Chapter 767: Chapter 0769: Revocation of Duties

Nangong Sanli took the ring over and examined it under the sunlight, noticing nothing peculiar.

He slipped the ring on his index finger, bent his finger slightly, and his fingertip could touch sothing hard. He hesitated for a mont and then pressed it.

Just as he pressed it, the originally unremarkable ring suddenly produced a circle of blades, shining with a sinister cold light in the sunlight. Upon closer inspection, there was a pale green tint that had been soaked in, flashing an unsettling sheen—presumably, this was the deadly poison the man had ntioned.

"Although this little thing is quite compact, the Old Mansion of the Nangong Family has security checks, so I couldn’t bring it in fully assembled. I had to smuggle it in pieces. However, don’t worry, you now know how to operate it. Just find the right mont and deliver a fatal blow to Nangong Yinghao, and you will succeed," the man said, crossing his arms after passing the item to Nangong Sanli. He appeared half-relieved, with the other half depending on whether Nangong Sanli could successfully carry out the task.

Nangong Sanli toyed with the ring several more tis and grew fond of it the more he experinted. The ring was extrely convenient. It was a common daily accessory that wouldn’t easily draw any attention—especially given its ordinary appearance.

After properly placing the ring on, Nangong Sanli exchanged a few words with the man. Seeing that Nangong Sanli was not overly excited but rather calm, the man felt more reassured and soon said goodbye to him.

After the man left, Nangong Sanli stayed in his study for a while, thinking that it’s better to assassinate Old Master Nangong sooner rather than later. He feared that Chu Ge would return soon, and then not only would he lose the chance to assassinate Old Master Nangong, but also even the opportunity to approach him would vanish—since Chu Ge, being worldly-wise, might recognize the ring.

After pondering for a mont, Nangong Sanli stood up and adjusted his clothes before leaving the room. It was almost noon, and the servants inside the mansion were all busy. Seeing Nangong Sanli, they rely greeted him and went back to their tasks, which was exactly what Nangong Sanli preferred to avoid any undue attention.

"Where is the Old Master right now?" Having stayed in his study all morning, Nangong Sanli was not quite sure of Nangong Yinghao’s whereabouts at the mont. The servant he caught replied imdiately, "Third Master, the Old Master has been in his study all day."

The study—Nangong Sanli looked up at the second floor. The study was fine, as long as no one else saw him.

Touching the ring on his index finger, Nangong Sanli walked around the living room and then went upstairs. The bodyguard of Nangong Yinghao was guarding the entrance and imdiately intercepted him.

"What’s this for, I need to see my brother about sothing urgent, and you’re holding up my business!" Nangong Sanli frowned and said discontentedly.

The bodyguard remained stoic and only said, "Please wait a mont, Third Master. I will notify the Old Master."

After saying this, the bodyguard knocked on the door and soon Old Master Nangong’s voice was heard from inside. The guard relayed that Nangong Sanli wished to see him. After a long silence from inside, Nangong Sanli was finally allowed in.

A flash of anger crossed Nangong Sanli’s eyes; he felt that Nangong Yinghao was deliberately humiliating him, considering it was pointless since they were all from the sa family.

However, when he looked up again, Nangong Sanli still managed a smile on his face, which the bodyguard noticed but did not comnt on.

Pushing the door open to enter, the unfinished chess ga on the table was still there. It seems Old Master Nangong had been playing with Chu Ge earlier but stopped halfway through, and Old Master Nangong didn’t bother to clean it up.

"Big brother," Nangong Sanli politely called out as soon as he entered, maintaining a respectful deanor.

Old Master Nangong, who was reading a book, didn’t lift his head. He just humd in response to the greeting, his eyes still focused on his book.

This brother of his, thinking that no one knew of his deeds. If it weren’t for their blood relation, Old Master Nangong would have eliminated him long ago.

"What is it you want?" Old Master Nangong asked without lifting his head.

Nangong Sanli felt a sense of humiliation. He believed his brother to be too arrogant, showing no respect for him, but while he blad Old Master Nangong, Nangong Sanli entirely forgot his own actions that could have exiled him from the Nangong Family. His heart was filled with bitterness toward Old Master Nangong.

Old Master Nangong, sensing this, sighed inwardly but continued to ignore Nangong Sanli. After a long silence, Nangong Sanli finally spoke, "Nothing much, I just thought it’s been a while since we had a chat, so I wanted to talk to you."

Despite Old Master Nangong not even looking up, Nangong Sanli still put on a strained smile.

"Oh, I have been quite busy lately, if there’s sothing you want, just say it," Old Master Nangong said coldly, giving face to Nangong Sanli. He knew this brother too well; Nangong Sanli would never seek him out unless he wanted sothing. However, Old Master Nangong still thought it was just another request and didn’t suspect anything else.

Biting his teeth, Nangong Sanli suppressed the jealousy inside, and resignedly said, "Ah, big brother, why have you grown so distant from ? I really just wanted to talk to you."

"Oh? Is that so?" Old Master Nangong finally looked up, eyeing Nangong Sanli with a faint smile that wasn’t quite a smile.

Nangong Sanli shifted his gaze, stepping forward two paces to confront Old Master Nangong, who now put down his newspaper to face his scheming brother.

"Big brother, I am your brother after all. Why would you rather trust an outsider like Chu Ge, and not your own brother?" Nangong Sanli wore an expression of helplessness and pain, his eyes hinting at discontent towards Old Master Nangong.

Old Master Nangong scrutinized Nangong Sanli intently and countered: "You’re talking about

withdrawing all your responsibilities recently, aren’t you? Why did I remove your responsibilities, don’t you know?"

Nangong Sanli’s face stiffened, stubbornly retorting, "What big brother is thinking, naturally, I don’t know. I just feel so wronged. I have been so dedicated to the Nangong Family, yet you don’t trust ."

"If you were competent in your position, you wouldn’t be in this situation today. There’s a reason why I withdrew your duties, and you don’t need to act with . You know very well what you’ve done. Okay, if there’s nothing else, please leave."
