386: Chapter 375: The Funeral Date
After lunch, it was past two in the afternoon, and Li Yueyue and Liu Ran, having no classes in the afternoon, clamored to go see Li Shishi.
Song Yun had no choice but to drop the two off at Li Shishi’s current office location.
Since he had to attend Lei Long’s funeral tomorrow, he had a lot of arrangents to make, so after dropping them off, he went to headquarters.
Actually, once Song Yun got to the office, he realized his presence didn’t matter at all.
The headquarters had already ford its own chain of command; everyone knew exactly what they were supposed to do.
His appearance didn’t change what needed to be done today.
So, Song Yun ended up being ignored.
Except for Li Tang, who would idle away the ti chatting if he had nothing better to do, even Hua Manlou was acting serious, starting a thorough inspection of the people in headquarters.
“Ah, I’ve been swamped with things lately,” Song Yun said lancholically as he lit a cigarette.
“Unlike you, loafing around all day, just picking up your wife from work and dropping her off, then hanging around the headquarters telling stories.”
“Boss, you’re being too harsh,” Li Tang complained.
“I keep an eye on our assets all day, and I even have to reset an array every now and then.”
“And then what?
Pick up your wife from work, go ho to eat, exercise a little, and take her to work the next day?” Song Yun mocked, “Co on, I’ve been watching you since we were kids.
I know exactly what you’re up to.”
“That’s why I said we shouldn’t chat,” Li Tang grumbled discontentedly.
“I’m the one who’s truly being ignored,” Song Yun remarked indifferently, supporting his chin.
“Aside from you coming over to chat, everyone else is busy.
Just thinking about tomorrow gives
a headache.
No idea who’s taking charge at Lei Long’s side.
Hopefully, it’s a stranger; it would be tougher to make a move otherwise.”
“Heh, I heard about that,” Li Tang chuckled mischievously, as though reveling in the chaos.
“The new gang leader over there is going to be Lei Long’s son, and there’s also soone from down south coming up to support him.
Whether it’s to wrest power or assist him, that’s up to interpretation.”
“I don’t care who it is, as long as they stay put,” Song Yun said.
After chatting with Li Tang all afternoon, which led Song Yun to drink tea the whole ti, he lost all appetite for dinner when he got ho and just greeted the ladies before he retired to his bedroom.
Ultimately, the day of Lei Long’s funeral arrived.
Since it was soone else’s funeral, he couldn’t just wear a tank top and shorts with flip-flops; he had to dress formally.
So, Song Yun took out a black suit from his closet that he hadn’t worn in years.
After trying it on and moving around, he found it still fit decently.
If sothing went wrong, he could still make a quick escape.
While eating breakfast, Black Flood Dragon and ng Ku walked in.
Black Flood Dragon plopped down next to Song Yun and said, “I’ve brought three carloads of disciples.
We should be secure.”
“Good, that’s fine.
Nothing’s more important than life itself,” Song Yun responded.
“Have you two eaten?
If not, grab sothing here.”
Unabashed, Black Flood Dragon imdiately began wolfing down a sandwich from the table, while ng Ku chuckled and ntioned, “I’ve already eaten at ho.”
“My sister really troubles you,” Xiao Qing said graciously as she approached.
She had learned from Song Yun that Xiao Qian hadn’t returned to Yu Hang but had stayed with ng Ku.
“No trouble at all.
Xiao Qian is a good girl,” ng Ku replied with a naive grin as he scratched the back of his head.
“Good, I hope you treat her well.
Although Xiao Qian can be a bit wild, she’s fundantally kind-hearted,” Xiao Qing smiled.
“If you two really end up together, I’d be very happy as her sister.”
“Heh, that’s fine, but I don’t know whether I should call you sister or sister-in-law in the future,” ng Ku said, always hitting the nail on the head despite usually being quiet.
As expected, Xiao Qing’s face flushed at his comnt and she hesitated before saying, “Of course, you should call
sister.
Why would you call
sister-in-law for no reason?”
ng Ku just grinned and said nothing more.
After finishing the al, they didn’t rush to leave.
The burial from Fierce Tiger’s notice wasn’t until ten in the morning.
It was no use going too early; it could even be seen as deaning.
Song Yun was no longer the nobody he once was.
With his manpower and assets, he could easily displace Fierce Tiger and take his place among the top three organizations in the area.
But that wasn’t what Song Yun wanted.
Everyone knew that making a fortune in silence was the golden rule.
Why make unnecessary appearances and risk drawing unwanted attention that could topple you overnight?
As Song Yun sipped his tea, casually watching TV, he asked, “By the way, what are Zhao Yan and the others up to?”
“They’re planning responses to potential upcoming events,” ng Ku said, biting into an apple.
“Zhao Yan pulled an all-nighter last night, made a list of possible scenarios, and gathered everyone this morning to figure out how to handle them.”
“I think we should establish a think tank specifically for ergency situations,” Song Yun suggested.
At that, Black Flood Dragon burst into laughter, nearly spitting out his tea.
“Boss, are you even aware of what goes on?
We’ve had a think tank for a while now.
They handle ergencies and plot the future courses for headquarters.”
Song Yun felt almost mortified.
He had turned into a hands-off leader, delegating nearly everything except major decisions to Zhao Yan.
“Alright, enough chat.
It’s about ti we headed out,” Song Yun snapped irritably, annoyed at being ridiculed.
After giving instructions for the won to be watchful, Song Yun led the way out of the villa with Black Flood Dragon and ng Ku following.
Just outside, they saw four SUVs lined up.
When they saw Song Yun, the disciples scrambled out of the vehicles and bowed, shouting, “Hello Brother Song.”
“Okay,” Song Yun nodded briefly before climbing into the lead vehicle.
It wasn’t that he ant to be cold to his subordinates, but it was necessary.
If he appeared too approachable, it would erode their respect for him, which could jeopardize his leadership.
