as an individual was connected to both the first and second candidates, speaking volus for the Edwards family’s eldest daughter, born from that Diviner’s line.

Just a few minutes before Shard and the doctor conversed with Sloss Edwards on the lake, a seventeen-year-old brown-haired girl stepped off a train car at Green Lake City Train Station on the north shore of Green Lake. She stretched unladylike:

“Next ti, take the airship; train travel is so boring.”

“I find occasional train travel interesting. When I was your age, we didn’t have such convenient transportation.”

The librarian of Saint Byrons smiled as she stepped from the car behind her. This train not only carried the Sun Church team of Iluna’s entourage from the Papacy but also professors from Saint Byrons Integrated Academy, who ca along for the ride.

Iluna was indifferent to Miss Danester’s views as she stood on the platform, with scorching white steam mist constantly spewing from beneath the train, making the air moist.

They looked up together towards the night sky in the south:

“Tonight seems quite lively.”

The gigantic black cube stood under the southern starry sky. Even though they could only see a third of it from their current angle, Iluna and Miss Danester could feel its soul-corrupting power at a re glance.

“What’s going on?”

The Circle Sorcerers, newly arrived in the city, t with the local church’s welcoming team, then quickly made contact with the church to confirm what had happened.

However, Iluna was not much interested in this matter. She bid farewell to Miss Danester and her group but didn’t return to the church with the Sun Church’s team. Instead, she stated her wish to walk alone in the city and see it under the night:

“I want to understand this place from my own perspective. As for what’s happening in the south, I suppose I don’t have to involve myself in every matter, right?”

The request seed odd, but Iluna was the Chosen One, and she held such privilege. Thus, her luggage was taken ahead, and the seventeen-year-old girl waved goodbye to her companions at the train station entrance.

The gas streetlights on the side of the train station illuminated Iluna’s delicate profile. Her shadow fell onto the long stone-bricked pavent as she looked towards the city, ancient and worn, neither as cozy as her hotown nor as prosperous as Tobesk City where she worked.

Taking a deep breath, the night mist was full of the unique stench of urban pollution, yet not as pure as Tobesk, the “City of Steam.” Inspiration felt the oppressive and heavy atmosphere swirling in the sky, the taste of fear and anxiety entrenched in the streets and alleys.

Iluna Beath admitted that she didn’t like it here; she never loved everything in this world equally; she only liked the things she liked.

Sighing, she addressed the gold-haired man in a white robe who appeared beside her, unnoticed:

“Can the second ga start now?”

The man stepped out from the shadow into the glow of the gas streetlights; his attire clashed with both the era and the current street scenery, holding a rolled parchnt scroll, simple yet exuding mystery, the hem of his robe nearly touched the ground.

He stared at Iluna with an enigmatic expression that suggested he’d speak only partially:

“Good evening, Chosen Hero.”

“Good evening, If. Honestly, I initially thought you’d appear sooner.”

Despite facing this Unclassified Level Relic, Iluna maintained a relaxed tone.

“So, are you ready?”

The seventeen-year-old smiled slightly, took a few steps forward into the streetlight, amid the faint sounds of insects bumping against the lamp cover, she expressed her long-prepared words:

“Let’s begin. Show

what exactly you want to tell .”

“I must remind you, this is the second of three gas.”

The gold-haired man in the white robe nodded under the streetlight at the train station entrance, in this ancient yet worn-out city, unrolled the parchnt scroll.

Though it was late, the entrance was not devoid of others, yet nobody noticed this odd occurrence under the streetlight. Gold lines in the air between them, outlined in beautiful Draleon script the content being read:

[You are Iluna Alia Beath, the Chosen Hero, Chosen of Balance, the protagonist of the stage.]

[On the 10th of the Rain-Prayer Moon, you completed half a week of training at the Church, took a train to Green Lake City, joining a task investigating the Chosen of Space.]

[You temporarily bid farewell to your companions under the night, opting to walk in the city alone, so what to do now?]

[1. Investigate the anomalies in the south alone; maybe I can solve this myself.]

[2. Go to the Green Lake Inn; I know soone I miss is there.]

[3. Walk around the city as planned; with my luck, maybe I’ll encounter a Relic.]

[4. It’s late, I should return to rest, taking a carriage maybe a good idea.]

[5. Perhaps there are other thoughts.]

The gold script floating before her illuminated Iluna’s face; it was no brighter than the dirty glow within the gas lamp’s cover, leaving most of her face still in shadow.

Iluna noticed that this “If Ga” was more complex than last ti; last ti there weren’t options, it was purely up to her.

No need to think, Iluna Beath already knew what she wanted to do:

“I have my ideas. Go back to the train station, use Illusion Technique to disguise my face, then buy a train ticket to Huntington City, United Kingdom of Carsonrick. I’ve checked the train schedule; there’s a train in half an hour. Since it’s a ga, then be bold, why must I stay here?”
