“When you get the Prismatic Shard, just take it to the forge in the desert and offer it there,” Leon replied, casually cutting down a bat that swooped in.

“Prismatic Shards are so rare. It’s not like you can just pick one up anyti,” Abigail said, stabbing her sword through a Stone Golem’s head. She twisted the blade with deliberate force, shattering the creature’s skull in a show of ruthless precision.

“If I get extra Prismatic Shards in the future, I can set one aside for you. But you’ll still have to pay for it. Even brothers keep their accounts straight, so start saving up,” Leon said as he pulled Abigail out of the way of a Stone Golem that lunged forward at sudden speed.

“How much are we talking? Tell

the price, and I’ll see if I have enough saved right now,” Abigail asked, blocking a bat that had flown up from behind a Stone Golem.

“Friend discount, 3,000G,” Leon replied, slicing the bat mid-sentence.

“That’s expensive… but I think I can scrape together enough,” Abigail said, skewering another Stone Golem.

“Looks like your little stash is pretty healthy,” Leon joked, kicking one Stone Golem aside and cutting another clean in half.

“Of course. My dad pays

wages for helping out at ho,” Abigail said, sidestepping a Stone Golem’s charge. She raised her sword to strike, but Leon cut it down before she could.

“Hey! You stole my kill!”

“You think this is a ga? The sooner we clear these monsters, the sooner we can go deeper. Once we’ve unlocked the elevator to level thirty-five, we’re heading back,” Leon said dryly.

He glanced around, saw that most of the Stone Golems were already dealt with, took a deep breath, and charged the remaining few. He cut them down one after another as if slicing through lons.

“Done.”

When the last Stone Golem fell, a staircase appeared where its body vanished. That ant this floor was completely cleared.

Long battles have made you stronger. Your Combat Level has increased by one.

In combat, you’ve learned that injuries can sap your fighting strength. You have mastered the recipe for Life Potion, allowing you to heal critical wounds.

You have received the God of War’s blessing. Your physical abilities have improved.

Life Potion (Dish): Completely heals all injuries. Requires: Red Mushroom ×1, Purple Mushroom ×1, Morel ×1, Chanterelle ×1.

Leon hadn’t expected this fight to level him up, let alone unlock a Life Potion. And unlike in the ga, this one could completely heal any injury—a huge upgrade in effect.

The ingredients were a bit tricky, though. Leon hadn’t even seen a Red or Purple Mushroom yet. He had once found a Chanterelle, but that had gone into a chicken soup.

Still, his farm’s mushroom cave should eventually yield them. All he had to do was wait—and mining trips might also turn up Red and Purple Mushrooms. He’d just have to keep an eye out.

After scanning the newly unlocked recipe, Leon started collecting the monsters’ loot. He didn’t hold back from complinting Abigail’s performance.

“You did well this ti. Not only are your strikes getting sharper, but you also blocked a monster’s attack with your blade. Seems your sword practice is paying off.”

“It’s probably because these monsters aren’t as strong as I imagined. I always thought monsters were all terrifying powerhouses,” Abigail said smugly.

“That’s because these are just ordinary monsters,” Leon reminded her. “From what I know, this abandoned mine goes down 120 floors. The deeper you go, the stronger they get. Don’t co wandering down here alone. Especially don’t ss with the elevator. Above floor forty, you’ll be fine. Below that… it’s a different story.”

“Oh.” Abigail nodded obediently, then eyed the loot Leon was gathering. “Can I have a Crystal Orb? I want to keep one.”

“Sure,” Leon said, tossing her one from a Stone Golem’s drop. It was just a Crystal Orb—nothing worth fussing over. He’d even given away athysts before.

“Thanks.” Abigail cradled the rough, cloudy orb and asked, “Think I could get a Prismatic Shard from this?”

“In your dreams,” Leon said bluntly. The orb he’d given her was a regular Crystal Orb, which only yielded common minerals. If she wanted a Prismatic Shard, she’d need an Infinity Crystal Orb at least.

Abigail didn’t seem bothered, happily holding the orb. Since she lacked Leon’s convenient storage ability, the large sphere was awkward to carry.

Seeing that, Leon took it back. “I’ll hold onto it for you. I’ll give it back when we get ho.”

The mont the words left his mouth, he froze. That sounded like sothing a married man would say to his kid about keeping their red-envelope money.

Abigail didn’t notice. She was already heading down the stairs, fired up from the fight. Even without Leon leading, she had the courage to explore the next floor.

By the ti Leon followed, she was crouched near the stairs, sword raised in both hands.

“…What are you doing?” Leon sighed. “Why are you trying to be tough? Did you forget these floors are pitch black?”

He lit a torch, and the light imdiately brightened the surroundings. Abigail stepped closer to him. “I forgot.”

“You’re afraid of the dark?” Leon asked, surprised by her change in deanor.

“Of course not. I’ve practiced swordsmanship in the cetery at night,” she said stubbornly.

“That’s because there’s moonlight and streetlamps,” Leon said. He’d been to Pelican Town at night; under a clear sky, the moonlight was as bright as streetlights.

“Go dig your own ore,” Abigail snapped, snatching the torch from his hand. “I’ll light the way. Now go play miner.”
